Hands shaking violently you shove them into your armpits as you stumble into another snow drift, the white powder easily sinking you to your knees as the wind whips at your hair.

You curse not heeding the warnings of the locals, the man in the green frock and the stranger standing behind him, ears too pointed to be human. You should have been used to the sight of pigmen by now, but something was strange about the latter, something uneasy about him.

It’s what drove you to find the Inn, a large converted mansion lost in the snow and woods. 

The strangers had been kind enough to give you directions, but even with their help you were sure you’d lost the trail to the house long ago, along with the last semblance of warmth in Snowchester. You should have taken their offer of refuge and waited out the storm.

one of my FAVORITE favorite things that improv and/or collaborative storytelling like ttrpgs and online roleplay allow for is accidental foreshadowing. when things that seemed and were in fact innocuous at the time suddenly become significant due to their unintentional connection to another, later story beat that no one was aware it could be traced back to from until it happened? that fucks so unbelievably hard i go apeshit every time
