Whenever I play through Pokémon games, I only use birds! And luckily there’s a lot of birds in Sun and Moon. I’ll actually have more than six Pokémon this time! I’m not even that far in and I’ve already got a full team. As you can see, the theme is pasta. These are the ones I’m using for now. Are you using any BIRD POKÉMON?
SO many good bird Pokemon in Sun & Moon.

Do me a favor? If you’re strictly a bird blog, (as in you only post bird related content, be it parrots, wild, companion, birds of prey, or any kind of avian) please reblog this and I’ll check your blog out and maybe follow. I could always use more birds on my dash.
90% birb
same!
Mostly birb, too. But sometimes other things are pretty darn cute!
Reblog this if you consider yourself part of Birblr
I want to see how many of us there are! (The only requirement for being part of birblr is wanting to be part of birblr! You don’t need to have a bird or blog about birds to be part of the community)
Hummingbirds: Nests, Eggs, and Chicks
their nests are so darling
I've always wanted to see a hummingbird nest.
I hate.. any glorification of war, but I think there is something very sweet about animals getting medals for doing a great job. I especially love it when they get to retire to comfy, non-demanding lives after their service. In WWII, 32 out of the 53 medals issued to animals went to pigeons. They’re so helpful and brave, its a tragedy we think so little of pigeons now!
Look at this dashing picture I found of GI Joe! He flew 20 miles in 20 minutes, and saved a thousand people from a bombing in Italy. He retired alongside other pigeon heroes and lived a long life of 18 years!
… Gallantry!
Another good pigeon war story is that of Kaiser, who became the most famous jailbird — he was originally a German bird who became a prisoner-of-war after he was caught by Americans. Upon capture he was drafted into a breeding program and sired over 100 children for America’s side. He died at 33 (that is a ridiculously long life for a pigeon - almost unbelievable. An extremely healthy bird!) making him the only pigeon to serve in both world wars.
My friend just saw this on her Facebook and asked me to signal boost it. Please help!
Fabrit toy ever!
I've been meaning to get one of these for Gilly. I think she'd like it.
If you follow our Instagram, then you already know about the incident we had Tuesday. 😖 I've started working from home & so the birdies get to stay out all day. They are so much happier! Well, I've been letting them out of their cages in the living room and working in my office, which is the first turn down our hallway. The door is open so they can come hang out on the play stand, but they rarely ever do. They've done well to play independently on their cages and not get into any trouble. I come out and check on them regularly and take cuddle breaks. They are literally like 6 feet away from me. Well, it was after lunch when I heard a lot of fussing, which I realized quickly was probably a squabble. I bolted around the corner and Gilly was on top of Sam's cage, which she does often, and Sam was in his cage with the door open. He was clinging to cage bars on the side and she was sitting on the cage bars on the top. They were bickering between the bars for whatever reason. So I rush over to get Gilly off and they are just steady bird cussing each other. Sam had moved away when he saw me come to rescue him, but Gilly wanted to stand her ground and fight it out. 🙄 Small bird syndrome. So I gently pry her off the cage and as soon as she's removed from the chaos she pulls her leg in like she's hurt. I do a quick check and see no blood. Inside I'm panicking. I glance over Sam, he's fine. I take Gilly to my office and at this point she's bleeding. It's clear she has some kind of injury. The bleeding didn't seem so bad, but knowing Sam's beak, I figured her leg and/or foot was fractured. I immediately text everyone I know who could help me. My vet is out of town. The back up vets are an hour away. My husband calls the avian vet. It's about 4 o'clock and they won't stay there to see us because they stop seeing patients at 4:45 and I can't get there until 5:00-5:30. He calls the ER vet, we need an appointment. WHAT THE HELL!?! By this point the bleeding has stopped and I've seen her rub her head with her foot so I'm just not sure the extent of the injury and what to do. Feeling absolutely helpless and terrified and trying not to cry when I get work calls while I'm sitting at my desk consoling my baby bird. Finally the director of the rescue where I got Sam sees my messages and tells me to call her. I immediately start bawling my eyes out when she answers. She told me from her experience and based on the details I gave her, she would probably wait until the next day, which ended up being a good thing since the ER vet failed me! She said when they clip nails for blood work she has had birds hold their foot for two days afterwards. Ok that's a relief, because at this point I start questioning if we have more injury or more bruised ego. She told me to watch the ankle band, which I was already worried about; but this band, which I've debated for the last year on removing, is probably what saved the day. That band assumably took the most impact from the bite, sparing Gilly's bones and minimizing trauma. At this point my husband comes home and Gilly is excited to see him. She's using her foot gently, but had a limp. She was still willing to do whatever possible to get hemp seeds. Once he was home to hold her I was able to really examine her leg and feel it and move it. She checked out ok. All good signs. I put her up for a couple of hours to eat and rest and before I went to bed I checked her for swelling. The next day she seemed a lot better and she's made progress since then. The only remnant of this fiasco is that her grip strength hasn't returned 10/10, but it gets stronger every day. She has no issues walking, climbing, perching, hopping or landing with both feet. She ultimately suffered a small laceration, strain or contusion to the foot/lower leg and a badly bruised ego! It took me a solid 3 hours to calm down after all this happened. We got so lucky. Thank God for that ankle band. Gilly is now either in my office with me when she's out or they are both secured in their cages. FYI - it's not easy trying to work with a bird obsessed with your mouse, keyboard, or phone. Especially a bird who likes to push the receiver button that hangs up on people. But it's worth not ever going through that again!!
Sunday scratches.
What kind of strange conure is this?? It looks like my Blue Crowned, but the colors aren't right. I'm intrigued!
Please like and/or reblog this if you are a pet bird blog. I’m trying to make a list of all the active ones on Tumblr. Could be about your own birds or pet birds in general. If you’re posting the parrots (or other captive birds) AND ONLY THAT (in other words you’re at least nearly always strictly just a bird blog) please like and/or reblog. Thank you!
Does anyone else worry about what would happen if there was a house fire/other natural disaster and you couldn’t get your pets out in time
Yes, all the time! I'm prepared for most natural disasters common to our area, but I can't combat a house fire, especially if I'm not at home.
Our BLOG is ONE YEAR OLD today! Yesterday we celebrated Gilly's first Gotcha Day by....giving her an empty box to play with?? She moved her favorite cup into it, so I guess that means she approves. 😂 This morning I watched some of the first videos I ever took of her & it's amazing to hear the sounds she used to make. A combination of young baby bird (3 months old at the time) and nervous bird in a new home. Her sounds and voice have changed so much. Don't even get me started on her huge vocabulary when back then I thought I'd be lucky to have a green cheek that said ANYTHING! Also funny, is seeing me call her a "he" before we knew better. I can't believe I would've ever thought Queen G could be a boy! She's too fabulous. 👑👑👑 I so love my little beeb. ❤️
