JOKE-OGRAPHY:

In this Bible story (Matthew 13:47-50), Jesus is wrapping up teaching a crowd with parables. He ends with a parable about a net thrown into the sea, which gathers fish of every kind, and afterwards is sorted through by the fishers. He likens this to the kingdom of heaven, that is, mankind's growing communion with God, which culminates at the end of time in the Final Judgment. Until the end, the net collects all kinds -- good and bad -- but in the end, the wicked and the righteous will be sorted. The righteous will be brought to God, but the wicked will be thrown into hell, or Gehenna, or the "fiery furnace" where there will be "wailing and gnashing of teeth." It's a simple parable about transcendent justice -- a classic!

In this cartoon, Jesus tells the Parable of the Net, but two fishers in the back of the audience struggle to hear Him. One hears Him say something about "fishers" and being thrown into the "furnace" but he misses most of the rest. He also hears Jesus say there will be "wailing" in the furnace (as in "crying"), but he thinks Jesus said "whaling" (as in "hunting whales"). The first fisher pieces together what he understood and concludes that Jesus is saying that fishers who go to hell (the furnace) will have to change occupations from hunting fish to hunting whales. The second fisher complains that he doesn't WANT to hunt whales; it's altogether a very different job from fishing, of course. Thus, he decides to stop sinning so he doesn't have to go to hell and change jobs.

I had to think about this for a minute because first I was trying to think do I choose my favorite word based on how it feels on the tongue? What it means? Some other sentimental attachment?

Ultimately I went with how it feels on the tongue. I can hardly say I use crepuscular in my day to day speech (skill issue I suppose) but it just feels so nice rolling off the tongue. I do like the definition as well but truly I chose it for sound first.
