Because it was Chrissy, that little 6th grade girl that had smiled at him with genuine care and told him “good luck” with all her heart… Jesus H. Christ! he loved her since that second. And he had to say it to her no matter what. So he searched for her, leaving Hawkins and Indiana without looking back. But even the most determined mind pales facing reality. An absence. Hers. And the absence of leads and hope. After 3 years, somewhere in the middle of Illinois, Eddie gave up. He parked his van on the roadside, hands tightened on the steering wheel, still, a terrible pop song on the radio, and shed tears of mourning he had refused to shed for years…
All I need is two decades of Joseph Quinn and Grace Van Dien starring in every single genre possible.

"the duffer brothers messed up" is a common refrain and i'm not saying i disagree BUT tbh hellcheer is better off in the hands of fanfic writers.
like yeah sure, i've got my personal fave hcs for eddie and chrissy, but as a reader, i love that i can enjoy fics with wildly different tones and interpretations of the two people in that magical forest scene and each one can feel correct in the context of the story i'm reading. that is just heaven.

The writers in this fandom are able to explore the multiverse of this pairing so beautifully, and I love all of the flavors one can find. From “Eddie Munson is a virgin who can’t drive” to “Chrissy Cunnigham needs a hug” to “tooth-rotting fluff” to “Jason Carver is his own warning” to “I don’t know how Craigslist works and at this point I’m too scared to ask”, there are so many options, and all of them are valid and wonderful.

Fan Fiction
I miss my creative writing juices.
Anyone else around here feeling like they went through fan fiction menopause these past half decade?
I was hot and heavy in fan fiction for about thirteen years (2003-2016), mainly because the jobs I had allowed me to write on my down-time. With a switch in positions in 2015, I lost a lot of that freedom.
Another issue was that I became aware of how potentially toxic my pairings were, and I started second-guessing what I was writing. There was usually a severe power-imbalance within them, and that bothered me to the point that I felt like the stories were tainted. I did look for other inspiration, but nothing really got me off like my fucked-up pairings, and that just seemed unhealthy.
To take that a step further, I had difficulty separating the actors portraying some of my favorite characters. The old saying is true: never meet your heroes. I met a few of mine and the experiences were mixed at best. I didn’t feel like writing about their characters for a very long time.
The last thing which I’ve had to deal with is a partner whose need for emotional stimulation make me feel drained much of the time. I love him. He’s a good man. I plan on spending the rest of my life with him. He’s also an extravert, not in the least bit shy about asking for attention, and gets a little pouty when I point out that I need some goddamn peace and quiet to be able to create.
As in, “Yes, for the hundredth time, you needy little fuck, I do love you, now leave me alone because I don’t want to deal with you interrupting me as I write.”
All of these are excuses. If I wanted to, I would find a way to write.
How about I start here? One bitchy journal entry into my Tumblr is better than nothing.
Maybe I’ll write again tomorrow.

I logged into my old Yahoo account after 12 months and discovered that everything had been deleted.
Part of me feels a little sad. I had that account for a good 20 years. There were some really shitty fan fiction ideas I saved in it, and now they’re gone.
Another part of me feels freed. There were things from past relationships and partnerships that brought me pain, and now those memories are gone. It’s as if someone took all of my love letters from people I should have never dated and tossed them into a bonfire.
For some reason, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
Some things I appreciate when reading pr0n / erotic fiction: when someone with a penis and testicles has an orgasm and there is reference to semen.
There are so many bad fan fics out there featuring a dude climaxing with no mention of cum at all.

This is the man who taught Kate Beckinsale (Selene, Underworld series) everything she knows about guns. His name is Scott McElroy, and he starred as “Soren” in the first movie. You know the one with the death glare who got all those great close-ups? That’s him!
He’s a retired police officer, SWAT operator, and gang detective, and teaches tactical firearms courses as well as tactical casualty care through his company, MacTac. He also posts educational videos on different subjects, which are great for writers who might want to add some verisimilitude to their action scenes. The one above is the start of a series on on Concealed Carry for Weapons.
I’m moving to the West Coast next year, and I’m so excited to take courses from him because he’s a treasure trove of fascinating information, plus, from all accounts I’ve read, he’s an awesome, down-to-earth man who’s committed to people being able to defend themselves.
If any of you live in the area and are down to meet up, we should take a course together!
