"Did you find what you needed?"
2.01 "A Son for a Son"
I really don't understand the desire of the screenwriters to make absolutely everything in this series revolve around Alicent. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but all the events of the series REALLY don't need to be focused on her. Show me how Helaena runs to Aegon with her daughter in her arms. She finds him in the throne room and the whole company freezes, seeing her in tears, with a cut on her neck. The smile fades from Aegon's face when he realizes that something irreparable has happened. He sobers up immediately. Finish the episode on his face when Helaena says that Jaehaerys was killed and after we were watching the development of Aegon's relationship with his son, it'll hurt. Let me see the moment when he realizes that while he was getting drunk with friends on the throne, his son was being killed. Show me his eyes when he realizes that the fragile happiness he had was destroyed and he couldn't prevent it in any way. Children are the only thing these two have in common, it's their tragedy, don't take it away from them.
House of the Dragon ā S02E01 'A Son For a Son'
'It was a raven that brought me news of Laena's death. I existed for weeks in torment refusing to believe what I'd been told. It was only when I saw my daughter's mortal remains that I could mourn her. A raven told Rhaenyra that her son is dead. She needs to know for certain.'

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I canāt just ābuy it.ā They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. Theyāre barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. Itās scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: itās exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ācopiesā of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we arenāt allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I canāt pay to own it, I wonāt pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, Iām going to pirate and support piracy.
Addendum: This is also a really good reason to support trust-busting. A lot of this obnoxious behavior is only possible because corporations wield monopoly power.
another addendum: most modern (4K UHD) blurays use a form of online DRM that requires the player software to access a server to get title specific decryption keys. you don't really own a film on one of those disks any more than you do on streaming, the only way to truly preserve it is to rip off the disks or from streaming, not even the physical media you can "buy" can necessarily be preserved anymore.
PIRACY ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE MEDIA PRESERVATION
The thing about Cottagecore is that is a fetishized aesthetic of country life, divorced from labor and idealized by a primarily urban audience with a backward looking ethos of tradition. They are not prepared for the stresses of a rural life: farming; harvesting; tapping pumpkins to ensure none of them have been replaced with flesh; losing out on income by having to use one of your pigs in a blood sacrifice to paint protective sigils over your doors and windows; checking cracks and chimneys for the flesh-vines of the Pumpkin Lord; having to decide, before the Growth is complete, whether that's really your tradwife or an amassment of vines, leaves, and blood in the shape of your tradwife; ignoring their desperate pleas that "I'm me! No! No!" as you burn them alive, realizing too late you picked wrong; and the exploitative corporate nature of commercial farming in 2024. All seen through a deeply colonial lens, of course
When I made this post I did not expect it to be an effective test of which Tumblr users actually read a post fully before reblogging, and yet
U.S. people, if you bought cinnamon from Dollar Tree, Dollar General, or other discount stores, throw it out. It's got lead
Ground cinnamon sold in U.S. discount stores is contaminated with high levels of lead and should be discarded. The U.S.
They add lead and other heavy metals to increase the weight and thus increase profits
@crystalann5 I feel I need to address you're tags because I think you're conflating scaremongering with genuine PSAs.
#don't forget the grated parmesian ācheeseā has saw dust in it#and I think the rice has plastic in it
Sawdust is just wood cellulose, a harmless insoluble fiber that helps push food through the digestive system and supports regular bowel movements. It is added to parmesan specifically to absorb any excess moisture and reduce the possibility of spoilage and, in powdered products, it can reduce clumping.
It is FDA approved and food safe.
Some companies might be adding more sawdust to powdered parmesan than is strictly necessary to reduce spoilage, in order to fool customers into thinking there's more cheese in the container than there actually is. And while that is kind of shitty of them, it's not *dangerous* to customers. It's just extra fiber.
Lead, unlike sawdust, is an actual poison that poses actual danger to small children especially.
It's not the same thing at all.
.
As for rice containing plastic, well pretty much everything now contains trace amounts of microplastics because the plastics industry keeps dumping toxic plastic waste into rivers and oceans with impunity.
But the specific rumor about China selling plastic rice and trying to pass it off has real has been soundly debunked:
Reports hold plastic rice made in China flooded Western markets, but you'd probably notice if your dinner tasted like the bag in which you c
Fox news and tiktok and facebook love to make it sound like all food additives are dangerous poisons and msg and potassium sorbate cause cancer, etc. etc. and it's mostly complete bullshit. There is a big difference between Consumer Reports doing an actual study and some health guru influencer on instagram telling you that eating cheetos causes adhd.
It's important to have discernment and be able to differentiate between real health warnings from reputable scientists and fabricated food hysteria.
