Excerpt from Songs of Ourselves written by Susan Edwards. 1973.
11-year-old Warwick Davis and Carrie Fisher
“George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, gave me the part of Wicket, the Ewok who has a five-minute scene with Carrie Fisher. Wicket finds Carrie, as Princess Leia, unconscious after she crashes her speeder bike.
When she appeared on set, Carrie showed her concern for my wellbeing in the sweltering Ewok costume. ‘Are you OK in there, Warwick?’ she said. ‘It must be so hot.’
She reached down behind a log and pulled out a carton of chocolate milk with a long straw and fed me cookies in between takes. She was everything an 11-year-old Ewok could possibly wish for…” [Daily Mail interview covering Davis’ career]

The tendency of biphobes within the community to fold the identities of bi/pan/queer women partnered with men into those men is fucking horrifying IMO.
Not only do some people claim these women are “basically straight”, I’ve seen people act as though they’re basically straight men. No more do we have the positivity and emphasis of the idea that women don’t have the male gaze and aren’t objectifying women by being attracted to them, ohhhh no. Suddenly their attraction to women is somehow tied to enabling the straight male gaze! Or something! They enable their male partners! Maybe they talk about women they find attractive with their straight-or-bi male partners and that’s exploitative of Real Queer Identity TM!
And suddenly bi women are predatory sexually. Suddenly bi women are bringing some sort of tainted male gaze into spaces for women. Suddenly you just can’t trust the relationships of bi women, specifically. Suddenly, (female) bisexuality becomes not only deceptive or “dirty” but actively threatening and something to be stamped out.
Not to mention the tendency to assume bi women’s lives revolve around and cannot exist seperate from men. Yo! That is not true of ANY WOMAN in ANY RELATIONSHIP. Not even straight women. Not even bi women partnered with men. “We can’t trust this bi woman because the most important person in her life is a man so she prioritises men”- no, she considers a relationship with that person a single priority, presumably amongst many, in her life. Stop treating her like a data point in your Queer Theory TM and start treating her like a human being with individual needs, priorities and desires, asshat.
Stop demanding bi women choose every second of their lives according to your Queer Politics Checklist and start acknowledging that human beings may make their choices for human reasons, and that bi women are human beings.
