Just having a chill day, lads
I absolutely love the casting for the AOS movies because yeah Chris Pine kinda looks like a yassified Jim Kirk, and Zachary Quinto does look like a younger Spock. But then they looked at big, tall, broad shouldered, muscular action man Karl Urban and went. Yeah, I think he can play scrawny bean pole shrimp postured, looks like a light gust of wind would blow him away, Leonard McCoy. And by god, were they correct because it was like the spirit of Deforest Kelley himself possessed him to play Bones.
Just looked at a blog where the header description said 'sometimes I reblog posts I like so I don't forget them'.
And I feel like that, right there, explains so much about how the site has changed in the last few months.
People now think reblogging is an unusual behaviour, rather than a default.
Tumblr newbies, please, for the love of baby Jesus, reblog the posts you like. That is the whole reason the site exists - for you to collect all your shiny fandom objects in a single space. Which you can organize to your heart's content. Or not organize at all, if that's your jam.
Our blogs are intended to be collections of posts, not collections of likes.
THE ENTIRE POINT OF TUMBLR IS REBLOGGING.
Liking does absolutely nothing. There is no algorithm like on IG that will use likes to throw content at people. If you don’t reblog, then no one who doesn’t follow that person (or happen to find it in the tags) will see that post.
Tumblr is supposed to be your bookcase where you show off all of your pretties: the posts you like and the ones that you want to promote to support the other creators in your fandom/community.
An interesting demonstration of how the human brain works.
But also something of a lesson regarding perception, and the unreliability of subjective perspective versus objective reality.
You can be extremely certain about how you perceive the world, your "lived experience," that which you "feel it in my heart." But that doesn't mean it's actually true. And it doesn't mean we have to endorse it, or ignore or outright deny objective reality.
That's a "you" thing, not a "we" thing.
shout out to the sound designer who was like "I know exactly what kind of music to whip out for this one!"
I've never actually seen this before, and WOW is that cool!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANE DUANE!!! @dduane 💖💖💖
truly one of my favorite authors, especially in star trek. like i don't even know how to explain it but the existence of diane duane makes me so happy; i'm currently reading the wounded sky and it's SO good and i'm so excited for all of the romance between kirk and spock that i've seen in excerpts of the book 💖 everything you've done is so amazing and idk if you'll even see this post but i hope you have a great birthday!!!
Thanks so much! It was a very good birthday indeed. :)
(And thanks for the nice words. Glad the book's working for you!)
My latest cartoon for @GuardianBooks.
This is what will happen when I die if I am good.
Violet Bridgerton is truly gods strongest soldier. Every season she tells one of her children they're in love and every season they scoff in her face before causing seven different scandals to reach the same conclusion.
don't you dare hide this in the tags
Neil how are you doing this with your eyes? is it an eyebrow thing? pls elaborate
When I was a small boy, having seen Spock raise one eyebrow, I would stand in front of a bathroom mirror working out how to raise each eyebrow in turn, for hour after hour. So yes. Mad pirate look mostly happens in the eyebrows.

The Officially UNofficial Wesley Crusher Fan Club!
Why? Well, because we are all kinds of not official, and we don't want to get sued, we are the most UNofficially Official you can be without a permit. And it's about time Wesley Crusher got the love he always deserved, if you ask me. Which you didn't, because I'm using a rhetorical device. Thank you for your patient indulgence.

Congratulations to them both. What lovely news!
sometimes I think I should get rid of my spn icon/url and then something Happens and I spam reblog a bunch of spn posts and then I’m like you know what I gotta keep that warning there.

Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

May I present to you, nationalclothing.org?
It doesn't have everything, but it's still my first source when researching traditional clothing from other cultures.
There's also this resource on historical fashion: Claire’s Historical Fashion Reference & Resources
another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this
