❛ Are you okay physically, but also like, in general? ❜
A slight scoff came out of Sissel, although it sounded more of a hiss if anything. What a thing to ask!
Was that so amusing to ask? She didn't think so - as well. That was classified as for what happened. So instead, she gave the man an annoyed glare, petulant at that.
"Gee, why don't you try figuring that yourself?"
❛ I mean, I only fucked up like seven times. ❜
There's something that Sissel doesn't get about people - well, considering the person before them wasn't human- was that even appropriate to say? They weren't quite so sure about the technicalities of these sort of things. So to speak, the ghost had only interacted with mostly humans and a dog.
So - this squid… kid? Her usage of terms were confusing, if anything. But again, they really don't get them at all.
"… keep that up, and you'll be costing me nine, which I don't have."

People were difficult. Even their time in the DWMA- even making friends- had done little to make Crona believe otherwise. There were a handful who they could be around comfortably, a few who deeply upset them to be close to, and then there was everyone else. Somehow that last category felt worse than the second. Strangers and mere acquaintances were unpredictable, and no matter what Crona did, there would always be so many more of them than the other two.
As far as they could tell, there was absolutely nobody they were familiar with in this city. This led them to the conclusion that they were sentenced to a life here free of any socialization whatsoever, which suited them fine. Better to be almost completely alone than fall to pieces any time they were approached by anyone.
Crona thought this alley would be the perfect place to be alone, too...only for a small shape to catch the corner of their eye. A little black cat, with a striking red scarf wrapped around its neck. This…this was fine. Cute little animals were easy. They didn’t judge you, they didn’t ask you difficult questions. They were content to listen, cuddle up if you were lucky, and if they attacked you then you probably deserved it.
"H…hi there, little one…” A few careful steps took Crona close enough to squat down beside the cat. They allowed the smallest trace of a smile to cross their face. “Are you lost too?” One hand raised up and stretched out slowly, letting only a couple of fingers extend to try and gingerly pet the cat on the head. It was as if they feared one indelicate move would send the little thing scurrying away.
Ragnarok, meanwhile, was uncharacteristically quiet. His small, de-powered form had emerged from Crona’s back a while ago and remained perched atop his meister’s head, from where he now wordlessly watched the cat. The expressionless face gave very little away, but his eyes were locked with absolute focus upon the creature…
There wasn't a lot of stuff to do for a cat like Sissel, who had mostly just wandered the alleyways and streets. The time that that they spent in their own housing was very little, and even spending time in there was even less. That place wasn't home, so they were more keen on travailing the areas of Spirale, which still eluded them. Most of the nook and crannies had a sense of odd mystery to them, especially the alleyways.
This particular alleyway didn't have people running in and picking them up - it was quiet. Dreary, even, but it was good. Good enough for Sissel, where they could do whatever they pleased. Which was mostly napping at this point. Even though they have no need to sleep, they certainly don't quite lack the ability to take naps.
Sissel had just woken up from one such nap, at the arrival of a stranger. While they were hardly wary of strangers, they were selective of who they decided to be friendly to. Casting a gaze over the stranger before them - they didn't seem that bad. If anything they seemed like a kid that was just genuinely lost and unsure as of where they were. Perhaps they were a new person in this city? It wouldn't be that unusual with the amount of new people that arrive in waves.
For once Sissel decided that they will be nice to this stranger - letting them pat their head - and as a treat, they would move into nuzzle their hand. They seemed like they could use one even. They even sit still just so the person could continue petting them as long as they wished.
There was also… that strange thing coming… popping out from this person's back staring at Sissel. He was clearly looking SIssel, but they don't look back yet, clearly still being busy being petted.
the answer you’ve been searching for this whole time
As Sissel watches the men fall down from the corner of their eyes, they breathe a sigh of relief. Well, that's done and over. They won't be bothering this man for a good while yet, for sure! Hopefully, that was, as the cat didn't know the man's luck, quite yet.
They give a pur, while keeping a steady gaze from the man's shoulder, and looked forwards. Even with their senstive ears, Sissel could hear the annoyed grunts and confusion- and soon enough indeed, they were in the clear.
For now, that is, they remind themselves, hyperaware of the situation. They were at least alone, and nothing is going to happen yet... but Sissel decided to not overthink this. The man seemed like he could take care of himself, right?
"Mrreoow."
They jump off Vash's shoulder, eyes rolling about a princess being mad about their scent. Ah, so be it, they never intended to take anyone else's person, nor family. Landing on their paws, they look up, yellow eyes gleaming - and they look away.
"Meow."
One last word - and that was see you later, for now. They decide to pitter off, for now. Today was a tiring day, and now they really needed that nap.
★ --;; Vash gives a bit of a start as the cat leaps down from its perch, at first worried that he'd managed to jostle it off somehow despite how well it had kept its balance just a few moments ago. He supposes he should have expected it to land as gracefully as it does, all four feet easily meeting the ground and leaving that brief second of worry to easily float away.
"Oh," he blinks. "Guess this is your stop then, huh?" It's quiet enough, anyway; far away from any of the ilk that had been on his tail earlier, they've managed to make their way into a much more peaceful area of the surrounding neighborhoods, tiny window gardens and largely calm streets waiting to greet them at the end of the alleyway.
"Bye, little buddy!" He waves, even though the cat doesn't look back at him as he does so. It's probably a good idea to get himself out of here, too, and back to his list of errands that didn't include getting chased by a bunch of angry men.
"And, uh... thank you... ?"
@cyandelightz
Sissel doesn't spend much time in Cotes Fantasci- if anything, they try their hardest to avoid it. Something about that ward seemed so insistent on poking about them, and their status. Or something like that, as pixies seems to love to irritate them, and so forth.
The feline can't however always avoid this ward- as much as they dislike the feeling of something tingling on their fur, it's the nature that brings them back to visit, over and over.
"Mmrph."
They were resting near the gigantic tree, keeping an watchful eye, but simply remaining still. Nothing's going to bother them- not even pixies.
Yet another shenanigan was happening in Spirale; Seluna had just thought of how much she missed playing her hurdy-gurdy-- and there it was, resting in her hands like it was never left in Glenhaven.
Just like in a dream, the woman didn't pay mind to the oddity of the situation and started playing, the melancholic melody coming natural to her. It was an old ballad she learned when she still lived with her first tribe, accompanied by Seluna humming along with the buzzing sound created by the wheel rubbing against the chords.
" You like it, kitty cat? " she suddenly asked, not stopping her hands from turning the wheel and pressing the buttons of the instrument.
The said cat was not quite aware that it was a dream so to speak. Sleep comes to her, very little and few nights are often having her be awake. It did seem that the dream effect did has an affect on her, but Sissel was more focused on the music before her.
She watched content, mostly in awe at how seemingly swiftly at the woman's expertise and skill. Music wasn't something that she had experience with much, but she could tell that clearly Seluna was good. Great even.
"Mmhm-" Wait - her thoughts become her voice?
danny's gaze bounced between the doll and the apparition as the voice spoke, brow furrowing ever so faintly as he tried to decide where his gaze should settle. eventually, he simply shrugged and shifted his eyes to the apparition, throwing the decision to chance. at least this way, he could study her facial features while she talked. he was relieved that the conversation immediately slipped into a peaceful sort of topic, making him relax even further. he was serious about not fighting—if sissel didn't want to fight, then neither did danny. and he was more than fine to keep it that way.
at her question, though, he couldn't help his wince. ❝ Oh... you saw that, huh? ❞ the question was paired with a nervous chuckle, one gloved hand coming up to rub at the back of his neck. well. danny supposed it was better that another ghost find out, rather than a human ( or, to be more accurate in radiale, another living being ). pretty much all the ghosts back home knew he was a halfa, that danny fenton and danny phantom were the same person. it might be a little more complicated here, but the teen supposed it was the same concept.
❝ Yes... ❞ danny's hand was held out in front of him, palm flat as he teetered it from side to side ❝ ...and no? I'm a human, technically, but not... a normal one. I'm half human, half ghost. A halfa. I'm what you'd call Schrodinger's ghost, I guess. ❞ a laugh, clearly trying to lighten the mood. ❝ It's not super common, even where I'm from, so I doubt you'll meet another one here besides me. ❞ or, at least, danny hoped not. the last thing he needed was to meet vlad here.
While she supposes she could have done this in her original form and appearance, Sissel wasn't sure if other humans were accepting to the idea of... well, it's already too late at this point. Maybe, in the future, she'll reveal how she truly looks like to this kid. Nooot today however.
Her expression shifted slightly, with curiousity - not malice, upon seeing him wince. Was that a bad topic for him? Should she not have brought it up? A raised eybrow, but nothing more than that. She nods, "I apologize if I wasn't supposed to witness it. I won't speak of it to anyone else, I mean it."
And then she listens - expression ... blank. There were many thoughts swirling in her head, when hearing his explanation. As for why? It reminded her of a situation, and it hit close to home, even if wasn't the exact similarities. It was simply eerie, especially when Phantom mentions Schrodinger’s.
'Haha, funny usage', she thinks to herself, arms at her side, "Oh. Wow, that's a thing, huh?" An awkward pause, as the ghost tries to recollect her thoughts. "So, you're a halfa." She repeats trying to figure out the term, which was confusing in itself. "I'll-" Gee, what could Sissel even do for the kid? It must've been an unfortunate situation that turned him into this.
"...I'll let you go back to whatever you were doing. No need to keep me company." A pause, "Take care of yourself, alright?"
★ --;; Kicking up dirt on the pavement as he runs is nothing new for Vash-- it's in his damn moniker-- so even though he's a bit more breathless now than he might have been once upon a time it's far from difficult for him to keep running. No matter how determined these guys may be, it's hard to outpace an outlaw used to running through sand dunes.
The cat wriggling out of the cradle of his arm first makes him worry ( "Hey, no, little guy, you can't hang around here--!!" ), though it's quickly replaced by raised eyebrows as a home gets made of his shoulder. It can't by the most steady place to sit, what with his current pace and all, but the cat holds its balance even as he hops over some debris that had been left out in the alleyway, almost eerily still.
It's only for a moment though, before the cat curls back into the cradle of his shoulder and the cowl of his coat. "Hang on tight, okay?" he says idly, fingers scritching in fur as he briefly slows to a trot. "Don't want you gettin' trampled."
Vash can't stay that way for long; voices aren't that far behind, and as soon as he makes sure his new companion his secure he's picking up speed again-- only for the collective sound of several heavy bodies hitting the unforgiving concrete to drift up to him.
None of them sound too happy about that little stunt, either, if the colourful expletives they've started to spit are any indication.
"That's prob'ly our queue to get outta' here, huh?" he says, darting around another corner before the amalgamation of bodies has a chance to detangle itself. It's a few more cut corners and loop arounds before Vash finally slows, even his sensitive ears unable to pick up on any more footsteps behind them.
"Stroke a' luck for once, I guess," he huffs, catching his breath. The same hand from earlier, his flesh-and-bone one, comes up to idly scratch the fur at the cat's neck one more time. "You must be a good charm, huh? The princess at home prob'ly wont be too happy to smell you on me, though."

"Meow."
One last word - and that was see you later, for now. They decide to pitter off, for now. Today was a tiring day, and now they really needed that nap.
danny paced along the edge of the path, head swiveling as bright green eyes searched for the ghost whose presence he could vaguely feel in his core. he couldn't see through the thick bushes on either side, and the murky shadows outside of the streetlight's pool were hazy even with danny's ghostly vision. he sighed, preparing himself to plunge into the darkness after it—before a voice behind him made him whirl, fists already pulling up by his face as he prepared to fight.
and then proceeded to stop. because although the creepy possessed doll was nothing new, to be honest, the spectral body beside it was. it was enough of an oddity to make danny pause, eyes narrowing just slightly in consideration even as his head tilted. the halfa was still for a moment as he listened, gaze flickering between the doll and the person as they (they? it? she? it only felt like one spirit, but danny had encountered weirder) continued to speak.
and then, like a flip was switched, danny breathed out noisily in what could only be taken as relief, arms flopping back down to his sides and the ectoenergy gathered in his palms fading away.
❝ Well, thank god. I really wasn't in the mood to fight, dude. I haven't even eaten dinner yet. And, like, ❞ a hand was waved by his head vaguely, a sheepish smile curving his mouth, ❝ I'm kind of cheating with the whole 'detecting ghosts' thing, so don't beat yourself up about it. ❞ a hand was thrust out, for a moment hesitating between who to offer it to before danny decided to simply keep it between the doll and the person and let them decide. ❝ It's nice to meet you. I'm Phantom. ❞
Hrmm. Maybe she shouldn't have used a doll? If anything she didn't really want… to be spotted in her original form. That's why Sissel used the doll, simply to hide any traces of who she is. But… maybe that wouldn't work either? Then again, she could be sensed by other ghosts back in their world very easily - simply by manipulating something - yet this kid noticed immediately.
Then there were other people who just suddenly had a keen sense of knowing where she was… Well, before her thoughts could go any further, the kid - well, apparently named… Phantom? (What kind of name is that?)
But at least he calmed down, somewhat significantly. That's a good thing right? She mostly observed him quietly for a bit.
"Uh-huh, well that's good for me at least," she folds her arms, face blank. In spite of her expression, Sissel was actually very, very nervous. A ghost she has no knowledge of, has powers, and would use said powers to fight her? Sounds very different from her usual ghosts - and again - she saw this human kid turn… into one? There's a lot of questions, yet few answers. "You're… cheating. Okay. I guess I won't?" This lead to more questions - how did he detect ghosts?
"Right, Phantom - hope you don't mind me asking a question." A pause. "Weren't you just a normal living human moments ago?"
Or was this… another of that thing.
There was a pleasant sound.
A strumming of strings… and something else? Sissel's hearing was good, but she didn't think it'd be quite pleasant to hear! So she prowled a little bit, trying to find that sound.
In just a bit she found it, and watched as the person plucked on the strings.
A rather odd way of hearing music, but SIssel wasn't much of an expert.
@silenthcwl
Most people tended to ignore him. Others tended to lean down and pet him, talking in this baby-cooing voice or something. Well, it does make sense that people do think he's just a small little creature out on a walk.
He supposes they are right. He was just a little kitty on a walk, but…
However, there was this huge guy who seemed to look at him, squarely-
As if he through him.
Sissel was a little… wary.

simply walking down the street tended to be a peaceful endeavor for danny, at least here in the sprawling splendor of the golden ward. the ocean softly shushing along the shore on one side as he walked, the blazing glory of the setting sun setting the water aflame. his shoulders were loose, muscles relaxed, no worry in his mind except for the vague question of what he was going to eat for dinner. so it was with a groan that he felt the cold start to seep up his throat, welling past his teeth to spill from danny’s mouth in an icy mist. his ghost sense. fantastic.
his transformation swept over danny like a cold bucket of water, and before long he was drifting along over the ground in search of the specter that had set him off. because even here in radiale, he couldn’t quite bring himself to ignore a threat to innocent people.
❝ Look. ❞ danny threw his voice into the shadows, letting the exasperation bleed into his tone as an ectoblast sparked across his clenched fist. ❝ Can we just get this over with? I kind of have things to do, and I don’t really have the time to throw down with every ghost in this place. ❞
Were she that rusty in not being noticed? Perhaps she was - Sissel had not dealt with other ghosts during her time where everything was supposed to be fine. Where everyone was safe. Safe back home - so to be caught out immediately by another ghost in the wild - in a place she had no experience with was… quite obvious she had still very much to learn. If anything, she had not meant to do anything but observe - to observe this young human boy that seemed a bit weird.
That was really it - then now… this young man had… this weird.. ghostly aura. He was a spirit even though he was just an alive human boy. Mere seconds ago. She's not quite sure what to think of this at all. This information was just a little too much for her - that she didn't really know what to say.
Now he was speaking to her - clearly wanting to talk. A good sign, perhaps, even if he was clearly and will perhaps fight her if she did otherwise. She manipulates a doll that falls at the odd boy's feet, her soul now in it. "I wasn't looking for a fight." She speaks, her voice emanating from the doll - hopeful enough that will calm the boy's nerves. Her soul appears alongside the doll - taking up the appearance of a person in a red suit. "… Although the fact you caught my presence immediately, makes me realize I am very rusty."
"I rather have a conversation - than have a throw down, honestly. I'm Sissel."
