Please stop sharing the photo of Kohen Wiley the 1 year old Black boy murdered in Mississippi. The family has asked that we stop sharing his photo. Instead we should be circulating his murderers photo EVERYWHERE so that the world can know who he is and what he has done. The life that he stole, the lives that he shattered. Please share his face instead of poor baby Kohen. May his family know justice. âđœÂ #kohenwiley #hunterfoster #killercops #acab
Donât EVER let this demonic excuse of humanity, this vile filth ever walk free
tangential to last reblogged post, one of the single biggest things you can do as an adult to improve communication between you and children and increase their overall ease in ANY situation is to allow them to express emotions to you without minimizing it. it can be very very tempting to bust out 'it won't be so bad' when a kid is afraid of something or a 'you'll see them again soon' when a kid is homesick but i promise you, i PROMISE you that the kid will be better served by a "that DOES sound really scary" or a "you look like you feel REALLY sad that mom is gone". you will not escalate things by bringing further attention to the hard emotions, because things escalate when a kids reality is denied by those with power over them.
james baldwin was so right when he said âthe children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.â

oh do I have the game for you
I could . not. put. this down for 48 hours - stayed up too late, had weird dreams about it, woke up early, and played it while I was supposed to be doing other things. the last several dozen items took a lot of googling, which I do not even begrudge it.
and then. My partner started it. And the SAME THING happened to him.
surprisingly compelling. start when you have free time. like, yanno, a snow day.
JFC this was a game for me! I have been doing it for two days now, I'm NOT finished. I even dreamt about it tonight - or at least about sorting things into categories. AMAZING.
Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.
And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.
It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.
when I was in high school, I overheard two older students talking about a friend of theirs.
One of them said something like, "it doesn't bother me that [Friend] was in residential mental health treatment, I just wish they wouldn't talk about it ALL the time".
The other replied, "Well, that was all of last year for them. So when they say 'when I was in treatment,' it's like when you say 'last year'."
I try to remember that any time someone says something that sounds Shocking to me. sometimes one person's scary special crisis is another person's last year.
If you want to be accepting of mental illness, you need to accept the fact that some people's everyday lives are going to be terrifying to you. That doesn't mean they don't get to talk about it. Stop forcing hurt, isolated people to become even MORE hurt and isolated because you can't fathom toughening up a bit.
