I don't usually talk about stuff like this but I need to spread the word. the EU is trying to fast-track the return of chat control 1.0 (mass scanning of all communications including encrypted messages).

If you live in the EU I am begging you to contact your representatives and tell them not to let this fucking thing through. a vote is gonna happen on July 9th where they will need a majority of 361 MEPs to be able to stop it.

Its doing the rounds again and this time there are way more countries in favor then last time.

So contact ur meps and use everything you got to make them chance their mind, for example if the mep is a member of the far right, tell them ur scared "woke" is gonna take over and make being far right "impossible" (wish tbh), or if they are more liberal say you think its giving chinese goverment vibes (nothing against china personally, but any mention of it will deff piss of the average liberal), hell even send a mail to thise against for their choice in keeping the net fre, so they know they are making the right choice, again we need to do everything we can to make sure it does not pass or we can say by to tthe net as we know it

The EU is having a vote for Chat control on Thursday and it's very important that you contact your MEPs as soon as possible and much as possible

Parliament President Roberta Metsola has forced chat control into a new vote with a urgent procedure vote, which barley passed through

Now, in order to block this, we need a majority of 361 MEPs to reject this law

and what's more horrible is that this was planned near the start of their summer break, which means some MEPs might be gone for summer break

and anyone who can't vote, are counted as a YES.

All of this is done to try to force Chat Control through, even though this law has been voted against on multiple occasions

Roberta Metsola is abusing their power to try to pass a horrible law and we will not allow this law to be passed through.

Remember to contact your MEPs, tell them that you don't want this law and that they need to vote no on this. call them as much as possible, send them emails, letters, anything that will overwhelm them into backing away from voting YES.

We want them to vote NO

Also, tell others about this, tell your friends, your family about this, post about this stuff online. The more posts online, the more traction these types of posts get and the more people will be able to see what is going on.

When I was in this age bracket, there was a huge emphasis on improving consent culture via graceful rejection, and it's gone by the wayside. Which sucks.

Twice in my youth (once in high school and once in college) I was in situations where I was asking someone out and I could tell they were calculating in their heads the risks of rejecting me, and both times I said, out loud, "you can say no, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't prepared for either answer." And then they said no. This wasn't some spark of special wisdom I had - I knew to do it because feminist conversations among my age group brought it up regularly. This isn't happening nearly enough anymore.

More recently, I was really glad when we got to "rejection sensitive dysphoria" in my IOP program and it was one of those symptoms where the therapists really emphasized how it affects others. Because it does.

Being someone who cannot handle rejection makes you much more likely to violate boundaries, and yes, that includes sexual ones. Yes, you, reader who has never hurt a fly. If you don't want to stumble backwards into sexually assaulting someone, fix your RSD meltdowns. If you keep them up it's only a matter of time. Because if you're nice enough to interact with, but are known to have RSD meltdowns, guess what happens when your friends and acquaintances need to reject you?
