"Hey, whatever Jere might have done to screw this up, he's your brother. Just cut him some slack." "He didn't do anything. I did." "What?"
The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022-2025), 3x09 - "Last Call"
My most precious quote of all in Sunrise on the Reaping is “I didn't want to let them in, her and Peeta, but the walls of a person's heart are not impregnable, not if they have ever known love.”
BECAUSE love truly saves. I'm sick of people trying to devalue love as one of the main plots of The Hunger Games, when it constantly shows us that love builds, heals, and saves the characters. Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta build their lives after trauma, pain, and loss with love as their foundation. Yes, love doesn't solve everything, but it's strong enough to give us hope every day if, and only if, we're brave enough to choose it, even if it means losing it at some point.
Honestly the "but Peeta wanted kids so bad" line from the Mockingjay epilogue is really funny to me because for three books Katniss has been projecting her desire for children onto a guy who hasn't really ever verbally expressed any interest in having kids, so I do genuinely think the whole "kids vs. no kids" debate happened entirely internally for Katniss and one day she just went "ok, you win, let's have kids" and Peeta's at the kitchen table like"?????? Ok??????"
