You walk downstairs to your kitchen. You know you look like a mess, hair slightly tussled, a ratty old too-tight t-shirt on, and your pajama pants riding low on your hip bones, but you also know that no one outside of your family will see you like this, so itās fine. You just really want breakfast.
What you didnāt expect to see as you turned the corner into the kitchen was your mom and dad both sitting at the kitchen table.
āGood morning,ā you say to them as you beeline for the fridge.
āY/N, come sit down,ā your dad says, solemnly.
Uh oh, you think. What could I have done this time? He sounds serious. Your mom wonāt look you in the eye as you abandon your quest for food and sit down at the table with them.
āYouāre old enough now to know that times have been tough for everybody,ā your dad starts. Itās true. Youāre sixteen now. You know all about the financial issues that have been affecting the people around you.
āDad, are we poor?ā You ask hesitantly.
Your parents both look at you for a stunned moment before laughing heartily.
āOh, no! No, sweetie, we havenāt been affected,ā your mom says as her laughter dies down.
āNot at all,ā your dad continues. āBut others havenāt been so lucky. Thatās why weāve done something a bit drastic.ā
āDrastic?ā You repeat.
āCome in, boys,ā your mom calls to the door that leads outside. In walks none other than Niall, Liam, Harry, Louis, and Zayn.
āWe bought One Direction.ā
