the dynamic between two people who love a third person so much and come to understand each other because of that is so important to me. you would put them first, and so would i. you understand why we have to save them from themself. i trust you with their life, and so, that means more than if i trusted you with mine. the love doesn't have to be the same, but it's powerful enough that you understand why you're not the only satellite drawn into their orbit.
Feng, cheske and Diem 🥹🥹
i love fake plot holes
little inconsistencies that at first you assume "oh, the author must have fucked up", but then later on you realize that no, it was on purpose, they wanted you to think they fucked up but they hadnt
related: when you think "this has Implications the author didn't think about" and then it turns out the author was thinking about them the whole time
you get me
dear lord, please take all life problems and responsibilities away from fanfic writers but also make them financially stable and happy with nothing to worry about so they can happily focus on writing and posting fanfiction. amen
Do I actually want to write this fanfic or do I just want to wallow in the delicious daydream like a pig in the mud?
Unfortunately I wish for others to wallow in my magnificent mud pit
thank you for the magnificent mud pits, fanfic writers
I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.
I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.
Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.
Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.
Are there any other particularly egregious examples?
This book already exists, sort of! Or at least, it’s a biology textbook but I bought it for writing purposes:
It starts with a chapter about freezing to death, and it is without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve read in years (and I read a lot of horror fiction).
This book can be downloaded for free on Researchgate, posted there by the author himself:
The Biology of Human Survival: Life and Death in Extreme Environments
ohh don’t shoot me sir
As someone whose series is consistently in the 130k, I can see the monster approaching
There's going to be so much work ahead ;-;
What I thought handing over my manuscript to my editor would be like
What it wound up being
*slams manuscript down* THE BOY IS ALMOST THERE! Two-ish more rounds of copy-editing, then two-ish rounds of proofreading, and I can publish in the fall!
Morals Suck is book 3 out of a 4 part apocalypse series inspired by The Last Of Us and The 100, and I'm so excited for people to see Feng's growth from Monster-For-Hire to I-Deserve-More-Than-This-And-So-Do-You
Yes, I thought of the Pedro Pascal meme while writing that
I love it when fan fiction writers are like: “ah shit, this was meant to be one part but I started writing it and now it has to be three”. Like the fanfic is happening to them and not being created by them.
Unfortunately all writing is like this
