There's only one direction the water flows It only goes forward There's only one direction we go And we can only go forward every day To the end where we began To the darkness up ahead And everything that happens in life Will never happen again And you spend your whole life learning to swim And you can never know what's over the bend And every moment passing is another one you'll never get back And you can only get older

Hello. I’m sorry for begging again but my situation is pretty dire.
Recently, I’ve been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, stage 4. It came out of nowhere and was caught by sheer luck on an unrelated test. Stage four means my kidneys are shriveled up and almost dead - currently at only 17% working condition. When it drops to 10%, which is stage 5 (prognosis is within a year) I will require a kidney transplant and/or dialysis. You can not live without it, and prognosis for dialysis/kidney transplant patients are 10 to 20 years. I’m very young and I really would like to continue having a peaceful life and work on my art. I’ve had many hardships before - I’ve fundraised to get money for rent because of a homophobic attack I’ve suffered, I’ve fundraised to escape my country, all within 2-3 years. I’m really grateful for all the help I’ve gotten and I believe in people’s kindness.
Please, if you’re able, share or pitch in to my gfm campaign made by my fiancé. Link in the reblog.
My comms are also still open if you’d like to help in that way and get some art.

Hello. My health has gotten dramatically worse and I might have to start dialysis in the near future, paid out of pocket. Please donate and share if you can.
Creatinine means kidney function is below 20% (sorry i don’t have the formula to calculate it, im basing it off previous results i had, the worst I had was 17%), hemoglobin levels indicate anemia, my hemoglobin is only half of a normal amount.
Please donate so I can afford treatment. Whether it’s a transplant or a dialysis - I’ll have to decide with my doctors in the near future.

I love Josh’s anti-classism so much. I grew up in a single parent household that didn’t have time/the ability to cook. I taught myself as an adult and ended up loving it. I cook with this stuff a lot. Shit, the RealLemon juice ends up in a lot of my cocktails. Sure, I like fancy ingredients when I can afford them and I have things I get picky about using - but I have bad hands, mincing garlic is painful as fuck. There’s a lot to be said for knowing how to work with what you have. Don’t shame people for trying, don’t shame people for feeding their families things that they enjoy.
if you are only a good cook if you have access to premium ingredients at whole foods or above prices then you arent really a good cook
I think about this post a lot because of the phrase "i'll cook anyone's ass under the table."
Did you know that after they switched to blind auditions, major symphony orchestras hired women between 30% to 55% more? Before bringing in “blind auditions” with a screen to conceal the the candidate, women in the top 5 major orchestras made up less than 5% of the musicians performing.
so I believe it was actually more complicated than that, in interesting ways. Because at first, when they did blind auditions, they were STILL hiring more men.
…Then they put down a carpet, so that high heels didn’t clack on the floor, and BOOM women were suddenly getting hired.
The testers didn’t even know that’s what they were picking up on, which just goes to show how tiny of a cue it takes for misogyny to kick in.
The case of blind auditions for orchestras and how it dramatically changed the gender makeup of orchestras is a very illuminating example of gender bias, and an interesting possible way of countering it.
You can be sexist without knowing it. You can be racist without knowing it. This is not a moral failing; it is a moral imperative to remember that you are fallible, and take steps to limit the damage your squishy ape brain’s foibles can cause.
The final chapter in Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink (2005) describes this in detail.
What you don’t usually hear about when discussing this blind audition process is that after the blind auditions were implemented, when women had gotten many positions in the orchestra, men no longer saw being a member as prestigious and the salaries for the entire orchestra dropped.
saw this on pinterest but i think it belongs here too
this will never not be important
