this is mostly going to be random thoughts ab mha/bnha, particularly regarding a vigilante!izuku (and friends) au that perpetually revolves through my brain.
it is extremely likely that i won't ever post the full fic(s) for the au, but i hope you enjoy the snippets & shenanigans anyway.
also, if you see quotes/excerpts that look like they're hating on your favourite character: i promise i don't actually hate them. the only actual "hated" characters in the au are the HPSC & AFO. and endeavor... to an extent.

cat, "tisiphone" | 3000.04.21
«Weâve got a spring at the USJ.» Cat is dangling Himiko from a vent in the kitchen, fingers reaching for the sweet buns fresh from Lunch Rushâs oven, when their earpieces blare to life with Hitoshiâs voice. «L plus, Handyman, Fog. Possibly November.»
«Dammed up.» Minaâs addition is quiet, careful in a way that reads of eyes â and likely ears â on her.Â
«Not for me.» Lunch Rush jumps when Cat drops Himiko into a handstand and she flips off the counter onto her feet, already texting by the time Cat lands silently beside her. «Bomb?»
«Power Loader alerted,» Mei chimes, above the clang of mystery metal that will almost certainly save their lives. «Just grabbing my gear.»
«Cat, can youâ» Himikoâs question dies on her tongue as Cat drags the shadows in around them both. When the shadows clear, theyâre surrounded by chaos: villains and students scattered, alike, and Hitoshi in the centre of it all.
âAnnoyed All Might isnât here? What are you gonna do? Throw a tantrum?â And oh, isnât the pale hair and growing fury heâs taunting far too familiar.Â
âHitoshi.â The scolding comes through the blood gushing down Eraserheadâs broken cheek, dripping from his shattered nose.Â
âWhy you littleââ A small slip is the only opportunity Hitoshi needs to activate his Quirk.
âSit down.â Tomuraâs legs fold beneath him. âHands behind your back.â Before Tomura even hits the floor, the ground under Hitoshiâs feet fades, swallowing him in swirls of black fog. Catâs heart drops, both newly arrived vigilantes lunging towards the plaza, helplessly.
The comm line crackles into a sickening crunch.
«HITOSHI!» Shouto doesnât scream. Doesnât shout. Not like that, raw and broken and begging.
Tomura snaps awake.
âSuch a shame. He would have made a wonderful little villain.âÂ
âWhat did you do to him?â Eraser demands, thrashing beneath the Nomu. Tomura gestures, lazily, and the Nomu presses down, a sickening crack echoing as Eraserâs ribcage gives way beneath the crushing fist â not quite drowned by the scream it provokes.Â
«Whyâs Siren offline?» Meiâs voice is frantic, so is the click of her tech as she checks it, again and again and again, because her tech doesnât fail but the alternative is even more unimaginable. «It shouldnât even be possible to go offline, not unlessâ»
âLET HIM GO!â Izuku is out of the water and into the plaza, but itâs too late. âNo, no, noââ
âAw, another little hero brat?â Tomura sneers, even as he dodges Izukuâs first strike. âSay, Kurogiri, what did you do with the last one?â
âIâm afraid I dropped the boy off a cliff in the mountain zone.â Kurogiriâs neutral tone never wavers, calm and sure and entirely unfazed by the murder of a child. Of their brother.
«Unless the unit was destroyed,» Cat fills in, dully. Even as it moves, as it dives after Izuku, the world is slow and sludgy around it. Her motherâs screams ring in her ears. The scent of her sisterâs blood blocking her sensitive nose.Â
âNo! No, you canât have!â Himikoâs voice is a snarl, desperate and furious. âBring him back!â
âEven Sensei canât do that, little brat,â Tomura laughs, rolling his eyes. âNot where heâs gone.â
âYouâre lying!â As Izukuâs composure slips, so does his strike. Itâs barely a blink, but thatâs all it takes for Tomura to lock a hand around his throat.
They have just enough time to snarl, to swipe a knife, but itâs sloppy, through their tears, and Tomura just laughs as he dodges, as he ducks under and comes up closer. Comes up grinning, final finger closing around Izukuâs throat, and Cat doesnât think sheâll ever forget that gurgling, blood-choked scream.
âIZUâ!â Theyâre not even fast enough to catch Himiko, as she cries for Izuku, as she runs for him, as Tomura drops him in a puddle of his own blood.
âNomu!â It only takes one hit.Â
âNO!â The world splinters around them, throat and heart torn raw, and the last thing they feel is Tomuraâs Quirk biting into their skin.Â
âWoah, Cat, whatââ Himiko is dangling precariously above a counter laden in sweet buns, twisting to peer up at Cat as they gasp for breath they never should have lost, but there is no time to explain.Â
«Weâve got a spring at the USJ. L plus, Handyman, Fog. Possibly Novemberâ» Hitoshi cuts off at the sight of them, landing amidst the same chaos Cat remembers: villains and students scattered, alike, and Hitoshi, circling around to taunt Tomura in the centre of it all. They can see Izuku, Mina, and Asui perched on the broken ship down below.Â
«That was quick,» Mina chirps, as Cat releases the shadows, ignoring the way her very skin burns, the way exhaustion has already burrowed into her bones. They barely even hear her, through the pounding in their ears, the way their vision tunnels in with the intense need to protect, keep safe, fight for, dragged in by instincts only halfway their own.Â
«Power Loader alerted,» Mei chimes, through the same ringing clang. Cat really only registers the words because heâs expecting them. Tracking the progression as they stalk forward. «Just grabbing my gear.»
âAnnoyed All Might isnât here? What are you gonna do? Throw a tantrum?â Hitoshi turns his attention back to the fight.Â
âHitoshi,â Eraserhead scolds, from where the Nomu is still pressing him to the ground. From where Cat had watched the Nomu had crush him beneath a single palm.
âWhy you littleââ That same slip is the only opportunity Hitoshi needs to activate his Quirk again.
âSit down.â Tomuraâs legs fold beneath him, just like they had before. âHands behind your back.â The sick swirling in Catâs stomach finally spurs her into action, as Kurogiri appears on the scene, again.
The roar Cat releases then shakes the whole plaza, primal and predatory, making the villainâs head snap up, golden eyes widening. Hitoshi drops at the same time as Catâs heart, Himiko on their heels as they fling themself over the railing towards the plaza.
But this timeâ
«Siren? Report!» Izukuâs voice panics into the comms as Kurogiri recoils from Catâs snarl. «Sirenâ»
«Iâm fine!» Hitoshiâs voice crackles through the comms, just as Cat pulls herself up short to avoid a portal, Kurogiri vanishing behind it. «Oh, hey Frost.»
«Iâve got the plaza.» It will not watch them die again and they donât know how this ends, now. Donât know if it could ever be worse. «Fangsâ»
«On it!» Himiko turns to herd the group of terrified hero students and the unconscious Thirteen towards the control room, leaving Cat circling the frozen plaza on already-aching wings.
«Bun, Xeno, make a break for the control room when you can. If you can overrideâ»
«âoverride the controls, we can use the simulations against them! Yes!» Izuku agrees, tone brightening. Cat catches a glimpse of white and green bouncing out of hiding in the corner of their eye, then a flash of pink and purple and teal as Mina follows, ushering Asui along with her.
âHello, Tenko.â Tomuraâs eyes narrow as they come to perch on the top of the fountain and he finally unsticks from his post-hypnosis shock to acknowledge their arrival.
âCopycat.â It comes as a snarl from a dry throat. âYouâre meant to be dead!âÂ
«Iâm in.» Izuku works fast. «Red, you and Kacchan are in the ruins. If you move northwest, youâll make it to us. Iâve pinged a map to your comm, if you can activate your visor.»
âAw, arenât you glad to see me, Tomu-nii?â Cat pouts, spinning their knife with feigned nonchalance as they examine the scene, noting Kirishimaâs grateful response in their ear. Eraser is in bad shape already, they can see even from this distance. The blood pooling beneath him, gushing from his cracked-open skull, is a pretty bad sign. Inside them, a familiar, feral ferocity bares a tigerâs bloody teeth to demand vengeance, rage itching at the back of their eyes. She tightens her grip on the knife.
«Frost, Crypt, youâre in landslide with Hagakure.»
âYou little traitor!â Tomura shrieks, scratching furiously at his own throat, his own blood beneath his fingernails. âSenseiâ Sensei was so kind to you! Even despite your father!â
«Hagakureâs here?» Shoutoâs stoic as ever, but Cat can hear the familiar thrum of anxiety lining his words. «I froze half theâ oh, youâre ok.»
«Youâre going to want to move north to ruins,» Izuku advises, unperturbed, «Then northwest through ruins towards the steps.»
âThe only person here who cares about my father is you, Tenko. So why donât you just let Eraserhead go, and we can all go on our merry ways, and you can kill that bastard I call a father another time?â Its tail flicks as it bargains, watches Tomura assess his incapacitated cronies and his Nomu, occupied with crushing Shouta into the ground. Part of them, the dragon within them, raging at seeing their territory â their hoard â impinged upon, is almost excited for his refusal, for the fight they know will come.
«Tails, youâre in conflagration.» Izukuâs calm instructions continue through the comms. «If you go west into mountains, youâll find Yaomomo, Jirou, and Kaminari. They could do with a hand.»Â
âOr,â Tomura sneers, gesturing to the Nomu, ever-predictable. âI could kill Eraserhead, and then kill you, and see if that brings All Might out.âÂ
âOh, it wonât,â Cat assures, tiger-striped tail thrashing, wings flaring wider to balance them. âDaddy dearest is a little⊠short on time at the moment. You should really consider making an appointment.âÂ
«Ko and Pink are headed for windstorm to collect Tokoyami and Koda, and Iâm going for Aoyama on the far side of the plaza. The rest of you, regroup with Thirteen and the rest of the class ASAP.»
âNomu, kiââ Tomura cuts off with a scream as Cat swoops down from their perch to collide with him in a clash of feathers and claws. âFather!â The hand covering his face goes flying and he scrambles after it, as Cat uses their momentum to slam into the Nomu, digging their claws into its brain and activating Tomuraâs own Quirk. The Nomu squeals and she catches the blind punch it throws, relishing perhaps a little too much in the cracking of bones as they hurl its huge body over their shoulder, obliterating the fountain. Somewhere far behind them, glass shatters and someone â voice too deep to be any of the students â screams. The familiar pop of miniature explosions and manic cackling follow.Â
Mei has arrived.
âFuck, Eraser, you always get yourself into the best situations.â Blood and breaking skin flake from his elbow, drip down his face, and they both grimace as Cat comes to crouch over him.
âYeah, because youâve never found trouble,â he huffs, instead, creaking his bleeding head around to see Izuku emerging from the control room again, as Himiko and Mina disappear towards the downpour zone.
âWho the FUCK are you?â Bakugou Katsukiâs voice demands, distantly. The alarms that begin to scream almost â almost â drown out the sound of wicked cackling.
âTenko, you donât have to do thisââ Cat pleads, because once â once, before whatever dream-nightmare it had just lived through â he had been their brother. Because even through the rising rage, the animals in her soul know he was theirs, once, too.Â
âYou littleââ But Tomura is still blindly furious, still clutching his bruising gut as he lunges for them. They donât even have a chance to think, certainly donât have time to check their instincts, baying for blood, when he shoves a hand at their face, reaching, grabbing, like he used to so often in training. Just bare sharp teeth and bite down, feel their fangs pierce first flesh, then bone, and Tomura is still screaming when he manages to pull away, leaving two fingers behind.
âNomu, killâ!â His wail falls silent with the resounding crack of Catâs crowbar against his skull and he drops, like a puppet with his strings cut. Around them, they can see the flood zone coming to life, the villains trapped within screaming as the water swirls and spits and rises into rivers of bloodâ
âDUCK!â She does as Shouta instructs before even registering the command and a huge, inky fist slams into the space theyâd just stood.Â
«I needâ» The words come with a mouthful of blood and gore, two disjointed fingers splattering into a puddle on the tiled floor, and the cliff on the other side of the plaza seems to be creeping closer, the ground rumbling an earthquake, but Shouto barely seems to care about either of those facts as he appears from the dust and haze of other fights, like a miracle, frost and fire crackling around his fingertips.
«Got him.» Cat doesnât even have time to be grateful, to appreciate the sensation of having their people safe, together, as the Nomu springs again, cracking through Shoutoâs ice. They jump, snapping one massive finger as they swing themself up, up, onto the creatureâs shoulder. But even a feral dragon isnât fast enough to dodge the snapping beak that closes around their ribcage with a crunch.
She manages to roll as she hits the ground, but that doesnât save the broken ribs rattling in their chest, the shattered and drooping wing, even as they stagger back to their feet. They cough, spraying more blood over the rich red trail her little tuck and roll left behind, reaching for a knife and the last dregs of power within them.Â
The Nomuâs beady eyes are fixed on the battered beast before it, like it can sense her weakness â or, more likely, can smell her blood. Cat braces as the artificial muscles flex, one huge paw clawing at the ground beneath it, andâ
âand going still, as the world splits open with a searing screech.
the way i could make an essay about how the average depiction on vigilante!izuku falls into albert camus' definition of 'rebellion' whereas villain!izuku (and just the League in general, even in canon) falls into his definition of 'revolution'

I feel like the big thing people get wrong when they think of Bakusquad and Dekusquad dynamic is that they think Bakusquad are the crazy ones, not the other way around.
This honestly is so funny to me because in cannon Iida has tried to commit murder, with Todoroki and Deku only kind of trying to stop him. Not even mentioning Ochakos (and Tsuâs!!) relationship with confirmed villain Toga. Meanwhile Bakugo goes to bed at 9 every night.
Like when I imagine their groups hanging out itâs like âomg letâs do something crazy!!â
For Bakusquad thatâs making cookies at 11pm, or dying their hair at 9:30 on a school night.
For Dekusquad? Thatâs keying and spray painting all over Endeavours car. Then accidentally participating in an underground fight club. (They won obviously) Or going out to some random field at 3 in the morning to help Hatsume test out some insane machine she just made, knocking over a water tower and fleeing the scene.
Itâs just funny how people always think itâs the opposite, when itâs really not. Like the Dekusquad look innocent and act like theyâre the normal ones, but in reality they are all one step away from getting arrested every single time they go out. While bakusquad act crazy and rowdy, the craziest thing their doing is getting slushys at 7/11 and overflowing the cup more then they should.
I like to imagine whenever bakugo and Deku hangout they both will talk about the crazy stuff they did, and not elaborate, leaving them both thinking the other is as âunhingedâ.
(Bakugo is convinced heâs the daredevil between them)
