Amy: She was on here talking about that and one of the things that really moved me that I didn't think about as a straight person is that because at the time she had to be closeted, relationships ended like they did for everybody else and no one got to grieve publicly. You had to be crying in your room that “you and your best friend” weren't hanging out anymore.
Rosie: Well the thing that got me the most because I was with a woman who has recently passed away, her name was Corby and I was, it was one of my first relationships and I was with her for seven years and when we broke up, the pain of it was so intense and I couldn't even tell my family.
My family didn't want to hear about it even though they knew I was living with her and they knew that now I wasn't. No one brought it up, nobody said are you okay and that is very, very isolating and lonely.
And it makes you feel that you're sort of doomed by being gay. Which is no different than being left-handed or having blue eyes.
