hand shakes mean something to the hollow heads and im trying to figure it out, hear me out
first time we see orange with rygb, green introduces himself with a handshake. green and orange end up being the closest in color gang
mitsi offers her hand to victim as a sign of friendship and acknowledgement, which causes them to be really close in the end, romantically or otherwise
dark offers his hand to h4ck3r, either in a known or unknown way to mock him and mitsi
obviously the most famous one, when chosen and dark team up in ep 3
its been on my mind even before episode 10 came out, when i was really into alan becker as a kid. the scene with h4ck3r and dark felt too on purpose
handshakes dont mean much in the western world, only really being seen as a "greeting" and "form of good etiquette", but why? and why do all of them do it in super important story moments?
if orange didnt shake greens hand, he wouldnt have wanted to save the others when they got deleted
if dark didnt shake chosens hand in ep 3 one of them probably wouldve died and the other wouldve been subjected to slavery or deleted when alan got bored of them/they didnt serve their purpose anymore
if victim didnt shake mitsis hand, he wouldnt have calmed down and realized the cursors were villagers, most likely not starting his company (even if he did i wouldnt have been as successful without mitsi)
the shot cut away before we saw it happen, but its not off the table that h4ck3r shook darks hand, a literal deal with the devil (parallels mitsi being an angel figure to victim). theyre going to team up in some capacity
i want to know the reason though. is it just coincidence? is it on purpose? why? did alan think it was just a cool call back to the other times he did it?
my crack theory is that the hollow heads just have an instinct to do it. they all like to because it reminds them of someone who they like/trust
i might go a little off the path here but it slightly backs up my "hollow heads are connected psychically" theory (i might talk about that one day). not out there but one scene in ep 12 reminded me of it
orange knew what happened from possibly hundreds of kilometers away. he could tell that something was wrong with victim and chosen
one reason why i believe this theory goes to this popular tidbit that orange knew what his friends were in danger for avm 11-13. its like a spidey sense in a way. but it seems either plot convenient or inconsistent
it makes you think though. obviously oranges had powers his whole creation, its baked into the hollow heads code. is apart of that a spiderman like 7th sense? for danger for his friends across dimensions??
it may be hands specifically instead of just handshakes? the first thing that comes to mind is avlol, orange offering his hand to purple and pulling him into a hug
a fair point against the theory; how else are you meant to show affection with stick figures that dont have faces or voices? but i would point out that the rest of the sticks dont do this. reds absolutely the hugging type and we only see him do it a couple times ever, usually opting to stimming flapping his arms instead
there might be a physical metaphor for shaking someones hand in the stick universe? idk where im going with this
