Iâm good
âI believe in you, Dean. So please, please believe in me too.â
They will always choose each other.
I see light at the end of this tunnel.  And Iâm sorry you donât.  I am.  But itâs there.  And if you come with meâŚI can take you to it.
Weâre supposed to be a team.Â
i know everyoneâs focusing on the âyou canât trust me you can only trust youâ
but that âiâm done if youâre doneâ language thatâs their entire fucking relationshipÂ
if youâre done fighting with me iâm done fighting with you
if youâre done trusting me iâm done trusting you
if youâre done living iâm done living
âClosing the gates. Itâs a suicide mission for you. I want to slam hell shut too, okay? But I want to survive it. I want to live. And so should you. You have friends up here, family. Hell youâve even got your own room now. You were right, âkay. I see light at the end of this tunnel and Iâm sorry you donât. I am. But itâs there. And if you come with me, I can take you to it.â

Itâs a suicide mission for you. But I want to survive it. And you should too. You have friends here, family⌠You even have your own room⌠I see the light at the end of the tunnel and Iâll take you there⌠Youâre not a grunt youâre a genius⌠Youâre the best hunter Iâve ever seen- better than me, better than Dad⌠I believe in you, Dean. So please, believe in me too.
Sam, breaking the fandomâs hearts and Deanâs. (via sopranish)
âI need you to be safe, Sam. Okay? Thatâs what I need.â
I find it truly beautiful that the one thing Dean needs in his âunimportant little lifeâ is Sam â safe and happy and away from danger.
That the other 10% of his â90% crapâ self is made up entirely of Sam. Â
Sam. Sam. Sammy. His Sam.
He needs Sam to realize that thereâs more to life than hunting, than demons, than Dean.
But what he doesnât get is that Sam doesnât want to be safe.  He doesnât want to get out, to have a life, become a man of letters â -
He doesnât get that when Sam says he sees a light at the end of the tunnel â it isnât with a wife, and kids, and grand-kids, living âtil heâs fat and bald and chugging viagra â
What he sees is Dean.
Him and Dean.
Together.
Living.
Or Dying.Â
Together.
Because as weâve seen countless times over â our boys are never trulyhappy without the other one right there by their side.
âYou made these?â
Now eat your dinner.
Dean always willing to sacrifice his life for Samâs. And Sam always trying to show Dean he has a reason to live.
Trial and Error aka the episode where someone on the creative team finally found âThe Guide to Sam Winchester Characterizationâ lying around and went, âOHâ
Snarky. But true. Look at that, 713 people agree and it's not even 12 hours after the episode aired yet.
As much as this episode showed the craving Dean has for stability in his own life - how much he wants to take care of someone in a way that doesnât involve killing monsters - it also shows something else.
Dean wants Sam to live out HIS dream of ânormalcyâ and I canât help but feel like maybe - just maybe - he sees the Batcave as a way to give Sam that. Because he almost lost Sam, and he doesnât want to do that again, which means that he has to try to give Sam all those things he went out looking for.Â
And if that means learning to love salad, then fine. Dean Winchester can learn to love salad. (But also, Dean really does love taking care of people.)
And yes, this is heartbreaking. Because itâs one thing to want to make someone else happy, but Dean doesnât believe heâll ever find any of that happiness on his own.Â
Sam, meanwhile⌠Sam wants Dean to be happy too. He just doesnât know how to make that happen.
(Which is why the conversations that happened in this episode were needed and yes, overdue for both Sam and Deanâs sake.)
Very smart read on Dean post 810.
Oh my god, I have been waiting for this episode since fucking season 5.
One of my favorite episodes, if not my absolute favorite, is Point of No Return, mostly because of the conversation Sam and Dean have in the car at the end. Dean finally puts his faith in Sam and says heâs going to start treating Sam like an adult and an equal instead of a child he has to take care of.
But, everyone seemed to forget that in S6, and between soullessness, the wall in his head, and the Lucifer hallucinates, it would have been hard if not impossible for Dean to keep good on the promise he made in the end of S5. Basically, the writers ruined that with two straight years of Sam-whumping.
But now, Sam took charge. Sam saved Dean. Sam told Dean to believe in him and Dean is. Itâs beautiful and itâs everything Iâve been wanting from the show and never thought theyâd deliver.
Iâm just so happy, you guys.
dustydreamsanddirtyscars said: Glad you are so positive about the episode. :) Wish I could say the same thing. But actually, and thatâs rare because I usually agree a lot with you :) I donât see any of it as positive. For me personally the whole episode 10 steps back in the wrong...
Oh no, Iâm so sorry! Thatâs really not how I see it at all. For me this is the first step FORWARD the boys have made in AGES.Â
In a sense itâs going back, because itâs taken the boys back to the point where Sam was the one fighting Lucifer, while Dean had to let him go, had to let his little brother grow up and be a man and stand on his own. But since S06-7 sort of took the boys BACK from that, putting Dean back in his caretaking role when it came to Sam and having Sam dependent on Dean again, thatâs still a step forward, itâs just going back to the forward position theyâd already reached⌠ha, if that makes sense? :p
And itâs BETTER than when Sam was standing against Lucifer, because that was a suicide mission for Sam and everyone knew it. And Dean sort of saw it as a suicide mission for him as well, he went to the battlefield planning on going out with his brother. But this time Sam is fighting to LIVE and heâs fighting for Dean to LIVE and in doing so itâs going to show Dean how to embrace being alive and be independent and fight to claw out his own corner of the world (which heâs already started doing with his room).
