I saw your post about being pro life and how some people tell women to “keep their legs closed.”

I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am to see it. I do consider myself to be pro choice, but I have very rarely seen the sensible arguments that you brought up being used by people on both sides. How it’s not all the woman’s responsibility and that there are many outside factors that are considered such as poverty.

Thank you for giving me hope that we can have meaningful discussions despite differing viewpoints and that we can understand that often the basis of huge issues is the same— in this case how women are often treated or not provide provided with resource resources that they need to be healthy and happy.

You're welcome. Iirc, I made that post after discussing with pro choice people why they're pro choice and a 'pro life' person hopped on and started arguing that women should just keep their legs closed and then they were angry with me when I argued against them.

Abortion has always been about human rights. Whether it is about the liberty and dignity of the mother or the life of the unborn, it always comes down to human rights. So I try to have sensible conversation about it whenever possible, seeing as many people (rightly) have strong emotions about it either way.

Would the abortion debate be far less important if people stopped having sex if they didn't want to have a baby? Absolutely. Are people going to stop having sex? No. So why bother with that argument?
