Katia is just because I think it works with her desire to have a kid. She's AMAB, so (as far as I am aware) she couldn't have the ability to get pregnant.

Well for one, the dungeon can alter people's bodies into entire different creatures. They can be liquidfied and suddenly be sapient. It can turn a 99 year old woman into an ice fairy and get rid of dementia. It can fuse two people and turn a normal goat into a fucking demon. Is it so hard to believe that it couldn't change something as simple as sex at birth? Also, who says that goddess is transphobic? She might be an ally, you don't know!

I also think it's neat because I imagine Carl finally taking a small moment to complain to Katia that he didn't get his top surgery before the crawl- like yeah he can do that without Katia being trans too but the queer comradery between them would be top tier.

I just finished book five of Dungeon Crawler Carl, and I've seen some people (on instagram lmao) mischaracterizing Carl, sort of joking that he blows stuff up without hesitation and without thinking through it

But, Carl is so chronically an over-thinker? He had four (or more!) backup plans at the end of the Butchers Masquerade, and was actively mixing and matching elements of them to fit the changing scenario. The only times I can recall him acting without thinking through it is when he's defending, not attacking.

Hell, he even fine tunes each of his bombs to be meticulously right for any given scenario. He thinks through each possible path he can imagine. He optimizes *everything*.

sometimes there are lines in the dungeon crawler carl book series that hit me like, “how can we make it to heaven if god doesn’t recognize us?” from a person who’s been transformed both physically and mentally by the dungeon or “sometimes parents can cast a shadow so thick, you can drown in it,” from a character who recognizes he was a shitty father to his fucking kid who died and it lands like a sucker punch

and then you remember there’s also a talking cat eating cherries from dirty Shirleys while a guy has to run around in boxers bc the AI thinks it’s funny. whiplash, dude lol

I'm reading a study on how nurses define the term 'drug seeking', and what makes them more likely to put the 'drug-seeker' label on a patient's charts and. well. let me just throw down some quotes

"Needy, unable to cope" (<- you try coping with chronic pain)

"Comfort seeking" (<- you mean.. having a preference for not being in pain.. how criminal)

"Using or trying to obtain drugs on a long-term, chronic base" (<- do you understand what 'chronic pain' means.)

"Asking for pain med then returning to sleep."

"States he’s level 10 pain, but does not appear to be in pain (or ‘5= on appearance)." (<- it is well-known that chronic pain patients tend not to display pain in the same way as acute pain patients)

"Dramatic response to pain" (<- notice how this directly contradicts the comment above. you cannot win)

"Gets IV med, then leaves unit to smoke or walk around" (<- wow requiring medication and then going off to do something you needed pain meds to be able to do is so suspicious)

the article itself put it best when it says: “some comments depict patients trying to apply sound pain management principles, such as continuing to take medication for persistent pain”. no wonder all the other literature on the matter says that women of colour are the most likely group to be labelled drug-seeking. this shit is entirely vibes-based (read: based on the prejudices of nurses and doctors)
