We coloured eachother's sketches!

The first one is Bibi's sketch (I adore it btw I was literally giggling and kicking my feet in the air) and I coloured it while the second is my sketch and she coloured it! (In a magnificent way might I add, those colours are BEAUTIFUL)

I cannot express how fun these were to make! Thank you Bibi for the amazing collab 🙂‍↕️🩷

As a huge fan of the Medardas, I enjoy spending my time looking for clues on their culture. One point I'd like to talk about is their hair. We haven't seen the rest of the Medarda family, but based on Ambessa and Mel, I think we can glean alot.

Think back with me to Ambessa's first appearance. Her hair is shorter, but out in all its natural glory. In contrast, Mel's hair is twisted/braided and adorned in gold for much of the show, and we only ever see the length of her hair untamed when she is in bed. Even when she is alone and at her leisure, her hair is twisted. No matter, Ambessa and Mel seem to oppose one another, even in the way they wear their hair.

This is interesting for two reasons. First, as a soldier, long hair can act as a hindrance in battle, so many keep their hair short. Second, in the trailer, we see Ambessa's hair in braids. She is dressed for war in her mask of gold and her hair is braided. And it leaves you to wonder, is it a Medarda custom to braid their hair when at war? To wear gold to war where all of Noxus wears red and black and silver?

If so, this is interesting to consider. Keeping in mind how Mel always keeps her hair twisted/braided, does Mel consider Piltover to be her battleground among the nobles? As we've never seen her take her hair down except when she is with Jayce, is this simply a nightly thing, or does it show she trusts him? Is it a look into her psyche? Perhaps a sign of vulnerability?

Ambessa, untamed, hair out and free. Mel, hair perfectly and precisely done, at all hours nothing less than pristine. I think this speaks a lot about their characters and how they interact with the world.

Why make fanart about a 14-year-old series (since its sad and bitter conclusion)?

Because I felt like it.

No, seriously, BBC's Merlin was one of my favorite shows as a teenager and one of the first where I heavily shipped the main characters (maybe even one of my first gay ships… I was 13, understand me! Merthur always in my heart… and I think I had a mini-crush on Morgana… although I realized it sooooo much later…)

Anyway, as a professional shipper and a fan fiction lover, I'll offer you a couple of advice for some of the Merlin fan fiction on AO3 that I enjoyed the most!
