The halls were fairly quiet as she strode down them, only a student here or there. If they werenât of any importance to her, then she didnât pay them any mind. Though if they were and they aided her social standing somehow, she would nod or send them a very fake smile. She cradled a book in her arms, one she had not even cracked open to read before. It simply made it look like she had a purpose walking by herself. The common room had grown incredibly dull for her taste, so she had been searching for someone. Her sisters or her cousins, perhaps even Lucius. Anyone to talk to.
While turning the corner, she stops abruptly upon seeing a Ravenclaw girl and Cassius Mulciber standing quite close together. Curious, Narcissa moves until she can see what is happening. Money being exchanged and then an envelope. For a moment she is puzzled, but it doesnât take her long to figure out what is inside the envelope. If it is enough to get Mulciber to give out money to a Ravenclaw, then it had to be something he greatly desired. Knowing his character, she knew it had to be drugs.
Bold of him to do a drug exchange in the halls, especially since it had only been a short while since his detention. She simply rolled her eyes and planned to leave before she was seen, but Cassius had already locked eyes with her. So she stands there with confidence, allowing him to approach her. If she walked away now, he may see her as a coward or worse, he may chase her down. Neither was a happy alternative.Â
âStalk you?â  A scoff left her delicate lips as she looked up at him, eyes narrowed. âYou arenât worth the time, Cassius. It seems youâre quite eager to go back to detention. Did they treat you well?â
âNot worth the time? That hurts, Narcissa.â Cassius put his hands in his pockets as he glared down at the girl threatening him. As minor as it would be, he didnât want any more detentions; or his drugs taken. He wouldâve thought Narcissa was better than this. âBut you wouldnât really tell on me, would you?â Cassius asked with a venomous grin.
He had no issues stooping to her level. If she wanted to toss around big words, he would do the same, âBecause. Well it would be such a shame if Lucius heard about your new boyfriend. A Mudblood too? But you fall for any pretty face, donât you? And while youâve just been betrothed, no less. Another Black falling so far from grace.âÂ
Perhaps in another time, he wouldâve been a bit nicer to Narcissa, but Cassiusâs patience was wearing thin. He didnât have time to play games and was in no mood to have Narcissa trying to push him. She was lucky she was an important person. If sheâd been some little nobody, well. Sheâd be finding herself dealing with more than just Mulciber. But still, the youngest Black sister was treading dangerous waters.
The boy tilted his head a bit, once more scowling down at Narcissa, âNow... What would Malfoy think of you then? If he heard it from me, then Rabastan saw you sneaking off down a hall with that boy? And Amycus saw you passing notes through other students to the Mudblood? Oh, the letters heâd write home to Master Malfoy...âÂ
