I have no idea what you’re going through. I have no idea what you’re feeling. I have no idea what battle you’re trudging through, who said what that broke your heart, or what you just don’t think that you can overcome. However, I do know this. Whatever “this” feeling is, you can get through it. What you feel isn’t who you are. You might feel alone... discouraged... overwhelmed... burnt out... done... stretched... empty... sad... and/or insignificant. I don’t know what exactly you’re feeling, but I do know that what you’re feeling isn’t who you are. I repeat, what you’re feeling is NOT who you are. We tend to think that what we feel determines who we are. The truth is... that’s not the truth. It’s OK to feel the way that you do, but you’ve got to know about obstacles. You’ve got to know that you weren’t made to stay that way. You are significant. Unfortunately, this scenario is all too common. When you tell yourself you can’t do something, you’ll generally believe it and live by it. Suppose you constantly told yourself “I can’t get any work done around here because the walls are too bright.” That may sound silly, yet when it’s repeated often enough you’ll become absolutely convinced that the walls are preventing you from getting your work done. The fact is... when you tell yourself you can’t, you won’t, no matter how flimsy the excuse may be. The same dynamic also can work in a positive way. 😊 When you tell yourself often enough that you can, you will. Think of all the things you’ve avoided doing because you told yourself you couldn’t do them. Researchers have found that once people get into the loop of being kind, it is followed by a feeling of happiness, and they are more likely to do lots of other acts. It is a win-win situation. Psychologists call this the ‘helper’s high’. 💕🤗 The exact biological process which links positive emotions to physical and mental well being is not fully understood yet. But the results are there for all to see! So, if you want to feel happier, try some of these 20 ways of being kind. The more variety, the better! 1. Smile and make someone's day a little sweeter. 2. Look for ways you can promote peace. 3. Just listen. 4. Offer a hug or embrace. 5. Invite someone new into your friend tribe. 6. Send out a kind email or card. 7. Give someone a genuine compliment. 8. Without being asked, help someone out in a practical way. 9. Hold open the door for the person behind you. 10. Encourage a friend or family member when they are uncertain or unmotivated. 11. Make peace with someone that has hurt you. 12. Strike up a conversation with a stranger. 13. Life can be overwhelming. 🤯 Most days are filled with to-do list, errands, work, and other not so fun activities. I find that it is easy to get stuck in a rut when I do the same things over and over. We fall into a routine and can feel stuck. I worry that if I do not complete my to-do list I will get behind. It might be time to make a change... Scrolling through my news feed one day, I saw a photo that had the word Fika on it. Fika is a Swedish word that means, "making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee (or tea) and a little something to eat." ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I loved this idea! Letter to self... 💌 ⬇️ Dear me, To start off with, I am so proud of you. 💕 Life hasn’t been too easy on you lately, and I am truly sorry about that. But despite it all, you have managed to keep your head up and continue fighting throughout. Be proud of everything you have gone through, and mostly, what you’ve become. Stop being so hard on yourself. Everything will make sense to you one day. All the pain, hurt, and frustration will become worth it. Remember, everything happens for a particular reason. You are in the exact place you are meant to be right now. So breathe, be patient, and trust the course of your life. Let go of all the expectations you have created in your head. Accept reality as it comes. Accept life for what it is. You are perfect in every way, flaws and all. Accept the things that make you different, while embracing everything that makes you unique. You may think you are broken, but there is so much beauty in your pain. Also, you’re really not as broken as you think you are. You are stronger than anything that has tried to tear you down. You have come this far already. Don't forget that. You are a survivor, not a victim. So with that, try not to be so hard on yourself, we both know you’re doing the best you can.
