not to sound like a repetitive asshole here but honest to GOD cishet girls/women are some of the most toxic ass people in fandom spaces i have ever, EVER seen.

whether it’s 17 year old girls fetishizing their precious sin babies and wishing they had a korean boyfriend because of exo and bts, or 27 year old women with steven universe icons pretending to be “fandom moms” creating excuses for children to be shipped adults, opening up gateways for pedophiles to groom these baby 13-14 year olds under the guise that “in (x) show (character) and (character) have a 10 year gap its no big deal!”.

cishet girls will constantly either infantilize gay/trans men or hypersexualize them. they only care about bisexual men when they’re in a relationship with another man, and when said bisexual man is in a relationship with a woman they get so fucking nasty it’s appalling. cishet white girls feminize asian boys for the sake of their yaoi and turn black and latino men into these beasts for their fetish fiction.

and then they have the absolute NERVE to dismiss criticisms of themselves under the guise of misogyny, as if there aren’t wlw in fandom spaces that know not to pull this shit, as if there aren’t trans women and woc in fandom spaces that know. not. to. pull. this. shit.

i understand why when you hear “cishet” you immediately think of a cishet man. but it’s time we start being unapologetically critical of cishet girls in fandom spaces as well.

do not write it like it’s something that’s ‘tragically beautiful’ it isn’t. self harm isn’t poetic. it’s horrible.

self harm scars are not beautiful, but having them does not make you less beautiful. you get me? do not make self harm scars sound pretty.

do not write it as something that the person can magically stop because they have a romantic partner. that’s not how mental illness works

People should write about mental illness or anything really but don’t half ass it. You want to write about mental illness you take it all. Not just the quirks you think are cute. Take the bad, and the ugly.

Characters with mental illness are more than deserving to have loves and romances but it’s not a cure all. It won’t be perfect.

Do it right or don’t do it at all.
