I’ve done all this planning for a no-cytherea-cannan-house-au but I don’t think I’ll ever finish it because it keeps getting derailed by cam pal and dulcie just constantly fucking. like no lyctorhood mysteries are being solved because they’re too busy railing each other. Good for them tho

@thewinterstale theyre not even supposed to be the main characters of this au!!!! literally i just wanted to make a version of canaan house that was more focused on political intrigue and interpersonal dynamics, creating alliances, preventing other houses from learning your secrets, etc. but no, my brain keeps getting drawn to what those three are up to and the marathon sex theyre having. some perhaps fun details:

the only reason they have time for any of this is because the first change for this au is that abigail and palamedes team up pretty quickly. once abigail gets her hands on her first key (and isnt murdered while doing so) she realizes that access to the labs is far more important to her as a historian than actually attaining lyctorhood, so she offers to pair up with the person a) most likely to be making solid progress and b) most likely to trust her integrity as an academic and that this isnt just a ploy to hoard keys. palamedes accepts the offer of partnership mainly so that he can spend more time with dulcinea. 

pro tries to insist on walking dulcie to and from the sixth house chambers in the morning/evening because hes worried about her collapsing if she walks alone but they compromise that pro will walk her there and cam walks her back. this is how gideon figures out theyre hooking up, because she sees cam and dulcie walking together in the early morning and dulcie has on the same clothes as the day before

dulcie wears cute underwear always but she packed extra nice lingerie just in case cam and pal were down to clown. cam and pal are not ready for this no thoughts head empty first time they see even her garter straps

the main premise of temeraire is what if they had dragons in the napoleonic wars. the secondary premise of temeraire is if you're an honourable naval captain with a strong sense of duty and justice that causes you to constantly threaten that honour with your deep-seated psychologically revealing righteous fury everyone will want to fuck you so bad it makes them look stupid including napoleon and the dragon.
