I had been hit over the heart by a burst of some 20 incendiary bullets and though they had set fire to my shirt and caused a huge haematoma not one of them had pierced my skin.
Twenty five years on I still have no idea why not one of the 20 or so incendiary bullets, fired from only 70 m, had cut my skin. All I can think is that I was somehow protected by forces beyond anything I understand, for which I am grateful.
so either this man is an immortal bulletproof war hero, or, it might be that his recollections should be taken with a grain of salt
on the tumor case itself: like the image says, it wasn't "a single auditory hallucination" nor did it tell her "the exact location." a single message using precise medical language she couldn't have known otherwise does sound a lot more dramatic and unexplainable than what actually happened, which is that a person who'd been hearing voices for weeks eventually arrived at "brain tumor" (a well-known cause of hallucinations) as a cause for her hallucinations.
the language was also pretty vague. "she had a tumour in her brain and her brain stem was inflamed." I'm no neurosurgeon but that doesn't scream "exact location" to me, and I feel like a layperson could very well have come up with that themselves. the CT scans eventually showed a "left posterior frontal parafalcine mass, which extended through the falx to the right side," would be a lot more impressive if the voices had said something like that lol
this bit isn't in the image but in the next page Dr. Azuonye lays out 3 different explanations, which he heard after presenting the case at a conference. group 1 says "finally, proof that telepathy is real," group 2 says "she was faking it to get free care" (he points out this makes no sense, as the woman had been in the UK for years and was already entitled to it). group 3's theory is that she "may have unconsciously taken in more information about various hospitals than she realised, and this information was reproduced by her mind as part of the auditory hallucinatory experience," which seems like the most reasonable one. so there's a good case for skepticism here over how 'inexplicable' the incident really is, even if we take Dr. Azuonye's recollections of it at face value, and I'm not sure we should be doing that in the first place
