yes!!! I did find out later when I went to search for his actual contributions that I guess he did make the Knights of The Nine quest when he was hired as a contract worker on Oblivion, but idk I feel like the weight of that questline on the vast vibrant world of TES isn't any massive fountain of lore either
not everything he wrote is bad, but yeah to say he's singlehandedly the man that created TES or contributed the absolute best parts just isn't true. Like you said, it totally was just weird for the sake of being weird.
It's also frustrating when people take the trial of Vivec (I don't even wanna get into that can of worms) or c0da (thank you to @eldritchcrab for reminding me that it exists) as absolute canon when they are fanworks, just cause he worked at Beth doesn't mean his word is all how it really went/will go, and also let me remind everyone that-
VIVEC IS NOT HIS CHARACTER!!! He is a copyrighted character belonging to Bethesda, that's not his OC no more!!! hasn't been for the past 26 years!!!
don't get me wrong while I love the lore I do not take it as a strict set of rules either and LOVE fanworks because that's what makes the community come to life everytime someone goes "well in c0da they say-" or "Michael Kirkbride confirmed that-" I wanna genuinely rip my skin off.
Sorry for the long rant I just have big feelings about this lol
