I was trying to figure out why tenna was modeled in this style and I think this is the reason. Notice how smooth certain details on him look after adding the filter, especially his hands and face. He looks so odd because he's designed specifically for an obsolete format and looks really weird outside of that medium.

One of the things that stuck with me is hearing (I think from this site) that unhoused people don’t have the privilege of having their worse times in private. I’m sure most of us have had times that, if people were there to see, we would have looked “crazy”, been “off”, “disruptive”, etc. And being able to have a place to (mostly) safely break down is such a fucking privilege.

TV-14 rating like Fiona and Cake was so there's a smidge more leeway in the topics they could explore, and to what Depth they can be explored. Also I want Lars to say at least One swear, lol.
Fluorite's components would be fun to see! Perhaps they have to unfuse for a recon mission, or something.
This may finally be a good time to do the plotline with Rhodonite's components and her OG Morganite. Maybe she gets kidnapped by her original "owner" and has to be rescued?
I would love for Lars and crew to be a shining light towards all numbers of fusions and mistreated Gems who are still caught under the rule of Era 2 sympathizers who haven't yet conformed to new Era standards.
Re: the above, I just want to see more juice on what old Era 2 elites are thinking in this new Era. Which ones are begrudgingly conforming? Which ones are ready to throw a coup?
In fact, who got elected to be Homeworld's new leader? How are they doing? Are Gems listening to their authority, or are they struggling to keep the peace?
I am VERY curious to know what "smuggling contraband" means in the context of this show if it IS set post SUF, as... what kind of contraband are they stealing that would be illegal to the new Gem leadership? Perhaps they're stealing from old Homeworld elites Robin Hood style, or something. Or... perhaps the new Gem leadership itself gets hijacked by old Era 2 sympathizers and they have to push back on that.
It would be interesting if one of the crew happened to leave mid show because they found a genuine calling somewhere else, and someone new joined the gang in their place. Specifically, because I'd love to see how a new personality meshes with all the other characters.
More Padparadscha content where she isn't always the butt of the joke- the comics did a nice job at finding ways to make her ability very useful to the plot, so more of that in this show would be cool.
It would be cool to see more twinned Gems like the two Rutiles.
I kinda feel like a Steven appearance is unlikely bc I don't know if Zach Callison is down to be involved, but he COULD show up in spirit through Stevonnie. That would be cool for a midseason "event" episode.
It would also, of course, be nice to see the Crystal Gems again. If they make any appearance, I have to imagine it would be in a bombastic season finale.
Hessonite, please. Bring Hessonite to the main show.
I'd like to see Fluorite's components too! We know Rebecca has drawn them. It could be something more fun like maybe Fluorite is flirting with someone new and wants the new Gem to meet all her components individually too.
Everybody in the Off Colors is pretty one-note in the show because they don't have much time to develop them, so I'm REALLY looking forward to some development for them. I'm absolutely sure these characters are in competent hands.
I'd love to see Emerald again, as well as Hessonite too! (Some of the characters from the games would be neat to see as animated versions.)
I'd love some cameos from the original Crystal Gems just to check in with them. And communications can be long-range so maybe Lars can call Steven once in a while or he can jump through his hair to help. (The show has recast major characters before, especially for bit parts/lower participation, but it'd obviously be way cooler if Zach voiced any participation by Steven.)
. . . And I know a lot of people get tired of Padparadscha's existence as a living punchline, I hope they don't feel like they have to "fix" her "disability" to make her interesting. I'd love to know more about her inner life.
(And I still want her to pop up at the end of the theme song to say "Everyone! We're getting our own show!")
Ohhh I LOVE that idea with Fluorite splitting to introduce her components to a new potential romantic partner! That would be so fun, and also hilariously chaotic, given how many Gems would then be active in that scene, ahahah.
Hessonite may be a bit of a pipe dream given her source material is now lost media that can't be accessed by new people, but perhaps they can "re-introduce" her in this show from scratch. Her VA does way too good a job to leave that character in the games only, IMO. I'd love for more people to get the chance to know and love her.
And I agree wholeheartedly, re: "please don't Fix Padparadscha." Her power very much can come in clutch in the right circumstances to provide more clarity to an event or conversation, as we've already seen, so it's not like they would need to do that to make her "useful." I doubt they'd erase that part of her IMO, since the whole point of the Off Colors is that they're, well... off color to Homeworld's old standards.
I don't want to SUPER hope for Steven content, but I do know that Zach has only said good things about his involvement with Rebecca Sugar and co, and has in fact taken a few VA jobs lately... From what I'm aware, I think his main thing was that he wanted to step away from the toxic social media sphere and take time to recover from the horrific stress of it all mentally.
The one thing I DO NOT WANT from this show is a concrete answer to how the Diamonds formed.
I am fine with a deepening of the mystery of that origin, ala a "creation myth," but I don't want the show to tell me point blank how it happened, because for me personally it would ruin a lot of the mystique about the Diamonds.
Something it would also be good to do for Padparadscha: Clarify how her power works.
From what the show puts down, I thought it meant "sees forward accurately but her future vision DVR is permanently behind". One hundred percent, @citrusella-flugpucker --Padparadscha has Future Vision! But it's operating on a delay, meaning she is still able to relay her observations with unusual insight, even if they're late. I made a comic about that a while back. Fluorite describes it as "she can predict things that just happened." I think that's accurate! She's a Sapphire still.
And @novantinuum, I too don't need "concrete" answers about the Diamonds! I know that's kind of an unpopular viewpoint--there are a lot of people out there raging that we "never got answers" about certain things, but how small that universe would seem if we could literally answer everything about everything! I think it's WAY more interesting if the Diamonds have their "quasi-religious" origin story that we can understand as part of their cultural heritage while understanding that it's not, like, scientific--like many human stories of creation around the world have different beliefs about how deities were involved in humans' genesis.
Oh and one thing I can't believe I forgot to say I need in the spinoff:

I do also want to reiterate that she of course Absolutely doesn't need to be "useful" in any way to be a cherished member of Lars' crew and a worthwhile character to root for- but I am definitely curious to see how the show will utilize her unique power for more plot relevant matters beyond funny punchlines, which... are Definitely cute to me. I just want to see More. Show me what you got, sweetie!
Re: Diamond origins, what I specifically think could be interesting is if even WHITE doesn't understand her origins. Perhaps the question of how they came to exist is part of the core mysteries of this show- but Also, ultimately, the HOW isn't as important as what they (and the rest of Gemkind, too!) choose to make of their lives NOW. Maybe the "answer" is simply that there IS no real answer, and it will forever be obscured to quasi-religious Gem mythology.
And OH MY GOD, YEAH- I can't believe I forgot Lars' potential powers in my wish list!! He's been resurrected the same as Lion, surely he's got something up his sleeves-? Perhaps they're different powers that are unique to him, perhaps they're the same- who knows. But I'm sure he's got something. Could be an interesting development that is unlocked along the way.
Yes! And in a podcast Rebecca Sugar did say that Lars has the same powers as Lion and that when he discovers them it "will be really funny." And then "don't worry about it." Maybe they had hoped to show his discovery of the powers in a planned episode and couldn't really do that now because it would be weird if he didn't discover those powers sometime in the ensuing years between end of OG show and beginning of Movie, but yeah. I really wanna know what the "funny" discovery would have been. Maybe we'll still get it, like the other dangled tidbits we got about Off Color history (Rhodonite's backstory being a big one).
OH and even though I assume he's gonna be dressed like a Space Pirate mostly, I think it would be SO FUNNY if Lars had themed shirts about resurrection that were like, SF and video game references. I drew that once.
this one kinda hurts when i see it every pride month. im glad to see an art piece of mine still circulating, and with nearly 100,000 notes too! it just hurts that im separated from it. everyone in the notes thinks im gone. im still here, but my potential community and connection is lost because im forgotten in place of the art. yeah, my deactivated profile does add to the profoundness of what i was saying, but i am still removed.
I think the biggest thing mascot horror things need to get a grip on is the reasonable balance of cute/creepy. The mascot in question needs to be cute enough to realistically be for children but scary enough to actually make for effective horror. Most games always lean too far in either direction and idk maybe it's just me but immersion with these kinds of games are important for me to actually find enjoyment in them.

Next up! Technically ☝️this isn't in my collection anymore because a friend claimed it at a sticker sorting party but Flea-Wee Vermin still haunts my nightmares. (It gets better/worse the longer you look at it.)
Then of course we have the "normal at a first glance" stickers. Then you glance twice. And you ask Questions. I go on a whole rant about the middle sticker here.
As the last category: my oldest brother and I have. Very little in common. But he understands that I like stickers, and he enjoys a good sticker as well. It's just our definition of a good sticker is very different. So he sends me stuff like this. (Likely because his main use for stickers is to decorate his gun collection). He is the only person I know that fits the "guns + stickers" niche, though. I have no use for these 😭.
But to his credit, sometimes my brother hits gold. Like this John Wick sticker.
I'm sure I have more, but these are the ones I immediately thought of. The world of stickers is vast and weird and beautiful. It's good to stay humble.
Btw if you like this kind of sticker, I keep track of them with my "a little to the left" tag! There's not a ton in there, but it's a very fun tag nonetheless.
It's been just over a year since Deltarune chapters 3 & 4 released! I did the 3D work, which mostly means Tenna 📺 I figured it's been long enough to share some "behind the scenes" stuff, starting with a look at the Maya file for his static poses...
I'd individually render the poses to get that early 3D shine ✨ Here's some of them at their original resolutions! I would work from text descriptions from Toby, and sometimes there'd be a Paint sketch to help out. Gigi drew the concept that I modeled from and some poses too!
I had a lot of fun pushing myself to match the dynamic poses Toby had in mind for Tenna - making him so crazy and expressive was something I couldn't have done without his prompts. He'd draw the faces on afterward too, which really brought Tenna to life!

There was a time when I was struggling to capture what he wanted for these specific Tenna poses… Until Toby acted them out himself, and I thought, "Ah, it's like that. I understand." and then I was able to make them just how he pictured them.
When looking through the renders and choosing what to share, I laughed at these two… Remember when Tenna had a gun? Remember when he bent over in a very specific way that might remind you of another, different image? No? Maybe you don't…? Well. Don't worry about it.
These ones are cute… Tenna is pretty cute sometimes! Has anyone ever thought this? Actually, before people knew he was going to be a strange 3D sprite the Whole Time, I was worried people wouldn't like the style and it'd sour people's views on him. I'm glad that didn't happen.
Toby thought it would be funny to have Tenna do some really smooth, mocapped animations sometimes - specifically free to use ones that often pop up in other things. An extra funny part to me is how many frames these take up in the game, and how his tails are stuck to his legs…
Speaking of mocap, Toby wanted Tenna to use custom mocap animations as far back as 2016 - Ten(na) years ago! I got an Xbox Kinect at the time and learnt how to set this up, but then never used it. Here's a look at messing with mocaped stuff again in 2022. So Normal.
Don't bother trying to help him here, he's just being dramatic 🙄
I particularly like these poses - I think I improvised most of these just based off the context they get used in… I always liked posing his tie and coat tails as if they were also parts of his body he could move. Which I guess they are?
After I rendered out the individual poses in high quality, I'd force the color palette to be limited to just a few shades and then I'd shrink the result down to pixel sized sprites. Like these! I'd tidy them up a little, but they'd really get improved on at the pixel scale by Clairvoire.
As well as Tenna's sprites, I also worked on his intro "movie"…! Seeing people be completely overloaded by this on first playthroughs would always make me laugh. In game, there's a ton of extra editing done by Everdraed, but my unedited cut looks like this ⬇️
This was the entire storyboard I had to work from, and I'm realizing now that there's the note "put him in car etc" that I never did and actually don't know what it would mean exactly. Working on this had me listen to the accompanying audio many times, but it's good so it's okay.

For the 3D Ralsei clip from the intro, Toby really wanted it to look a certain way, and drew more sketches for guiding me with this part than any other. They genuinely helped.
Remember how Toby's original storyboard has the note "covered in slime and shrinks"? That meant I had to learn how to make 3D slime. You can see my tech advancing here.
I'm really happy with how the final Tenna animation at the end of the intro movie turned out! It wouldn't look as good if it wasn't for some 2D animation to reference from SmallBuStudio, so thank you to them for the help! Tenna is cute… Huh, I already said that…?
