It’s like Marvel is really trying to piss people off, lol.

calling it, whoever the new iron man is they won’t be straight. marvel’s tryna go for the trifecta.
Nothing makes me more pleased than Marvel making Marvel fanboys angry about genuinely good and interesting comic choices.
My family is from Nigeria, and my full name is Uzoamaka, which means “The road is good.” Quick lesson: My tribe is Igbo, and you name your kid something that tells your history and hopefully predicts your future. So anyway, in grade school, because my last name started with an A, I was the first in roll call, and nobody ever knew how to pronounce it. So I went home and asked my mother if I could be called Zoe. I remember she was cooking, and in her Nigerian accent she said, “Why?” I said, “Nobody can pronounce it.” Without missing a beat, she said, “If they can learn to say Tchaikovsky and Michelangelo and Dostoyevsky, they can learn to say Uzoamaka.”
whoa…
This is my favorite post of all time. Once you see this there’s no going back. Our government isn’t a government. Its a corporation. Our congressmen aren’t elected officials they are CEOs who buy their way into office.
Remember that time a conservative columnist said it was un-American to let the poors vote because it was like giving house keys to a burglar? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA laugh to keep from crying
I reblog this once a year
Vintage on disability rights.
Don’t let the black and white trick you. The Capitol Crawl was in 1990. This is not ancient history.
disability rights activism in the courts was born largely out of the brown v. board of education case. #whattheydonttellyou
The first picture made me tear up a little. Winnie Harlow model Antm 21
Don’t you dare tell me that feminism isn’t relevant anymore.
I’ve reblogged this before, I’m sure, but sometimes we need to hear it more than once.
Remember when Disney was all like ‘fuck how races work and homogeneous casts and couples’?
Black and white couple produce fillipino-american child. White dude is the valet. White step mother, one white step sister, one black step sister. Just a jumble, and it ought to happen again.
Some facts from imdb:
First multi-racial cast performing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Whitney Houston was producing Rodger and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” and was to star in it until she decided that Brandy Norwood would make a better Cinderella. Brandy would not do it unless her idol Whitney took the Fairy Godmother role.
Brandy Norwood became the first African-American to play Cinderella. This version broke viewer-ship records when it debuted, and it holds the record for the bestselling video for a made for TV movie.
So fuck any noise where people say audiences don’t want to see a mixed race couple, or more people of color. This was a success from television. I still remember Brandy singing Impossible.
That ought to happen again. Mixed race live action cast where the relationships don’t made genetic or racial sense.
I loved this movie so much. Impossible was my jam.
LOVE THIS MOVIE
I will always reblog this when it is on my dash
and the new cinderella 2015 movie is going to be boring ass oatmeal, when we could have had this again….

Last time I wore this dress on the blog I paired it with pastel pinks and blues, and while I decided to keep that color palette for this post, why not take it up a notch and go with hot fuckin’ pink (and blue)! It’s been a little while since I’ve posted here; the seasons have changed and now it’s back to being hot here in Florida. I’m really happy with how cool (temperature-wise, and otherwise) this outfit is while still being fun and stylish. I generally dislike a lot of the spring and summer clothes I see in stores, so these hot months are always a bit of a challenge for me. I’m pretty confident with this one, though, so I’ll say it … nailed it. Haha, amirite?
BOOM bitches!!
this is important
I’m sorry, what was that about fat people not being able to pole dance????? What was that about fat people not having agility and the strength to do dance moves and shit while fat??? WHAT WAS THAT?
YOU SHOULD PROBABLY ACTUALLY WATCH HER DO IT
She’s an inspiration.
If you can’t escape the toxic people in your life:
1. Don’t allow them to manipulate you into acting in certain ways (For example, don’t allow them to control you by being moody, demanding or rude.) 2. Don’t tip toe around them or live your life walking on egg...
(Especially the arm thing……..I haven’t worn a tank-top or a spaghetti strap since I was 5…and I still feel really self conscious when I even wear short sleeves…)
Oh yeah..and I haven’t worn a bathing suit since I was 7.
(That’s why I need body-positivity.)
Sending my love out to the other “apples” out there! <3
I personally don’t feel this. A pear shape physique is probably way more common in women than the andro or apple shape.
Well I guess what I’m trying to say is..
That even within the fat acceptance/body positivity movement there’s more representation/idealization of the “pears” and “hour glass” bodies vs the apples.
Which, from my personal perspective and observation, there seems to be just as many “apples” as there are “pears” and “hourglasses”.
However, even within the scope of “large people” pears and hourglass figures are generally considered more “attractive” than apples shapes.
So they’re shown more as the poster children of the movement.
So the artwork was a little plea of mine, saying that it’d be totally awesome if there were more”apple” bodies represented?
Even if I think aesthetically people prefer the hourglasses and pears to apples.
That’s what I’m saying.
Nope, the andro shape is less common amongst women than the pear and hour glass shape, full stop. Also, the pear shape has been marginalized by feminism which celebrated what would be the “apple” shape in slimmer women. Hence all that hip and thigh diet.
What I’ve said is that when you suppress certain things, they tend to come back. It’s interesting that this seems to be happening in FA. Maybe I’m missing something, but I just don’t get why this is of any importance. I’m not being mean, I genuinely don’t get it.
I just don’t understand why you felt the need to comment on this at all. The artist was upset at not seeing their body type (and mine, and many, many other peoples’) being well-represented in the body-positivity movement. Regardless of how common you first speculated, then concluded (without evidence) that pear-shaped bodies are, every single body type should have equal representation in the movement since it is about body-positivity, not about larger bodies which most closely mirror the shapes of thin ones with flat stomachs, toned arms and no rolls or are more easily sexualized because they have larger secondary sex characteristics [You were saying something about feminism?]. These are things to always think about when think about when considering intersectionality/inclusiveness within a movement. Oh yeah, and so is not butting in and talking over the more/most marginalized people within an already oppressed group. Whether or not you “personally feel” the exact type of oppression they are experiencing, it’s still happening and is still important. After all, declaring norms and speaking over people is what facilitated the need for this, and many other movements, in the first place. And declaring that you weren’t trying to be mean, doesn’t mean what you said wasn’t extremely rude and unnecessary.
"I see that you’re very obviously stating that the reason you made this and the reason it’s important to you is because you feel like your body/bodies like yours don’t get much representation in what is the only movement where they have a chance to, but I’m still going to act like I don’t understand and completely disregard everything you’re saying. I could actually take the time to listen to what is being laid out directly in front of me, but instead I’m going to essentially say that why you find this important is invalid." Just because there is a movement for something it does not mean that we shouldn’t still be striving for diversity within that movement and a wide spectrum of representation. That is important, that’s the point.
"One fun fact I learned while on the air with Keith Olbermann was that humans on the Internet are scumbags. People say children are cruel, but I was never made fun of as a child or an adult. Suddenly, my disability on the world wide web is fair game. I would look at clips online and see comments like, "Yo, why’s she tweakin?" "Yo, is she retarded?" And my favorite, "Poor Gumby-mouth terrorist. What does she suffer from? We should really pray for her." One commenter even suggested that I add my disability to my credits: screenwriter, comedian, palsy."
