Why I Adore MK1 Reptile (A Small Thread)

I really love and adore the fact that Reptile is having such a good life in this new timeline. For once, not 99% of his intros are people finding him repulsive, hideous, or gross...

He genuinely has a sweet and fun relationship with characters who absolutely DESPISED him in previous timelines. Clearly, being treated as an ACTUAL person really helped his psych in the long run. Some of the intro dialogues imply that some of the characters don't think Ashrah won't achieve her goal in the long run. Do you know who goes out of his way to prove that wrong? REPTILE.

He's living such a good life that he's no longer constantly groveling to people who treat him like garbage, but instead is actually helping and contributing to things in Outworld.

And the best thing about this? The intro dialogues imply that he graduates to a HIGHER status for his job.

Reptile was clearly blessed in this timeline to actually live a life he deserved, and I'm so thankful that it happened. From the very bottom of my heart...

Kuai Liang and Bi Han Headcanon:

I've been thinking about this for a WHILE and I just have to share it 😭

Bi-Han literally stopping Kuai Liang from wearing revealing clothing up until Kuai Liang leaves the Lin Kuei.

I just feel like Bi-Han had to CONSTANTLY tell his younger brother to cover up more. Kuai Liang just wants to show off his chest because he's just so proud of his muscles and he WANTS TO SHOW OFF. But Bi-Han is always stopping him like "Brother if you don't fucking go put on the rest of that damn outfit I swear to GOD" And they have argued so much over it too. Bi-Han telling him he doesn't want his little brother walking around dressed like a 💫slut💫 and Kuai Liang being angry because he's a grown ass man and he can't believe that his brother won't let him dress how he wants.

Kuai Liang: LORD LIU KANG HAS HIS CHEST EXPOSED!

Bi-Han: WELL LORD LIU KANG ISN'T MY YOUNGER BROTHER NOW IS HE? GO PUT ON THE REST OF THAT DAMN SHIRT!

And you know damn well they have physically fought over this several times. Bi-Han usually wins in the end and Kuai Liang would either have to change his clothes or he just couldn't come with Bi-Han and Tomas at all.

Then of course when Kuai Liang and Smoke leaves. Oh my god this man got his titties OUT. And Bi-Han is just even more livid when they are on the battlefield now because he's gotta see his younger brother dresses like:

bestie idk these names they're making up for these ships. to me the only real ship name that sticks that's not names is wolfstar. it's alicissa in my head, just like jegulus is always jegulus to me. marylily, dorlene, emmary, pandalily, etc etc.

occasionally, there are some ship names that have stuck that aren't the conjoined names, that are kinda established and fit because the names wouldn't quite work, like prongsfoot or starbucks for james/sirius, because...what would the ship name be? jirius? sames? blotter? plack? actually, you know what, jirius kinda sounds fun, so i could get behind that, but the point is, there are a few exceptions to the rule for me where the made up motif ship names actually work. most don't because i can't be bothered to keep up with all of them. so honestly, idk???

This is a common misconception because they’re such similar environments, but you should be aware that dads are native to Home Depot, while lesbians are actually native to Lowe’s. At this point, however, both dads and lesbians have made themselves at home in both Home Depot and Lowe’s to the point that trying to separate them back into their original ranges would probably do more harm than good to the delicate ecosystem of large chain hardware stores.

A properly raised and socialized Dad will be perfectly comfortable cohabiting with Lesbians. Its not really “encroaching on another’s territory”. You wouldn’t say that about foxes in a forest that also homes bobcats, would you? No. It’s just two different species that have both evolved to live in similar/the same environment. As long as they recognize each other as equals, Dads and Lesbians are more than capable of cohabitation.

Now, if you were to release a pack of Lumberjacks into a Lowes or Home Depot, that’s where chaos will reign. Being adapted to a far harsher and more demanding environment, the Lumberjacks would simply push Dads and Lesbians both out and also consume far more than a sustainable amount of resources. It would be like releasing bears at a country club.

As a former timber-harvester… I feel this is potentially accurate in theory. But highly improbable in actuality.

Lumberjacks, like most megafauna species generally require more space than the average hardware store, even a big box store could provide. The misconception is that Lumberjacks are a social species because of how they often work and live together.

This is a matter of necessity, not preference, and a survival technique for thriving under the LogBoss.

A “pack” of Lumberjacks, if not under the environmental pressure of a LogBoss will naturally disperse until they each have a wide territory.

Lumberjacks rarely fight for territory.

One on one, a Lumberjack could drive out a Dad or Lesbian, however the latter tend to travel in social packs.

Lumberjacks will passively retreat on the presence of large numbers of people. Kind of like Sasquatch.

Getting a “pack” of Lumberjacks assembled would be hard enough unless they were forced into a Hardware Store by a LogBoss. In that case, they would already be in a heightened and potentially agitated state far above their natural behavior. This artificial scenario can be likened to a circus animal running amok. If it had been in the wild, the incident would not have occurred.

Free-roaming Lumberjacks are the cryptids of the Hardware ecosystem. They are surprisingly quiet and unobtrusive.

Please stop labeling Lumberjacks as dangerous roving social predators. They are intermediate level omnivores and remarkably peaceful unless threatened.

Most of the above are native to craft and hobby stores (art students, historically, are native to museums, but having been introduced to hobby stores, have found a niche for themselves and thrived), but all can be seen in hardware stores on occasion due to territorial overlap. They are generally low-impact, as they tend to stick to specific small areas and primarily utilize different resources. While a large group of any of them can be disruptive (art students, in particular, are known to travel in packs), in general, they are more likely to have territorial disputes with one another than with the local fauna. 

A point of clarity -“crafter” is a bit misleading; while it conjures a specific image, much like ‘fish’ or ‘reptile’ it actually covers a broad array of wildly disparate species, and in general, more descriptive nomenclature is preferred. Fiber artists in particular are a genus to watch out for, particularly in groups. Beware a roving pack of domesticated quilters. They fear nothing, will go anywhere, and due to their social nature, will often seek interaction from other species that thrive best in solitude. They are quite friendly, and will happily adopt members of other species; the concern is that their adoptees do not always wish to be adopted.

I can say as a former craft store worker that if you wish to see true fear, look into the eyes of a Dad who must venture into a craft store. Despite the overlap of familiar beings known to him from his native hardware store habitat, Dads are instinctively aware that craft stores are not for them; they contain unfamiliar perils and even the seemingly familiar may have strange variances and unnerving secrets. (”Why is this airbrush so small? What do you mean nails, why would you… WUT!!”)

Only experienced silverbacks or the boldest young Dads dare venture into a craft store for long without his mate or offspring to keep roving Craft Ladies at bay and guide him in this strange ecosystem. If a Dad enters with his mate and is separated from her, he will often scuttle for the seeming familiarity of Woodcrafts, Models, or Paints (the latter not to be confused with Fine Arts, unquestioned territory of art students), but he eyes Scrapbooking and Jewelry with trepidation and will usually venture into those exotic areas only in the company of females of his pack.

Lumberjacks are rarely spotted entering craft stores of their own volition, for while they do not fear it as Dads do, they know it is an environment unsuited for megafauna such as themselves.

Hardware store Lesbians generally adapt more easily to craft stores, although they may enlist another Lesbian of a subspecies more adapted to that environment to guide them until they find their niche. Lesbians have even been known to seek the aid of a Craft Lady, a native fauna that share similarities with Lesbians but are usually smaller and nimbler to suit their chosen habitat. Dads who witness this are often awed by the Lesbians’ temerity, for although larger, Dads are generally wary of the cunning and dexterous Craft Ladies and may mistake their enthusiastic pack greetings as predatory swarming.

Craft Ladies, secure in their ecological niche, have no fear of interlopers and take the presence of non-native beings in stride, although they may become territorial about scarcer resources.

The only truly invasive species that threaten craft stores are Brides-to-Be, who are mere annoyances individually, but like locusts may descend in hordes and lay waste, leaving swathes of destruction in their wake. Fortunately for the Craft Ladies, Brides-to-Be are seasonal and usually only a threat in the spring and early summer.

It Got Better

I’ll write up a detailed review of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” later but for now, I’ll say that the thing I loved the most about this movie was that it felt like a legitimate continuation of all three live-action Spider-Man movie franchises, rather than just two hours of cheap fan service. Yes, there was fan service, but the writing treated the meeting of the three Spider-Mans as a serious event, as if it were an Avengers-type movie. 

You can see this in all the narrative choices that were made. For example:

1)  Tom’s Peter is the one who is a natural leader and team-player since he was on the Avengers and he’s the Spider-Man who isn’t a loner. Remember, Tom’s Peter was on the academic decathlon whereas Tobey’s Peter only had one real friend (Harry) and Andrew’s Peter mainly kept to himself. 

2) Tobey’s Peter is the one to stop Tom’s Peter from killing Green Goblin. Remember, Tobey’s Peter is the one who knows what it’s like to be consumed with vengeance, figuratively and literally with the Venom symbiote. He’s the only Peter who caught the carjacker and he got a second chance at vengeance when he went after Sandman, even managing to “kill” Flint Marko (the “good riddance” scene).

3) Aside from the obvious Gwen Stacy-Michelle Jones parallel, Andrew’s Peter is the one who sees Tobey and Tom as his brothers. Remember, Andrew’s Peter was the one who felt like he was missing his real family since his parents were MIA. So, Andrew’s Peter using the word “brothers” had to have been deliberate, especially since he says that he’s always wanted brothers.

Obviously, Post+ is a terrible idea that is trying to bank revenue on user content. Unlike patreon or onlyfans, tumblr’s primary focus is on FAN content. The legality of this is NOT in the users favor and as the new tumblr TOS states, said users will be entirely liable for whatever legal matters arise.

SO WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Peggysous Rec List Part III

This takes us from post-S2 all the way to the earliest fics in the tag. I will say, there is a pretty marked difference between the S1 and S2 fic—not in a bad way, just that in going through the tag, I find S1 fics tend to be…coyer, very sweet, and very cute while being bittersweet, and S2 is very…sensual. Words like ‘sparks’ and ‘fire’ and ‘tension’ definitely come to mind when thinking of S2 fics.

Either way, that is enough ramble. Here are some of my faves from the last leg of the foray through the PS AO3 tag. 

A beautiful thing to behold by irisdouglasiana. Sweet pre-S1, pre-relationship fic. To borrow original summary: “Peggy and Daniel lead separate lives in New York. Sometimes, they intersect.“

Letting Her In by Nyx. A vulnerable and honest hurt/comfort. Talks of disability and period.

I Know How to Love You (And I Wanna Love You Some More), 2-part series by charleybradburies. First one is emotional hurt/comfort, second one is smut. Featuring talks of grief and disability—and that is a very prominent theme in S1 fics. I quite like the discussion in this one :)

After the Lovin’ by charleybradburies. Follow-up fic to the series above, but can be read on its own. They tried to hide their relationship; they really did. Featuring some top notch S1 bullpen banter. (If I miss anything from S1, it’s definitely that vibe.)

Drink It In by bookishandbossy. 4+1, “Four times Peggy and Daniel don’t get to finish their drinks, and one time they do.” Fluff, getting together.

Changing My Tune by indigowild. S1. Pre-relationship fluff. Night shift office fic.

We’ll Take Turns to Untangle the Knots by dreamboatqueen. Fluffy proposal fic. I will admit I’m mostly here for the sweater vest headcanon though.

The Right Thing by Lady_Nerd52. This is pre-relationship and background. Tag scene to Peggy’s interrogation in AC S1E06. Excellent character study fic of Peggy.

Trust by ardentaislinn. Mid-S1, pre-relationship. If Peggy has sought for help with Howard’s case. This is another premise common in mid-S1 fics. Cute pre-relationship feels.

If Your Heart is Torn, I Don’t Wonder Why by indigowild. Post-case hospital fic, “Daniel soothes Peggy with a lullaby.” Such a good, fluffy hurt/comfort. If you wished there was more h/c after the rebar accident in S2, or like AOS 7x08/7x09 vibes but make it Peggysous, you will like this.

Snow Daisies, 2-part series by Yalu. First one fluff and angst, second one smut. Some very raw, realistic, and vulnerable discussions about insecurities, grief, and disability. Some of the lines really smacked me in the face. Very powerful fic.

Drabble #4–The Woman She Was by indigowild. Pre-relationship. Peggy’s introspection; kind of character study of Sousa from Peggy’s perspective.

Curiosity by truth_renowned. PWP. Bondage. Honestly I’m reccing just cos it’s hot.

(Honorary mention: I know this is a Peggysous rec list, but Curiosity really reminded me of A Lesson in Patience by myracingthoughts, which is a Dousy bondage fic. Just admit it yall love to tie Daniel Sousa up-)

And last but not least:

I Was Hiding Under Your Desk Because… by seriousfic. Smut. Locked to AO3 users. I’m mostly reccing this because according to the publishing date, this is posted within TWO DAYS of the show’s premiere, and the earliest fic in the tag. (There are actually two more fics dated earlier in the tag, but those come long before the show’s premiere, so I can only assume the tags are retroactively added.) A smut fic of a barely existent ship two days after the show’s premiere. If this fic has taught me anything, it is that fanfiction should never be underestimated.
