"Ian," he hears Lip say, as he continues to watch Mickey talk with Debbie and Carl.

"Hm?" he says, and immediately snaps his head towards his brother with a swear as Lip elbows him in the side. "Hey! What the fuck?"

Lip points at him, face deadly serious except for a little bit of mirth in his eyes. "Behave yourself. Stop eye-fucking Mickey from across the room."

"I am not—" he goes to defend himself, feels the way his ears burn when Lip just levels him with a deadpan stare. "Shut up."

- Or, Mickey wears a suit and Ian goes a little crazy when he isn't the only person who notices.

u know what i fucking love. is that it's so clear that many of us have important full time jobs. yet you can see us here on tumblr throughout the work day posting about the most unhinged shit possible. like we're really out here going to a meeting then coming back to tumblr like "shane drippy big dick bouncing on that thang" before running back to another meeting like Hi Linda yes I talked to the team earlier and we're ready to send the documents over. How was your weekend

It’s such a beautiful shock to see how open Ian and Mickey are in their affection for each other. I mean prison, bickering like an old married couple, you get the sense that everyone-even the guards-are vaguely aware of them being together, Ian regularly asks for relationship advice from his inmate buddies, Mickey literally talks to a neo-Nazi and actually gets good advice….its just….. “prison gay” aka sex, was normal. But a genuine relationship? Love? That’s another thing to have on display, open secret or not, it is. It’s so…oh my God it just is, okay?

But…from the moment Mickey gets out and suddenly it’s just Regular Boyfriends. (The Gallavich edition because nothing is ever regular with them). Ian placing a hand on Mickey’s stomach to calm him down, slapping his ass, wrapping an arm round him, and giving him TWO kisses on the cheek RIGHT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER MILKOVICH? That’s HUGE! Walking out the house with their arms around each other? Holding hands in public across the table? Kissing in a courthouse? Ian yelling out that he loved Mickey in Godamn public multiple times? A PUBLIC proposal? Followed by a kiss? Ian’s whole family asking “aren’t you in love with Mickey?” And Ian saying “yeah, I am” saying “I want him back” when it used to be “we hang out” and “I like how he smells”? Holding hands while being serenaded IN THE ALIBI? Mickey yelling “look, I LOVE YOU” in front of the whole family?

It’s so different. This same boy used to hide, used to flinch away, even when he as Ian were together together, they were still always running always overshadowed by something, it was physical hesitance before “boyfriend” or “partner, lover, family”-it was careful.

It’s so free in the later seasons. Season ten just feels like such a beautiful shock.
