PETA
you guys remember when PETA stole people pets off their porches and euthanized them?
you guys remember how it came out that PETA kills about 90% of the animals it takes in, including healthy and adoptable puppies and kittens, stating “ We could become a no-kill shelter immediately. It means we wouldn’t do as much work”?
you guys remember when PETA advocated killing all pit bulls for the crime of being pit bulls?
you guys remember when PETA handed out these comics to children when there were no adults looking?
you guys remember when they made a porn site and then filled it with videos of animal abuse, and (also in that link) claimed cats should be vegetarian?
you guys remember when PETA lied about sheep shearing, got caught, and defended the lie as true even after they admitted the sheep in their picture wasn’t even real?
you guys remember when they tried to excuse their horrifying ways by claiming that the person who exposed them was manipulating the facts by taking them and putting them in the wrong context?
Because I remember. I remember everything.
And I’m gonna make sure everyone else remembers too.
Why would they kill pit bulls they’re sweeties
Because PETA does not care about animals. they do not care that these dogs live and breathe and feel and want love like every other dog. they do not care about the history of human/dog bonding and co-evolution, they do not care that dogs and human beings have relied on each other for millennia, they do not care that its cruel and morally repugnant to put down an animal just because you can, they do not care about animals.
PETA cares about money and publicity, its a corporation run by a psychopath who is afraid of pitts as it states in the link: she was apparently bit by one, and now she hates them.
PETA doesn’t give a rats ass about animals. They just want to kill and make money off of idiots who fall of their spiel.
Some celebs support them
ah c’mon, dear-tumb1r, I think you’re being a bit harsh. I mean, okay, PETA’s done some questionable things, but it’s not like they’ve also
-spread false information about milk causing autism based on outdated bullshit information
-used holocaust imagery to compare the meat industry to concentration camps (no pictures)
-used a young man’s brutal death as a way to say “yeah that’s awful but it happens to animals every day and nobody cares about that” (tw: no pictures but the way the guy died is described and it is really horrible)
-dressed up in KKK robes and protested outside of the Westminister Dog Show to protest breeding/pure bred dogs (tw: racism)
-offered to pay the water bill for literally the poorest neighborhood in Detroit if and only if they all went vegan for a month (tw: self-righteous shitheads)
-and they definitely didn’t have two of their workers accept perfectly healthy animals from an animal hospital, with the implication that they would give them good homes, clarify that these animals were all healthy and well-tempered, and then euthanized them all in the back of a kill-van before dumping their dead bodies behind a grocery store (tw: PICTURES OF DEAD ANIMALS, animal death)
-and they totally didn’t get off pretty much scot-free for it because PETA has loads of money and lawyers to defend themselves, which coincidentally might be why the Cerate family hasn’t seen justice for their kidnapped and murdered dog, Maya. (tw: animal death)
Nah. PETA’s not that bad.
(/the heaviest of all my fucking sarcasm, I am salty as a fucking winter road, lord do I fucking hate PETA)
Did you think i was fucking joking, PETA?
I will make sure everyone fucking remembers what you’ve done.
Bringing it back, because it’s charity season and people need to know NOT to give charity to these fuckers.

Ugh, I’ve waited all year for this!
lately I've been having writer's block and the biggest cause of it is I've been having this feeling of "original thought is dead and anything I write has been done before so I shouldn't even try." it's hard to get myself out of this stump. am I the only one who goes through this? any advice?

Good advice.
Everything’s been done but we haven’t seen *your* take on it silly!
Silencing of Trans Men
A friend and I were having a long conversation today about how trans guys are pretty much not allowed to talk about our experiences in any forum, and how that’s especially hard because we already suffer from a problem of having minimal visibility.
Trans men who can pass tend to fly under the radar as much as possible, because it makes life a lot easier. Trans men are also less appealing to the gross fetishistic sensationalist media than trans women, so we get less (good AND bad) representation.
But another element of it is definitely that trans men, by and large, are socialized as women. Society treats us the way they treat cis women at least until (and sometimes long after) we come out (IF we come out). We’re taught literally from birth, just like cis girls, that the appropriate reaction to conflict is to retreat, to hide, to avoid. Just like it does for cis women, society tells us to keep our mouths shut.
And as a result… that’s what a lot of us do.
So when trans men remain invisible on purpose, that’s often a direct reaction to being taught that being invisible is safer, that hiding is safer, that retreating is safer.
Because on most levels it is.
We’re told to keep our mouths shut, and since we’re told that for our entire childhoods, we internalize it. So we keep our mouths shut. We learn to perceive our voices as less important, and less valid. So whenever we speak up, it’s perceived as speaking OVER all the cis men around us, because we’re perceived as girls, and that’s how society perceives girls.
Now enter the culture of online intersectional social justice forums and discourse. We want to contribute, to talk about our experiences, and to commiserate with other people who’ve experienced similar oppression. It’s hard to talk about this stuff sometimes, especially after being conditioned to think that any talking is too much talking.
So we’re here, we’re queer, we’re ready to contribute, and… we’re told to keep our mouths shut.
I’ve seen a lot of discourse about how safe spaces for women should include ONLY women, which is mostly valid. Without even touching on the openings this leaves for TERF ideology, it still gets complicated when you start recognizing that not all trans men ever come out or are visible or present as masculine, and that nonbinary people exist, and that anyone who is dfab and femme is targeted similarly regardless of their actual gender, but still. Woman only spaces have a place and a purpose. The need for them has been stated by the people who need them and I understand and respect that, as should everyone else.
But I’ve seen a lot of it extend to either stating or implying that trans men have no place in conversations about the ramifications of sexism, on the basis that contributing to the conversation equates to speaking over people. Specifically with the implication that we’re speaking over people who have had more VALID experiences of misogyny solely because they are women, regardless of whether the people perpetrating misogyny on trans men knew, believed, or cared that we were men.
And that doesn’t make sense.
Yes, we’re not women, but we sure as shit suffered at the hands of men who thought we were, and society who raised us as though we were. That wasn’t accidental, and it doesn’t go away as soon as we transition (IF we transition). It’s not like cis gay drag queens being subjected to transphobia. We didn’t choose to be assigned female at birth, we couldn’t opt out of it, and it wasn’t accidental. We suffer in many/most/in some cases ALL of the ways that cis women do as kids and teens, and that is completely intentional because society doesn’t care that we’re men. Society only cares about the anatomy we were born with.
The message we get is that conversations about misogyny are irrelevant to us, when the reality is that they are deeply relevant to us because they affect us deeply.
I’ve seen so many times the statement or implication that trans men need to keep our mouths shut about women’s experiences.
And I get it, conceptually, but when I’ve seen it it’s usually attached to the sentiment that our experiences are irrelevant to the overarching subject of feminism, and also lacks any alternative platform for us to talk on. Because we’re also told to keep our mouths shut, of course, about male experiences by cis men (of course). So we can’t talk about what it’s like to be guys, and we can’t talk about what it’s like to be treated like girls.
So…. we can’t talk.
And all the trans men I know respond to this overarching silencing message by thinking “Oh, well, okay I guess. I mean, I don’t want to speak over anyone.”

Shit No One Told Me About My Period
I knew the basics before I got it, but I had no clue…
* The blood wouldn’t necessarily be red. When I first got my period, I spent a few min looking at my underwear wondering how I shit myself. I didn’t know the blood could look brown, or be thick.
* That tampons weren’t a good idea yet. I was 10 or 11 when I got my first period and physically smaller than an adult woman. My first attempt at inserting a tampon was very painful and unsuccessful. I wouldn’t use them until I was around 14 or so.
* That when you use pads the blood can get on your bottom and I’d have to occasionally clean off the toilet seat after using it.
* That getting your first period DOES NOT mean you’re fully developed and fully able to bear children. I could have technically gotten pregnant at that age, but I was still a child and pregnancy would have put my life in danger because I was still physically immature.
* That it wouldn’t be regular for another few years.
* That very painful cramping is NOT NORMAL once you reach your 20s and is cause for concern.
* That the blood and tissue you pass can look chunky or stringy and not like blood from a cut.
* That stress can halt your period for months BUT
* That doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant
Feel free to add your own
Relatable
-passing blood clots is completely normal
-that your period may straight up skip a month when you first get it
-and then it’ll happen twice in the same month
-getting your period does NOT automatically make you a woman
Painful cramping isn’t normal in your 20’s? That’s a little concerning, mine have been getting exponentially worse
It is NOT normal.
I can 100% guarantee you have endometriosis, PCOS, or another hormone problem. If your doctor says it’s normal, DEMAND a second opinion.
Thinking that it’s normal is how people end up infertile or dead. It’s why so many women under 40 these days are having an almost impossible time either conceiving or preventing conception. Because no one teaches anyone that it’s the sign of trouble that can very seriously hurt you.
Anyone who has severe cramps, heavy bleeding, or irregular periods after about 19 years old should seek medical advice. None of those are normal.
If you have skin tags, a hard time losing weight, migraines related to your period, depression that is amplified when menstruating, severe mood swings, sleep disturbances that get worse with menstruation, or any other significant health problem that started with puberty and is worse when hormones are fluctuating you need to be checked.
None of the things that people relate to women on their periods is actually an example of a healthy woman. It’s an example of people who need one form of treatment or another.
- Women aren’t the only ones that have it.
How to explain to people that the only reason I’m “high functioning” is because I was conditioned from a young age to hide my autistic traits

youtube Swordman standing up to gender roles
while you were living under gender roles, i studied the blade
Men are on average more muscular than women and can wield heavier weapons more easily, so it’s a practical advantage for the woman to prefer the rapier and the man to prefer the longsword. Gender roles? I’d rather win than try to “rebel for rebellion’s sake” and lose.
surprise both swords were used in totally different time periods for totally different purposes and this is a joke post no one cares
Not to mention long sword vs. rapier. The rapier has more speed and precision then the long sword. The long sword is crazy heavy for a hand held weapon and would quickly die.
Several Of The Above Points Are Shit-Wrong And I’m Going To Tell You Why: A Point By Point Dissection By Me
Point 1: “Both swords were used in totally different time periods for totally different purposes.”
Partially right. A rapier is indeed suited to a different fighting style than a longsword. The slender, blade with a highly developed tip makes the rapier an amazing thrusting weapon, designed to pierce through the holes in chainmail or the seams between plates. They can be used to cut, but their primary focus is to thrust. A longsword, however, has a much thicker and heavier blade as well as a longer hilt that gives it the ability to be wielded in one OR two hands (it’s often referred to as a ‘hand-and-a-half’ sword because of this) enabling it the leverage and strength to cut (or bash, but that’s far less ideal as it could damage the blade) far more easily.
Rapier:
Longsword:
HOWEVER, there was at the very least a large period of overlap in the uses of longswords and rapiers. The difference in their utility (besides cutting vs thrusting, the longsword was largely a military weapon and the rapier was largely a civilian weapon and for dueling) saw to it that they could coexist. The longsword as we know it has been found to date back at least to the 14th century, if not earlier and was used in sporting duels and tournaments up until the 16th if not the 17th century (though its military use ended long before its sport use did). The rapier was first created (or at least first recognized by scholars as being created) around 1500 in Spain. Even if we take only the centuries during which they saw the most use (longsword = 14th-16th cent. and rapier = 16th-17th cent.) there was still a whole century of overlap.

Point 2: Rapiers are lighter than Longswords (and also the point that longswords are “crazy heavy for a hand-held weapon”).
This is wrong. Rapiers are, on average, around 2-ish lbs (1kg). Longswords are also, on average, around 2-ish lbs (1kg). This is for your STANDARD LONGSWORD, a hand-and-a-half sword that can comfortably be wielded in either one or two hands. Of course, both can reach higher or lower weights, but the top of the weight range for them tends to be around 4 lbs. The heavy fuckers you’re probably referring to are true 2-handed swords, such as the montante or the zweihander. Even then, they don’t get too much above 7 or 8 lbs. You know what weighs around 7 or 8 lbs usually? Most newborn babies.
(in order top to bottom: a 1-handed sword, a longsword, a montante)
For reference, other hand-held weapons? Shotguns run between 5 and 8 or more lbs. An M60 machine gun? Around 23 lbs. Handguns are between 2-4 lbs.
So yes, a longsword is heavy…when you’re comparing it to, like, a knife or to not wielding anything.

Point 3: Larger weapons are slower.
No
they
REALLY
aren’t.
That’s a video-game-ism so that 1) you don’t feel like shit when you get wrecked by an opponent wielding a fuck-off huge sword and 2) they don’t have to program in proper form, technique, and handling of said sword.
Point 4: “Women can’t wield longswords.”
Really now?
(Have some more videos because tumblr won’t let me embed any more.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nzpvVuSwc0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bE4v6e6iss
Thank you. Longswords just aren’t that heavy. They really are not. A good one balances in the hand and feels almost effortless to hold. They are a real pleasure to handle and I think everyone should get the chance to do so at least once just to understand what I mean. Shitty wallhangers are fuckoff heavy, but that’s because they are made from crappy materials, are not properly shaped/tapered, are too thick, are poorly balanced so they feel even heavier than they are, and were never actually intended to be *used*.
Now, within the modern field of western martial arts women are often pushed towards rapier and subtly discouraged from longsword. The weight and strength issue is raised, and there is concern from their male opponents about women getting hurt–rapier thrusts tend to land softer because the blade flexes, while longsword cuts tend to leave more bruising and risk more damage, especially in organizations that have very different rules for rapier and longsword.
But as a woman who was pushed into rapier and smallsword for a decade before discovering that longsword was her true passion, I am glad to see people disputing this gender divide.
A whole slew of excellent points here 🏳️🌈😊⚔💋
