This is a little fanfic drabble I wrote featuring the Mad King and my own character Acacia, please be gentle, I wrote this at 1am on a flight😂

He was hideous. Not in the way many others would see. He had a pretty face, and he was fairly in shape. Acacia might even say she found him attractive, if not for the fact she was being lead to him in chains along with other prisoners. Yes the Mad King was a charmer. But his energy, his aura. That is where the true ugliness hid. And that, is what Acacia saw in him. The raven haired witch stood her ground before the King despite the chains that bound her wrists tightly together. They had been there for some time now too, her wrists baring red marks and scrapes, even a few beads of blood where Acacia had struggled against the bindings. It was clear she had been in his hands for some time too. She was thin, no longer holding her toned, athletic figure but instead resembling a pile of sticks. Her eyes were ringed with dark shadows of tiredness and her hair, usually kept neat, was an absolute mess. But despite all of that, all the torture she had endured, the things she had seen, Acacia stood her ground.
"Kneel," the Mad King commanded. The other prisoners on either side of Acacia all kneeled before the King, whimpering and shaking. He smiled, until he noticed Acacia standing strong before him, as if she hadn't taken 20 lashings just before this meeting. She locked eyes with him and did nothing.
"I said kneel!" The King shouted this time, causing even his minions around him to flinch and shy away. Acacia however, did not. She simply held eye contact with the King. She took a step forward then, strong and powerful, her chains rattling with the movement.
"No." It was one simple word but it held more power than any enchantment or spell the witch had ever spoken. Her tone was low, voice gravelly as if she hadn't spoken in days, and yet her voice held such strength it even took the King aback. He glared down at the witch before him, eyes grazing over her. He shook his head and scoffed in wonder and bewilderment.
"You truly are something else," he said before looking back up to the witch. He made a gesture with his hand and the henchmen beside her stepped close, putting a hand on her shoulder and swiftly kicking the back of her knee. Acacia cried out in shock and pain, falling down onto one knee. She tried to fight her way back up, growling almost at being held down harshly by the henchman.
"Four months. I've held you here for four months," the King spoke as he stood and started to pace in front of Acacia.
"Four months and I've learned nothing from you." He stopped his pacing, right in front of Acacia and glared down at her. "Not even your name."
"I've told you what you may call me," Acacia pointed out with a smug smirk. The King didn't seem to like that much as he snarled and kicked out the leg Acacia had been resting on, forcing her to both knees before he then forced her head to the floor, foot rested firmly on the back of her neck.
"You are no daughter of any devil, girl," he spat with a venom none around him had ever seen. No one had ever gotten the King like this. Acacia was one he so far, just couldn't break. And it annoyed him to no end. Acacia struggled to turn her head to the side under his boot and he only pressed her head harder into the hard concrete floor. He suddenly grew tired of these games, lifting his foot and swiftly kicking the witch in the side of the head. "Take her to the water works and don't be kind," ordered the King. His tone was firm, his word final. Two henchaman picked up a still reeling Acacia under her arms, lifting her to her feet where she staggered. And then, she laughed. She was laughing. She looked up at the King and grinned.
"You'll.. never break me," her words came out broken due to just how much her head was spinning but, judging by the blurred scowl she earned from the King, she guessed he caught the gist. And then, she was being dragged, her feet failing her as she was spun around and walked out of the Mad King's makeshift throne room. "My.. how far the mighty fall," Acacia said softly before breaking into yet another fit of laughter, the sound echoing throughout the room.
The Mad King glared menacingly after Acacia. That damn girl was in for a world of hurt, and was prepared to make sure she would never, ever, escape his grasp. After all, there was no one to save her. She was alone. She had to be. No one with a family or friends waiting for them would be so easy going with a knife plunged halfway to their heart. He would break her. He would find out all she knows about the Fakes. Or she would suffer. For a long, long time.
