I always have to start the New Years with this picture.
Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.
Might I add:
The defeat of the wizard who made people choose how they’d be to be executed
The woman who raised the changeling alongside her biological child
The human who died of radiation poisoning after repairing the spaceship
The adventures of a space roomba
Cinderella finding Araura (and falling in love)
I don’t know a snappy description but the my nemesis cynthia story certainly lives in my head
hilariously, these are almost all in my fic tag. so, a compiled list from the notes (and some extras):
The God of Arepo (graphic novel 1 / 2 / 3) (ebook)
The Monster of Sentan
The Witch’s Cat
Raise Both Children
Stabby the Roomba (honorable mention)
Cinderella Marries the Prince (comic)
My Arch Nemesis Cynthia
Pirates and Mermaid
Eindred and the Witch
The Demon King
The Cornerwitch
Grandmother Beetroot
Apocalypse Daycare Worker
Grandmother Accidentally Summons a Demon
New Year Saga
A Story About Changelings
Ranger in the King’s Forest
The Difference Between a Hare and a Rabbit
Goblin Men (Canines)
I am in love with you /p

YOU GET THE FUCK BACK HERE AND EXPLAIN THAT RIGHT NOW

I love piracy but I'd also like to make sure you guys know that it's only piracy if you actually download it. It's technically legal to visit Watch Free Online type sites, it's just illegal for *them* to host those files and share them around without paying. They can't get you for just Watching free online. Use firefox and adblockers etc but it's not a crime. They also aren't going to get you for actually pirating shit more likely than not as long as you're not, like, running a whole fucking operation of it. It's so fine. Be free
People have gotten so skittish about not paying for things I feel like I'm feeding you oats out of the palm of my hand except the oats are free books movies tv shows etc. There there. Shhh it's ok it's literally fine
One of the things I resent most about being Animal Brain Apex Predator trapped in Maximum Productivity Society is that I have to work when the weather is gross, instead of following my natural instinct to burrow myself into something dry and soft and sleep until Optimal Foraging Conditions
It is dark and cold and wet and miserable and I have a warm dark quiet hideaway full of food and drinking water that is safe from interlopers and for some ungodly reason instead of holing up there to conserve my energy, I am standing up in a brightly lit beige room for several hours. A possum wouldn't put up with this shit. I'm going to bite someone
Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron & the Indian Boarding Schools/Residential Schools allegory
Holy shit!
Was this intentional?
Considering the rest of the film’s heavy anti-colonization messaging, the main antagonist being heavily modeled on & inspired by General Custer, the other main (human) protagonist being a Native man (& the fort is where Spirit meets Little Creek), yes, most likely
YES. It was 100% intentional. I highly recommend reading up on the making of this film. There was an incredible amount of care that went into the development.
They had Lakota consultants for the project, especially regarding the use of the Lakota language in the film (which is used sparsely, but when used is accurate).
It’s par for the course now to consult people belonging to a culture for projects representing it these days (i.e. Moana, Frozen 2, etc.) but it certainly wasn’t when Spirit came out in 2002.
This film is allegorical to its core.
I am half Scottish and half Japanese- I hand-sewed this kimono from men’s dress shirts and boxer shorts.
What did she do: THAT Who is she: THAT BITCH
Maya Caulfield recently completed a handmade kimono that celebrates her half Scottish and half Japanese ancestry in one eclectic garment. Created in a traditional kimono silhouette, the fabric is sourced from different types of plaid, from tartan to buffalo check. “I don’t usually make textile art,” Caulfield tells My Modern Met via email, “but I do make my own clothes on occasion and I always make sure that they are very personal to me and one of a kind—I don’t want to sew something that someone else would have in their closet.”

Wow, imagine the new antidepressants they'll create to address the immense toll on mental health this would have on people.
this is a really good point, actually

There's an up-and-coming Tech Giant, called Fenton Works, and Batman is determined to prove that the company is a front for a villain.
Danny, after his parents turned from Ghost hunting to being the first official Ghost Anthropologists, decided to repurpose some of their weapons.
And, well, there was a contest being run by Wayne Enterprises; whoever can design a robot that will help the environment got prize money and a grant.
Danny, in all his mechanical engineering prowess, was bored. So he designed a thing. Repurposed the Fenton Guns into a cute robotic tortoise that would clean the beach.
It spiraled from there, and now Fenton Works is the leading name in green technology that's cleaning up the Earth bit by bit. Sea Dragon robots that clean oil and trash from the ocean; beach tortoises that clean the sand and beach and deposit their hoard of trash into designated receptacles that Danny uses as material to make more robots; Cryptid "stalker" robots with long legs that delicately patrol forests to perform "fuel management" and clear out the underbrush to help manage wildfires; moving gargoyle robots that sit on top of skyscrapers to help clean the air with huge sail-like wings, etc.
Basically, Danny pulls a Doctor Elisabet Sobeck, but with less world ending and more actually helping. (Not that the world ending was Elisabet's fault, of course, but different franchise)
And due to the number of times aliens try to attack and rogues send their own robots to attack people, naturally Danny installed self-defense protocols, along with one single golden rule written into the very OS of every single robot; Save Humans Whatever the Cost.
Problem is, Batman has never seen robots like this not be used for evil purposes, and he knows that their power source (a closely guarded Fenton Works secret) is some sort of liquid that glows green.
He really only knows of one liquid that glows green.
So he's determined to find everything he can about Fenton Works, because there's no way that Daniel Fenton isn't actually a villain in the making.
Danny's just thrilled for the chance to work with Wayne Enterprises.
Other additions to this:
Red tornado wants to understand how to be more human. He goes to Fenton Greenworks and the ecto bonds with his tech. And he gets to be more humane.
Alternate theory: Aquaman's son is protected from Orm's coup as the boy has taken a liking to the Fentonworks mini squid or octopus that bonded with it. It surrounds the baby, and its exterior is deadly to anyone not friendly. The squid or octopus's main job was to signal sunken ships, aircrafts, and submarines from either leaking toxins into the water or notifying trapped people underwater.
Also, a canon disaster event: the Chemo attack on Bludhaven. Green fentonworks partner with the city to reduce the environmental effects to make it livable again. Since it was a whaling town, it gets a lot of sea based bots. Crabs or lobsters for overfishing. Maybe robins or other types of birds that have access to police lists and stay aboard boats to reduce air pollution by boats and manage trafficking.
Dick's Grayson's life crashed with the destruction of Bludhaven and gets to experience the "Light in Darkness" effect and is enamored by Danny Fenton "Puns and Quips are my love language" and is against Bruce's investigations. I wouldn't be surprised if Gotham is on the list of most requested bots for how many environmental and chemical attacks happen there.
Also, an au: if there are bots in the desert, then maybe the death of Robin! Jason can be prevented or saved.
Robot Jackals who's job is to monitor for human life signs and Protect and Guide them back to civilization.
The warehouse Jason was in had a few in crates, ready for transport and release further into the desert.
Instead, they were activated by Jason's cries of pain while in the crates.
Joker finds himself surrounded by a pack of seven Fentonworks Jackals. None of them like him.
All of them have tazers and tranqs due to the potential of running into criminals.
In other news, Jason gets himself packbonded with seven robot Jackals, and Bruce is so fucking conflicted about this.
On one hand, don't trust autonomous robots.
On the other hand, they saved Jason and also they tazed Joker seven times all at once, and revived him with another taze when his heart had given out.
(The Jackals hadn't wanted to, but technically the green-haired freak was a human so they couldn't let him die.)
these are very wise (and very real) words. believe me.
Really big addendum: "passion for a career" =/= "passion." Realizing you don't have a passion for a career might just mean that your passions lay in something that you can't make a career out of it. Realize that early and you can save yourself a lot of trouble, heartbreak, and existential dread.
This doesn’t mean you have to hate your job though. Sure, maybe it isn’t your favourite thing, but waking up in the morning and being resentful you have to go to work every day gets tiring.
My advice would be to work backwards: what can you not stand the thought of doing? — then narrow it down from there
I did this and ended up with a job a generally enjoy pretty well. Sure, my passion is the arts of physical labour(such as sewing, crochet, etc), but I don’t want to make a career out of that, so the next best thing was something I kinda like. And it worked out.
I hope whatever you end up doing with your life, you don’t hate it.
