Just some info in case it can help anyone

These are small pet nail clippers. I got them when I got guinea pigs and rabbits. Tried using them on rats but rats' nails are way too small and usually they take care of their own nails (with rare exceptions) but that's neither here nor there.

What matters is that I discovered they have another great use. They effectively cut zip ties/cable ties.

I use zip ties for all sorts of things, from holding pieces of my pets' cages together to assembling my reborn dolls. Zip ties are versatile and amazing. But sometimes hard to cut.

These nail clippers are perfect for cutting them.

So uh. Yeah. I highly suggest keeping a pair at hand if you find yourself having encounters with zip ties. They're pretty cheap and available at most pet stores, and maybe any store that carries pet supplies. You don't need the fancy ones, just the cheap simple ones.

One of the good things about the small animal nail clippers is you're not gonna cut yourself or anything else with them. The sharp part is contained by the rounded edge.

That's nice when working close to flesh or the delicate material of doll parts. Dolls are often held together by zip ties, so I have to disassemble them and the clippers are good for being sharp enough to cut the ties without cutting the cloth or vinyl of the doll.

I looked up what other people use for cutting zip ties and they're all really sharp and not great options if you're working with anything that could be easily damaged.

So yeah, I highly suggest keeping a pair of these in your house or on your person if you find yourself around zip ties.

Last time we had a tornado threat, I zip tied mine to the side of a bird cage so I wouldn't lose them. I did it loose enough that I could cut the zip tie with the clippers lol. But I figured in an emergency, those were important to have. Especially since I zip tie all my bird cages closed for tornado threats. I wanted to be sure I could open the cages quickly if I needed to.

So yeah. Zip Ties. Small Animal Nail Clippers. Life savers.

I just really like zip ties.

I use them to hold together my homemade guinea pig and rabbit cages. I used to use them to hold together some of my rat cages because the metal clips the cages came with never held tightly enough. I use them to put together my reborn dolls. I use them to secure the doors of my bird cages for emergencies.

But zip ties can be dangerous. So I make sure I have a way to cut them in every room. I discovered these clippers were the best way by accident. I don’t even remember when I started using them lol. But the one time I didn’t, I sliced open my thumb with the sharp thing I was trying to cut a zip tie with lol. Never again.

You can actually get them in a few different sizes, tiny ones for small animals, slightly larger for cats.

The dog ones are also made with a spring so you can get a bit more power behind them for cutting tougher nails, and they come in different sizes too. All of which have the rounded front to protect the animals delicate skin/pads.

Working in a salon we do also ziptie a lot of things, such as the clipper holders to the tables and wires to keep them out of the way, obviously they occasionally need to be removed and I can confirm the best thing we have to do that is the nail clippers.
