Sometimes, Genma wonders if he’ll ever get use to this new world even though he’s been here for almost 2 months. Every day is a brand new day that brings a little something to surprise him.

Of course a crime had to be committed when he was out of costume! Just his luck, huh? Damian carefully watched as some man ran off with a woman’s purse and he started to run until he collided with something— someone? Damian looked up at the person with an angry expression.
“Move out of my way!” He commanded, trying to push past them, not making it much better.
Genma slid out of the way, pivoting on one foot until he was entirely out of the path. He watched as a young boy bounded after the same man he had witnessed ran off with a woman’s purse and couldn’t help the small grin forming on his face.
Ah... another boy who wants to be a hero. Well then, what could Genma do but shadow the boy as the kid jumped- jumped?- and was borne away by the wind as if the kid was following some line from rooftop to rooftop that only he could see.
Very curious indeed.

Genma wakes up from the deep and almost falls off his new bed as the present slide back into focus. The sounds of battle and the screams he had heard were all just his imagination, and it takes a moment for him realize that he’s safe.
Or at least as safe as he can get in this new world he’s trying to get used to.
He looks at the wide room, looks at the wooden sporks he had left on the nightstand, and looks back out the window where the moon is shining innocently, illuminating all but casting large large shadows.
Genma grits his teeth, changes clothes, and hauls himself out the window, sleep be damned.
Once out, he finds himself running; the night air is sweet and light, a perfume that is slowly dragging him out of the nightmares he had somehow still carried over to this new world. His mind wanders as his feet carry him from rooftop to rooftop, until he collides with a warm body. He would’ve sprawled onto the ground sans for his chakra anchoring him up right.
“Ah… sorry, sorry,” he murmurs, sheepishly scratching his head. “Didn’t mean to bump into you.”
The stars here were different from Kouka, but the comfort that the night offered was still the same and Hak’s old night watch habits were hard to get rid of when he was still trying to collect himself in this weird place. So here he was seated on a rooftop, in the dead middle of night, all while holding that broom handle of his in place of his usual weapon. He was in the middle of pondering a nap when someone else somehow knocked into him, surprise flashing over his face when the other seemed to just come right out of nowhere. He wasn’t that rusty with keeping watch, right? His grip tightened on his staff until the other spoke, Hak shrugging and relaxing after.
“You’re fine, can’t say I was expecting to see someone else up here.” A new world didn’t mean that people were free of their thoughts from their older ones, Hak pausing before speaking again.
“Can’t sleep? Something on your mind?” He wasn’t expecting the guy to spill his guts out to a stranger, but since they were here, no harm in asking.
Genma blinked at the sudden question, a little shook that someone he’s never met before would even bother to ask or care about someone who they didn’t know. But perhaps this brand new world was different than his own...
“Hmm,” he pondered, trying not to bite his lips in lieu of his missing senbon. “Not much. Just... bad dreams, that’s all.”
He took stock of the tight grip on the broom handle and couldn’t help the small smile sliding onto his face. “And what about you? What’s keeping you up here?”

“…The place I’ve been to, it was one big illusion, Even the sun.” Though there were similar effects to the sun, though he never knew what the actual sun is. Since everything from sun, moon and clouds were inside the tower.
He did not know what a cloud was either until he escaped his prison.
“Anyways, such talks are useless. I’m hungry.”
That statement makes Genma stand back up again, his stomach rumbling at the prospect of food.
“Do you have any places in mind? As you can tell, I’m new here.”
sacrificialcanine:
He looks to the sun.
“…I think everything here is a fake, My own home was a fake, because it was a fake sun inside a fake tower, but it was too big to notice.”
Expound , contact, there wasn’t much to talk about the tower because he did not want to talk about the tower. Everything about the tower, it made him head ache, but he is the first one to go outside. The first one to see real sunlight, but this captivity reminds him too much of the tower, that he wanted to break the city itself. He wanted to do a lot of things in all honesty.
“..I had a best friend, his name was Louis.”
“I think he’s dead now that I’m not there.”
…
Deng Deng looks to the sky again.
“Do you think that sun is real?”
“Hmm...” Genma squints up at the sun, trying to make sense of the boy and his statements about his home and his friend. “I think it’s plenty real.”
He pauses, still crounching, lazily blinking at the sun and basking in ts warmth. “What makes you think it’s not real?”
seizonka:
The start of a new day always meant another chance for Rantaro to wander around the city and explore more of the wards outside of his own. Recently, he had taken to riding his bike around various places and marveling at how much further he could go, but today felt like a walking day instead of a riding one and after tossing a couple of things into a bag, he was off.
Golden Ward happened to be where most of his classmates were and while this trip wasn’t for them, seeing a friendly face at the end of a long hike was always energizing. As expected, no matter how early on in the day it was, there were always some people bustling around – either greeting each other or just trying to complete their daily tasks before the rest of the day began. A couple of faces are familiar, just from how often he frequented the wards now, and as expected, a few were unfamiliar. In particular, this person with a bandana tied around their head was certainly someone he had never met before. Wait, was the person walking towards him now?
“Ah.” Were they new? People were always constantly streaming into the city and maybe this person just happened to be one of them? His clothing certainly didn’t match with the rest of the people just minding their own business. Neither did Rantaro’s and maybe that was why the other had chosen him to approach? Being friendly always came easy to Rantaro though and that seemed like the best approach right now!
“Hey there, something I can help you with? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m guessing you’re new here?”
Genma’s feet stops in front of the boy on their own accord. The boy’s voice is cheerful and he tries not to think of the resemblance to the 4th. It’s better to avoid those memories, until his heart doesn’t feel like a feather being blown in the wind.
“Is it that easy to tell?” He sheepishly scratches the back of his head in response.

“…Whats the outside world like. Not this place, outside the city limits. You know, whats it like?” its not that he doesn’t know, its just that he doesn’t know. Being trapped in a tower for his entire life, the outside world is a mystery to him, seeing as he never saw true sunlight until now.
Not like he could do anything about that, he’s not sure if this entire place is even real.
“The outside world, huh...” Genma resists the urge to rub his chin before he gives way to impulse as his hand comes up on its own accord to rest on his chin. He thinks back on the Misty Forest he had seen on the edge of this New World, and deliberately chooses not to talk about that. Instead, he finds himself talking about Home and its wonders.
“Well... it’s like when rain is pouring from the sky and you can see the sun beyond the horizon, just barely out of reach.” He muses a bit more, eyes looking far far away, as he tries to make words out of his memories. “The world is a lot bigger than I know. It’s beautiful and ugly, both known and unknown.”
Genma looks back down at the boy and it’s like seeing the dawning of the sun as something filters in the boy’s mind; he crouches down so he’s eye level with the strange boy with dog ears and smiles. “If you wanna know more about the outside world, we can discover that together.”
Curse the Mother Hen in him coming out and already trying to take care of someone in this strange new world.

Deng Deng has never seen the forest before, so the scent that this man carries, full of leaves and soil that is real and not something that belonged in the tower depts, made him pause for a moment. His own keen senses, he thinks were betraying him. After all nothing in the tower smelled as real as a man who actually lived in a village surrounded by beautiful trees.
He hunts quietly, unaware that the other knew he was watching and stalking. Much like a actual puppy who just followed whoever catched its interest. Hid dog like ears focusing on the footsteps of the man.
Sniff.
“…You. Hey, you.”
Genma pauses, curiosity humming beneath his skin. He’s wary but intrigued at the way the young boy’s voice sounds like soft rain among the bustle of sounds in the background. It reminds him of home and he feels a soft smile grace his face as he turns to face the boy.
The boy has dog ears and Genma wonders in the back of his mind if all beings in this New World are like that.
“Hey there, kid.” He keeps his voice gentle even as he shifts minutely to balance himself in case the boy decides to do something Genma doesn’t want him to do. “What can I do for you?”

“Look at all the different colours!”
“Everything is quiet and cool… wish I could rest like the rest of the world is.”
“Can we have two weeks of beautiful reds and gilded trees before it gets covered in white?”
“I don’t think these trees got the memo about what season this is.”
“No one complains when winter holidays start early but fall? Oh no can’t do that. What a double standard.”
“More pumpkins need to be bought. There isn’t enough.”
“How many kids do you think will be by this year?”
“Spirits are going to be about in one way or another.”
“There is so much food to cook in so little time.”
“Orchards and pumpkin patches? Yes please!”

“The frost may bite in the morning and night, but the sun may soothe it in the afternoon light.”
“All the scarves and gloves seem to be absent. Great.”
“It’s the perfect weather for a small fire in the yard.”
“Are you any good at carving pumpkins?”
“There was something whispering in the wind…”
“Come on now, huddle up. You underestimated the chill.”
“No bugs, no heat… few people want to be outside… it’s perfect.”
“This pile of candy is for the kids, and this pile is for us.”
“Take this coat, you need it. No don’t worry, I’ll be alright.”
