I cant type on the switch I wish I could just throw these extra relics in a box and people could come take what they need
imagine a community box you can put stuff you dont want in tho
plushies, pods, stickers, relics
you can add as much as you like but you can only take one item per real world day
ah yes my favourite trope
WHHYYY is there a limit on how many boovars you can have fuck off
So like...
(Spoilers until the cut)
when was the last time we talked to jel. is he dead.
i honestly really do think the feathers left behind by the staff thief are a calling card or just on purpose for some reason. as far as we can tell, they're very good at covering their tracks and staying hidden. maybe i'm giving them too much credit, but they just don't seem like the kind of person to keep leaving evidence behind accidentally (once maybe. but twice?). a calling card, misdirection, communication,, idk the why but it just seems way too,,, purposeful. to me at least.
we know that this person is one step ahead and/or following us. both most likely. i imagine they're trying to keep an eye on us too. if this is some kind of anti-watcher play, they might be egotistic enough to try to show off. if this person is genuinely trying to stay out of sight, they might be smart enough to try to misdirect us/frame someone else. if there's some kind of religious / culty / conspiracy theory reason, they might want us to figure out the connection. idk man, i just think there's more to the feathers than meets the eye
Ooooo I really like this theory. That would make so much more sense than them just randomly leaving a trail.
Maybe it could even be a group of people who are all working together and leaving the feathers behind as a misdirection to make us think it’s just one person?
ooo maybe!! there are certainly multiple groups who have reasonable motive against the watchers/majiri. and groups who would want anything related to flow and/or ancient humans.

Disclaimer that I am not some kind of theory or meta expert, I'm just writing down my thoughts. I also don't have a strong conclusion to this, I just wanted to put all my observations into one area.
So here's what I've pieced together so far:
Staff Thief is confirmed(?) to be a Palian Man.
Staff Thief also leaves black feathers behind everywhere he goes.
Beast of the Elderwoods was injured by some kind of giant animal, not Hassian.
I'm ASSUMING we're going to find out that Staff Thief is ALSO some kind of shapeshifter a là Beast, but since it leaves behind normal-looking feathers I don't think it's an Echo-based transformation.
Because of where we initially found the feathers (Aeroflow temple) it COULD be a black Silverwing.
However from the new Year of the Horse poster and some comments made by Nai'o in the new bulletin board quest, we now know that (although still horselike) Riffrocs have feathers.
So staff thief at this point if a shapeshifter is PROBABLY either a black Silverwing or Riffroc, but Subira said Silverwings don't typically come in that color and Silverwings aren't associated with Majiri, but Riffrocs ARE, since we now know that humans had their own horse mounts.
Other than him acting sus occasionally, Eshelon doesn't seem to be the Staff Thief, but obviously he could just be a REALLY good liar. But, the devs have pulled the "are they evil or not?" trick once before with Tamala immediately prior to this questline and I think it'd be silly if they did it twice in a row, I also would hope that they wouldn't be so OBVIOUSLY suspicious with an ACTUAL villain.
My points against him being the thief: he's using a relic like us to ward off the Echo/Beast, the staff is nowhere in sight. He helped disarm the Majordomo, the Majordomo was definitely not friends with him, he's helping us upgrade the signet rings, he's overall really helpful etc. His demeanor is a LOT like Kenyatta where he doesn't want to seem childish.
My points toward him being the thief: It's interesting how every time the player is in danger from Echo, he's suddenly there to help. Is he perhaps WAY faster than a normal Majiri would be (via shapeshifting)? Or, is the player simply not noticing him walking up to them because y'know, each time they were busy fighting Echo invading their mind or face to face with the Beast. Also he knows how to do a Flow recharging ritual and is fine with keeping things hidden from the Order. Tamala has a strong suspicion of him (yes I do trust her instincts somewhat, even though I recognize that she may just be biased against rich people, which, same).
Points in both categories: If you tell him he needs better friends he sighs and says "yes, I do."
If he IS the thief I 100% don't believe it's for evil reasons. Whoever is responsible may be misguided. Or may be misinformed. Or bound to the cartel like Reth and Zeki and forced to do their dirty work.
On a purely meta standpoint, Eshelon has a shop and is confirmed to be getting a friendship line and maybe romance in the future so for logistical reasons the devs can't throw him in jail.
I still have a theory in the back of my mind that Subira's former partner is responsible though. We don't much about him other that he was her Defender, and Subira hasn't traveled with a Defender since. I totally forget if we were told why though (and the wiki is no help) but a rogue Order member would have exactly the right amount of combat and Flow knowledge.
Random, but while rereading Subira's romance questline I unearthed that apparently Eshelon owns a vineyard (Eshe must not dislike him THAT much to be recommending his products to a Watcher lol)
this scene is very much how i'm feeling about eshelon rn

SO MANY THOUGHTS SO MANY AHHHHHHHHH
major major major spoilers for the royal highlands update!! please don't read if you don't want spoilers!!
FRIEND COME BACK AND PLAY THE UPDATE
FINALLY FINISHED!!!!! I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS HOLY SHIT DUDE
I KNEW IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
the outfits i got!! i actually really like the ace one! the little rockets on the back activate when you start running it's so cute
okay i really do like the new homelines But there are a couple of things stopping me from fully committing to them,,
room sizes!! i was hoping with the new homes we could perhaps get away from using the builders walls for actual walls but no
changing the look of the ceiling! i dont know why but for some reason the ceiling feels so much more obvious in the new houses? are they shorter? is it just because im looking at empty houses? idk? but its really making me want different ceilings
windows! i! can! look! out! of!!!!!!!!!!!!
i miss all the fun addons from the harvest houses,, bay windows and porches and the courtyard and its kinda just those things i think but pleasedevsiloveoptionssomuch
i am once again asking for functional doors inside the house please and thank you
idk i do really like them and the devs seem convinced this new housing system will allow them to get more creative but so far it feels more aesthetic than function. which is fine yknow its whatever. but i think i was under the impression that the new system would make it (perhaps marginally) easier for them to add more things players have been asking for in the realm of house layouts and options and add-ons. not just. yknow. the door looks a little different lol
as of right now, i just dont really see a reason to commit to changing my main plot or making a whole new plot for these houses considering the only real addition is just the second floor. which is nice!! but it's just more space
and some things that i would love that i don't think they'll actually do lol
a basement my beloved.....
the ability to just,, place walls! it doesnt have to be super out there either i would take pre-sized walls... but i feel like this is something easy they could do if they just,, coded them as wall decor? and also let players place things on them? but if they just attached to the pre-existing walls like im not crazy right they could do this?
can they make glitching a feature... would they... definitely not in it's actual current form considering the amount of work but it would be nice if we could fuse stuff together without the actual glitching part... a dream..... mostly want this because the furniture options are so limited
more indoor stair options,,, especially smaller options too for platforms and whatnot,,, actually maybe add some prebuilt platforms too,,, stairs included so i can stop making the fucking iron shelves
life-size hassian cutout board
WINDOWS I CAN LOOK OUT OF DEVS PLEASE
