Thereās a liquor store near my house that seems to be run exclusively by frat boys. They lovingly curate these bags, which I browsed today while āOops I Did It Againā played through the store speakers. This is art to me, there is beauty everywhere for those with eyes to see it
The update everyone has been waiting forā¦.
everytime i see this it makes me want to buy from them exclusively
You guys are gonna wanna see this

common advice for social anxiety is to tell yourself "people aren't going to think less of you just because you said something a bit daft" but the thing is. sometimes they will. and you just have to learn to be cool with that and to treat it as a dnd random encounter rather than letting it ruin your whole day
recent example. lady at my careers appointment had a post-it with her name on it stuck to the monitor, so i introduced myself by saying "hello, i'm eliot! you must be [name], it's nice to meet you!" and she stared at me as if i was the stupidest person alive and said icily, "yeah, i'm [name]. congratulations, you can read."
in bygone times this would have reduced me to a sort of quivering blancmange. thankfully i am now in a place where i was able to pull back, calmly evaluate this interaction, and say to myself "this woman should probably not be working in a customer-facing job"
important additions!!!!
Sometimes learning "wow, that person is a DICK" is the best thing for your social anxiety.
i went from having social anxiety so bad iād have panic attacks at the door leaving the house, to making my friends wonder if i even know the Concept of social anxiety. (i still have issues obviously, but usually never with strangers) besides the right meds, the key difference was realizing;
what people think of me is none of my fucking business.
obviously there has to be some nuance with this, but itās a pretty decent baseline. like thatās their personal opinion, theyāre allowed to have that opinion, and my life does not revolve around that guyās opinion. unless that opinion impacts whether my bills get paid, my needs are met, its legit none of my business. i dont need to be nosy about it.
250 years and most native tribal groups continue to not be federally recognized. Embarrassing!
Hey so a small thing that literally everyone who sees this is capable of is correcting any āused toā statements about native people in this country.
āNative people used to live in this National Parkā No. They still do.
āNative people used to tell these stories-ā No. They still do.
āNative people used to use this plant as a natural remedy-ā No. They still do.
Better yet, familiarize yourself with the tribes local to you. Odds are, they do not yet have federal recognition. You can still read the stories they have to share, you can share their ongoing battle for recognition with others, you can sign petitions and spread the word to others to do so as well. But do something.

asked one of my coworkers how she's doing today and she goes "could be better, could be worse," and another coworker nearby who was eavesdropping chimes in with "could be a lil bit o' alligator curse!" i have no idea what he meant by that but i do know that it has been immediately added to the lexicon.
he's steve
Incredible! The Steve now on sale only $5.93! What a deal!

the reason you, a white american, believe that white americans don't have culture is the same reason fish don't believe in water
yes i know you think it's an antiracist statement, that you're saying it's a bad thing white americans don't have culture. but what you're actually saying is that the way white americans live is simply the normal way to live and that "culture" refers only to deviations from that norm
there's real holidays and then there's, you know, cultural holidays. there's regular foods and there's ethnic foods
this is not (just) about "cultural christianity," an idea that gestures at a real thing but the way tumblr talks about it is mostly not useful, i'm talking about stuff much broader than that.
making yourself a ham sandwich with mayo on white bread is a cultural practice just as much as making jollof rice is a cultural practice.
if you feel some kind of yearning as a white american to connect with your Ancestral Culture you can get really into wearing lederhosen or playing bagpipes or whatever. but you could also just learn to understand the way you are living right now as a culture and not some kind of neutral default absence of culture

quirky fourth wall breaking character but theyre just fucking. wrong about the medium theyre in. they keep making references to cinematic techniques and directorial styles and the other fourth wall breaking character is like "dumbass we're in a fucking comic book" and they are in a video game.
Well currently theyāre in a tumblr post but I see your point
we're actually in a youtube video if this turns out to be funny enough

inability to correctly perceive 3d objects is in fact far more dangerous when someone is driving a car next to you then when they're like, sending emails to you.
can we focus on the gnome for a second
wait sorry i was not wearing my glasses. that is a cat
these are the people i have to share a highway with
