When the lamp was first made, people said the lights will shine so bright, we won't see the stars. They lit up everything, from homes to work places and streets. The light took over everything. It wasn't that we can't see the stars now, it's that we forgot they still existed. We lit up homes to stay up late without going outside. We lit up our offices so that we can work 16 hour days and never see our families. We lit up the streets and started driving as fast as we can, forgetting to look out the window and see the journey. The stars weren't there to be our light source; the stars were there to have us slow down, breathe, look up and clear our minds. Look at the stars, even if it's only to breathe. This time was special, I think. There were so many new talents at our doors, so many different people in front of the mic. I keep getting surprised every time that there are still poets I am yet to see, that they're there, in the fold of Egypt, hiding, waiting. I hope they all get to know that there is something like The Word Project that would love to host them.
