i do have to say that TMZ is a fucking plague and needs to be stomped out. the way they shared the news of michael jackson’s death before his family was notified, shared images of the kobe bryant helicopter crash before his wife had even found out it happened, and have now shared images of liam payne’s dead body for the world to see… just fucking slimy and utterly devoid of integrity
I keep hearing people say “The internet isn’t forever my favorite shows are being taken down and there’s so much lost content from old websites”
Guys, that’s not the meaning of the phrase. It’s about internet safety.
“The internet is forever” means that if you post something, it can be copied, reposted, saved to someone else’s computer. You are no longer in control of where it goes. It does not mean the internet is an infallible archive.
Be responsible with your stuff, post only what you are ok with being out there forever and protect what you mean to keep forever.
This too shall pass but like holy fuck
god please take away the hate that maya henry is about to get triple it and give it to johnny depp
one direction will always be so so so bittersweet to me like they were such a foundation of my teenage years while at the same time those boys were spending most of their days trapped in hotel rooms or waking up at 2 am to record an album and non stop touring and working so much more than anyone let alone a bunch of teenage boys should work and its always been hard to reconcile those two realities especially on a day like today because god when they were good together, they were so good together.
and i just don't think anything like them will ever happen again. 5 boys from basically working class backgrounds thrust into a level of fame the height of which hadn't been seen for decades, all of them becoming the breadwinners of their families before the age of 18. the immense pressure but also the amount of fun they were. the tragedy and joy of it all intertwined. really impossible to put into words
Veronica Mars is referenced in the Buffy comics and Buffy is referenced in the Veronica Mars movie so canonically Buffy had Veronica and Veronica had Buffy and Logan and Veronica watched Spike and Buffy together and vice versa probably going hey look it’s us! And that is just DEEPLY special to me
the distinction between board games and TTRPGs only exists in your heart baby
im going to roleplay in this game of catan and you cant stop me officer [i am arrested and jailed anyway for playing settlers of catan]
you can do a character voice in monopoly. they wont stop you. this is what Big Board Games doesnt want you to know
don't get me wrong i am VERY excited for the color purple musical film it's gonna rock so hard but also. im gonna need the trailers to stop being like "look at this cute sister story <3 <3 <3" because halle bailey is probably gonna be in like 15 minutes of the film total and the rest of the film is just. every trigger warning possible. and i feel like people should know that going in
actually why did i say "the rest of the film", the halle bailey scenes will ALSO need like twelve trigger warnings
people telling me they didnt know this well ok time to spread the word i guess. the color purple has just about every trigger warning possible, mainly including: repeated sexual assault (biggest plot point), child sexual assault, incest (major character backstory), spousal abuse (physical, psychological, etc), police brutality/racism, time-period-accurate sexism and homophobia
it is a good musical!! it's a good book!!!! but goddamn i feel like people should uuuuhhhh know this before going in to see it considering it's SO fucking heavy
B’Tselem – The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories strives to end Israel’s occupation, recognizing that
They also have a great website that is extremely detailed and interactive!!
https://www.btselem.org
I found them because I had seen someone say that the ratio of Palestinians to Israelis fatalities since 2005 was 23:1 and i was wondering where the data for that originally came from. This website keeps such detailed accounts of fatalities, home destruction, and other human rights violations. It also has an interactive map that shows the timeline of the occupation, talks about different communities and settlements, shows check points, and more.
It is extremely informative, and honestly pretty remarkable.
the only ethical thing to do with your catholic trauma is sexualize it i think
in exchange for offering the first 18 years of my life so devoutly to god (this is a lie) i should be allowed to fuck the nuns. the pope doesnt want me to say this but the nuns do
imagine being like "ouuughh i have incorrectly learned that physical suffering is a direct analogue to atonement for wrongdoing im going to make it everyone else's problem" when you could just get a hot woman to hit you so hard you bruise for several weeks. and she wants to fuck you
a new type of elf has been discovered that drives a john deere tractor and wears overalls with no bra

There's people for whom "we're leaving in the morning" means "we ride at dawn motherfuckers, you can finish waking up and getting dressed in the car, we'll grab breakfast somewhere along the way", and there's people for whom it means "we'll get going somewhere before noon".
And then they get married.

i'm founding a new school of media criticism which i've decided to call Bitism. the Bitist school of literary analysis asks a simple question: is this work committed to the bit?
you see, any work of fiction is either committed to the bit or it's not. the worst thing a piece of media can be is ashamed of its own premise, of the genre it in habits, of the tropes and aesthetics we expect from it. to be committed to the bit does not inherently make it good, but it makes it more worthy of respect than those which are not.
also, that's not to say that a story cannot parody or criticize the genre it inhabits or mimics. we can discuss the bit, we can deconstruct the bit, we can ask ourselves whether or not it's a good bit, but to commit to it first will strengthen these discussions, not detract from them. commitment to the bit is, after all, the first step to genuine sincerity. and sincerity will exalt and elevate parody such that it can stand on its own feet.
commitment to the bit turns melodrama into camp, elevates parody to biting commentary, and allows cringe to open up into a resonant, if unpolished, expression of true emotion.
fully expect bitism to take the literary world by storm sometime in the next few years.
