THE LAST OF US (2023—) 1x01: When You’re Lost in the Darkness
Haha, Im in danger :)
No bc Joel only just missed seeing Bill and Frank again. Judging by the mold on their plates, they'd only been gone maybe a week, max. Joel was so close to seeing them again, to being able to tell them what happened. To being able to tell someone who genuinely cared about Tess, someone who knew them and would understand. Someone who would grieve for Tess- who could grieve for Tess in a way Joel couldn't- and someone who would grieve for Joel, too.
the fact that they acknowledged in the dialogue their awareness of the bury your gays trope and established that this is not that, that these two got a happy ending all things considered. my god.
THE LAST OF US | 1.03
Bill and Frank’s house is such an important metaphor.
It started out purely functional, a place for Bill to live, loaded with weapons and traps and isolation. By the end of the episode, though, it’s transformed into a temple to their love. Art everywhere, Frank‘s paintings of Bill on every wall, even stacked up since every inch of space is already covered in paintings and art and love. Bill has transformed, from someone who will kill to keep himself alive to someone who can’t imagine living without someone else.
The house has changed. Bill has changed.
and I think I’m gonna love you for a long, long time

my reactions to episode 3 of the last of us hbo summed up
God, Ellie has so much anger inside of her. Ever since she saw Joel kill that soldier, there’s been this little spark of revenge that’s slowly been growing bigger and bigger. It comes out in ways that could seem like just her being a kid, like asking for a gun, or the “you get him?” comment when she asks about Joel’s scar. And then comes the scene with the infected trapped under the rubble. You think she’s afraid at first, with the way she freezes.
Then she realizes it’s trapped, and she gets closer. And you’re like, “what? what is she doing?”
And then you see her face.
That is not the face of somebody who’s afraid.
Ellie is furious. She lost Riley to these things, and now Tess as well, and she wants it dead. And personally I can’t wait to see where they take it, because this is only the beginning of Ellie’s warpath, and she’s got a long, long road ahead of her.
I'm so serious when I say murray bartlett deserves an emmy simply for how he played the difference in frank's feelings during his first meal with bill compared to his last. in the podcast druckmann and mazin were talking about how the later scenes with bill and frank were a study in the kind of love that only comes about as a product of time and commitment and that is clearer nowhere than in murray's performance here. it's wonderment vs fondness. it's that first spark of infatuation where you can barely believe this is happening evolving into deep, abiding love where you know exactly where you stand. it's romance that becomes belonging. it's saying, "wow, look at everything this guy has here!" becoming, "wow, look at everything we've built together here". and it's one of the absolute most beautiful journeys I've ever seen on screen, and murray bartlett told it without saying a single word.

Good evening I cannot remember if this is technically ATYD-Canon compliant but it certainly is fanart of it.
Perhaps a photo that Teddy finds at the flat?
