Messages from readers telling me how much my writing has made their day, or got them through the day, made them laugh, cry, walk away from the computer/tablet/phone because FEELINGS... ugh. It’s the best thing ever. It’s my crack.
Basically, reader feedback is my drug of choice.
tumblr is so annoying y'all can’t just write off people’s entire existences because they’ve done a couple things that weren’t so great do you do that to people in real life like if your friend forgets to use their turn signal or swears in front of a child do you just write them off as problematic trash and never speak to them again how are you living your lives like this it must be exhausting

I don’t know why everyone finds issue with certain people romanticizing certain things. The majority of stories spun around the world and throughout history were spun to romanticize certain problematic aspects of human life. Just because a writer or simply someone creating a headcanon makes something seem nicer or easier to fix doesn’t mean they truly believe that. It could just mean they wish it was, or they want to make something dark slightly more lighthearted. Same goes with dark humor.
It’s not everyone. Mostly just the tumblr speshul snoflakes who read an article about the Civil Rights movement, or took a class on modern feminism that one time, or had a clever response to something asshole-ish mentioned on the meninist twitter feed, and suddenly think they’re fighting against the powers of darkness by bitching about video games on fucking tumblr.

As a woman who looks forward to “lotsa ‘splosions and guns” movies, I’ve been happily consuming male power trip shoot-’em-ups for years, and it never occurred to me to complain that Hollywood was “tricking” me into seeing Liam Neeson kicks some dude’s teeth in, or Bruce Willis pick off a room full of fugly alien terrorists, by dangling a supporting female character, or a female love interest, or--fuck--a woman in the background doing background stuff as if they were bait.
God fucking help us that an action movie comes out as part of an action movie franchise and adds a female main character hero who fucks shit up and steals a bit of the existing hero’s thunder. The nerve.
I mean... can the cognitive dissonance be any worse?
