This video is going to be such a good turning point for Wemmbu’s story arc and character
Like as addressed in my previous analysis of this episode, Wemmbu is tackling his own weaponisation and how people have used him in the past all thoughout this episode. But I would argue that not only does it tackle that issue but it also demonstrates a clear understanding of how Wemmbu has progressed throughout Unstable as a whole with his choices and power
Wemmbu starts Unstable feared, but also weak, too weak to stop people from manipulating him, harming him and destroying what he knows and cares for. He then builds his strength through power to stop that all, learning how power can be used as a tool and how he can fight. He tries to settle down after he has gotten slightly stronger. He tries to aim for peace but finds himself still unable to achieve what he wants and so he tries to get stronger as to be able to do so
Throughout this, the people he knows betray him, get their life destroyed or die. But he does eventually become powerful and he demonstrates that power to the server, showing the world that not only Wemmbu is no longer too weak to stop the destruction and chaos, but that he can be the cause of it at his own will
This finally proves himself to the server, like he had wanted to. But he finds that he only proved to himself how much he wishes for anything but this because all Wemmbu wants in a world of chaos and destruction is that privilege to have security and freedom. Wemmbu just wants a home to live in peace. He wants to be a normal player. He fakes his death to try achieve this and yet is still met with challenges at every turn. He is hunted. He is framed. He is tormented. So eventually, his identity is eventually revealed and chaos follows in the form of a battle and a team up he wouldn’t have ever anticipated. During this, he finally accepts that the strength he had been holding onto wasn’t worth it all. Wemmbu is able to finally accept that he is powerful and that power can be strength, but he learns that he doesn’t have to be the strongest to survive and that he can just be Wemmbu
And then, he is imprisoned. And then, he is used as a tool. And then, he is put in positions where he is forced to fight over and over. And then… it all seems over, the fighting ends, and he is able to do something he never had the strength to do before. He lets Lettuce live and Wemmbu goes on to survive with Egg in what seems to be peace for once
But then, this all happens
And this, Wemmbu being threatened and working for Arachnid, just seems to parallel, mirror or at very least be just be incredibly similar to the countless situations that Wemmbu has been in the past
Like Wemmbu, despite his power, is being controlled by Egg being captured again. Which while technically is just another time that Egg has been held hostage, is also a moment that shows that even with power, even despite not being a weak chungie, Wemmbu cannot do anything. He can’t prevent Arachnid from using him, from trying to manipulate him, from harming him and from destroying what he cares for. Arachnid is threatening Egg and Wemmbu cannot risk his friend’s life even if it means that he has to go along with a lot of the things he would rather not do
He may try maintain this façade of how things are okay to some degree but Wemmbu is struggling here, not only with his actions but also his lack of freedom. He can’t help but follow orders, e.g. placing the TNT under Cod Master’s house, even when all he wants to do is joke around at peace with his friends because not doing so would compromise everything. It’s just like when Theo interrupted Wemmbu and Egg adventuring far out in search for peace and a home, it’s just like when the power of the Eggchan Civilisation didn’t stop things from going wrong for them. Power isn’t everything and when present it’s used as much against as for Wemmbu. That’s why this is such a challenge for him, the very thing he keeps using to protect himself, also puts people he cares about in danger and/or damages his relationships with others
And that’s not mentioning how Wemmbu having power was used against him. This can be seen especially through how Egg also had a statis during the Mafia arc which was used to get Wemmbu to give up Gambit. Wemmbu also did try to fight Flame back then because of it all, which is something that also relates to this because he how he has been forced to fight Flame because of this situation that he’s in now
Then with all this power he has being used against him, the destruction he has caused due to it obviously relates to the past destruction that Wemmbu has caused or been present for in the past e.g. Wemmbu’s Colony/Empire, Zam’s Empire, Jaden’s Empire, the damage caused by Wemmbu’s search for Flame, Loppezz’s Civ and so much more. This is extremely apparent with how Wemmbu has used his orbitals throughout this episode and with how Arachnid establishes how the entire Cave Civ is rigged w TNT similarly to how Loppezz’s Civ was
This alongside how Arachnid talks about in regards to power, which shows how he thinks a lot like how Mindmanner and how past-Wemmbu had, show Wemmbu’s progression over time in terms of how he uses his power. But now that it’s been addressed throughout the episode, his power and progression is going to be called into question because of everything he has done
So basically, what I’m trying to say is that this arc is going to make Wemmbu evaluate who he is. It’s going to take more and more situations that are similar to the past to make Wemmbu confront it all whilst dealing with his weaponisation, power and personhood, which I think will be quite interesting to see
modern social media should stop offering "sync with your phone contacts to follow them" options and start offering "block all your phone contacts so they never see your account" options
it is so jarring and weird when a fantasy book is like “ok let’s go around the circle and have each character talk about which lgbt umbrella category they identify with” like ok your fantasy world doesn’t have to be feudal europe but can it not be 2023 twitter please

On the exact opposite end of the spectrum, one of the most elegant examples I saw of showing that a character was trans, was that a member of the protagonist team named Maia had stolen some important document that was an editable text file about experiments, and when the other characters read the file, it kept referring to “states of maiaer” and “antimaiaer”. One of her teammates realized that someone must’ve gone through and run automated find-and-replace on “Matt” to “Maia”.
I think one of the funniest things in mcyt is when they refer to armor as clothes. "I'm not wearing any clothes" "give me your pants" "I'm taking off my shirt" so much funnier than if they just talked about it normally
