guys, help a girl out. how do corrupt spren really work? i don't think their powers change, right? and they still use stormlight to power their abilities? how exactly do things change with the surges? i mean, i know the visions Glys shows Renarin are messed up, so what would a corrupt Honourspren look like? or a corrupt Highspren, or Cultivationspren? as far as i remember, Mraize's Crypric looked weird but their powers worked normally? does it change the Nahel bond?? does it change the surges???? all questions are for research purposes. pls info dump me and explain to me or just tell me what sections of the books it's in, please and thank you 🫶🏻

I think the way it works is that where regular Radiants have two regular surges from Honor and Cultivation's collaboration, an enlightened spren gets one regular surge and one of Odium's surges.

Judging by what the Fused and Unmade can do, I'm guessing if you're making up an enlightened spren you can choose one regular surge and one of the accompanying surges of Odium.

So like an enlightened Cryptic could theoretically grant regular Illumination and then Midnight Essence instead of Soulcasting. Just a guess, but that's how I would do it!

Couple of notes:

the fused are not in fact voidbinding, and renarin is.

the fused just surgebind but powered by voidlight, which makes it more efficient on their bodies and less efficient everywhere else, seen clearly with the heavenly ones and the magnified ones, less clearly with the pursuer but still true.

voidbinding are separate powers of odium of which we only know future sight for sure. but the unmade are probably good examples.

also, renarin’s surge of illumination isn’t replaced, but kind of piggybacked on. So I think the guess about midnight mother is good, but it wouldn’t be just midnight essence it would be midnight essence-casting.

and then maybe for windrunners it would be like normal adhesion and then lashing emotions? like something between the thrill and emotional allomancy? idk

last thing, I think maybe the surge of progression was untouched because it’s just of cultivation? so it’s possible some orders would have both surges changed

And you're watching a Meerkat Manor style "wildlife documentary as reality tv" show where he's got all these cameras in the tiny neighbourhood and just edits together dramatic stories of all the shit everyone's doing. At absolutely no point does he attempt to explain or justify his mass kidnapping of all these people, it's simply not addressed at all. The victims launching a dramatic escape attempt are presented in the exact same style as them arguing over cloth allocation. We never get any context on why or how he is doing this.
