a/n: it’s been a while since I uploaded writing and for some reason I decided to sign up for this challenge and by some miracle actually managed to write something for it 🤯anyways, this is for the Valentine’s Day Challenge by @1dffchallenges and it’s honestly just a bit of fun, enemies to lovers little bit of angst and some smut! so i hope you enjoy! I’d always love to know your thoughts!! (also pls excuse any errors, I wrote this in a week with little editing lol)

Pink and red were speckled throughout the entire office, whether it was a bouquet of chocolate roses, a banner of hearts, or stuffed bears residing next to bowls full of heart-shaped candies. Every employee’s section of the office had been filled to the brim with decorations as well. Pink and red ribbon taped carefully around the edges of their desktop computer, little store-bought balloons, also heart-shaped, grouped together and tied to desk chairs.

God, the sight was enough to make his heart crack, her eyes puffy and red, new tears forming after the last ones had just fallen, her cheeks flushed and raw. And Harry can’t fucking take it. His arms, hands, words and eyes aren’t bringing her any comfort, so he does the only thing he can think of, the only thing that might take her mind off everything; he kisses her.

Maybe it’s because he thinks it might be a comfort, perhaps he just feels so sad for her, or maybe Harry believes both of them need a bit of support. Whatever it is, he kisses her, lips soft and innocent, barely pressing against hers before retreating again. Her lips are chapped and raw, just like everything else seemed to be, and she looks up at him in owlish surprise.

I was trying to have this exact conversation back in fucking September!!!! Stuff like this always makes me realize how racist this fandom actually is. Like how y’all gon have acab and blm your bio and then not see the utter hypocrisy of praising harry for playing a police officer when he was the main one protesting last summer?? And if I’ve said it once I’ve said it too many times: intersectionality does not and will never give someone an excuse for contributing to systems of oppression. The fact that the character is gay does not exempt him from being inherently anti-black and enforcing laws and rules that continue to marginalize minorities (literally the character is a gay cop in a time when its ILLEGAL to be gay). So the fact that y’all are defending this is SO PERFORMATIVE! Like saying “acab except Harry and his cop uniform” is such a slap in the face like just say you’re racist and all of your activism is performative and let the rest of us live 🥴

Jagger was a good boy. He was a massive Great Dane with a shiny black coat and goofy wide eyes that softened his overall intimidating appearance. Great Danes had been bread as guarding and hunting dogs, but the gentle giant was nothing like his ancestors. He trapesed around the park every morning with his clumsy oversized paws and a tail that never seemed to stop wagging. A sunshiny yellow collar sat around his neck with a leash connecting him to his owner, a curly headed man with kind eyes.

She had built a rapport with Jagger over time, always willing to spare a few of the treats she kept in her pocket for her own dogs, Annie and Hallie. The pair of speckled Dalmations always looked up to give her a disappointed look that seemed to ask “Why are you giving our cookies away, Mom?” when she offered the chicken flavored morsels to the charming brute. She would lean down (not very far due to his massive size),  give him two cookies, a scratch behind the ear, and a kiss to his forehead every morning, murmuring a “Good morning buddy.”

The light slipped through the gap in the curtains, the early morning light dancing over the naked skin of the two bodies that laid in the bed. It wasn’t the first time the morning light had seen the two of them this way, and it certainly wasn’t going to be the last. YN’s head rest on the naked skin of Harry’s chest, her leg slipped between the two of his as his fingertips softly run over the skin of her bare arm. The duvet that should be there to preserve the heat between the two of them rested just to the small of her back, covering up the majority of their modesty whilst they laid there, without a care in the world other than each other. The room was theirs, and this time together was there and nothing else mattered apart from each other and the feelings they had for each other. 

YN lifted her head up so that she was looking directly at him, tilting her head to the side. She couldn’t help but lean forward and place her lips on his, a small grin on each of their lips. 

“Have you had many girlfriends?” It probably wasn’t the best question to ask, but she was curious — and curiosity sometimes got the better of her, “You don’t have to tell me, but if you want to, you can.” 

Harry studied her intently for a while, looking at her as if she’s got three heads for a second before seemingly snapping out of it, “Why do you want to know that?”

This fic was simply phenomenal, especially this last part!!! It just wrapped up the whole fic so perfectly. Overall, sooo so well-written, many lovely details that just pulled you into the story!! This truly deserves to be a novel, it’s that’s good! Don’t be intimidated if you don’t understand chess because this fic lays everything out in a way that makes chess central to the plot but also completely understandable for any reader. So so so golden, highly reccomend!

For the past few months the farmers in India have been protesting new bills that inhibit them from making a livable wage. This affects ~60% of their population and these protests have been named the largest protests in the history of the world. Please take the time to educate yourself and others around you on this topic and donate if you can! @Khalsa_aid (website KhalsaAid.org) is a humanitarian group that donates supplies to all sorts of causes including the BLM movement, natural disasters, refugees, & now the farmers’ protest. I know this is really shitty since I’m never fucking on here but I really need help rn. My mom and I got into a stupidly petty argument and she got upset over something and decided to throw my kids food out as well as some of their toys to “teach me a lesson”. I’ve already used my assistance/WIC for this month and it won’t be refilled until the 15th of next month, and im not really sure how I’m going to make it until my next paycheck which comes in on the 5th.

I wouldn’t be asking for help if it didn’t involve my kids but I have no way to get them food otherwise. I know this is so shitty to post but my cash app is $savvharper and honestly even 50¢ helps at this point. If I can just get a few cans of formula and some milk and eggs I should be able to get by until I get paid again and I’ll try to pay back what I can when I get paid.

His shelves were full of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Rumi, and Charles Bukowski. His desk was covered in scribbled Post-It notes, Bit-O-Honey wrappers, and empty mugs of tea. 

This is what you noticed the first few times you subbed in his classroom. 

These were the only details you knew about the man whose face you’ve never seen. As you gradually began to substitute for his high school English classes more and more, you learned about him more. This was due to his students, and his personal belongings. 

What he didn’t and didn’t like: all the way from no fringes on a notebook paper, no red pen ever because that was his grading color, no using the word ‘can’t’ in his class, and students can eat all the snacks they want as long as the trash goes in the bin where it belongs. 

The CDs in a stack on the shelf told you which ones he actually listened to because they were the ones that were on top and without dust. 

You learned that the pristine book on his desk was never the one he was reading. No, it was the weathered and used copy beside his mug with dog-eared pages and penciled notes. 

His drawers told you another story with their contents: boxes of teas ranging from peach to vanilla macaron, journals filled to the brim with words, adult coloring books with tv show themes, and books on Van Gogh and Monet hinting at his artsy background. His students slowly warmed up to you, and through them, so did he.

Harry was the life of the party when he wanted to be. He knew how to let loose, with a tequila on the rocks in one hand and a beer in the other, ready to party until he (literally) dropped. He always ended up on some sort of elevated surface like a teenage girl, usually a kitchen island or an absurdly expensive coffee table, singing along to whatever music was playing, magically knowing every word to whatever came over the speakers. Sometimes he would get lost in the winding corridors of the massive mansions his friends lived in, taking a wrong turn in his enhibrated state and ending up somewhere he definitely wasn’t supposed to be. There was also one time he jumped off a (thankfully low) roof into the swimming pool below.

But usually, he was calm, cool, and collected; gently sipping on a single drink he would nurse for most of the night. The two of you liked to sit and watch during these parties, his hand settling securely on your waist, keeping you close to him and away from the chaos that unfolded before you. You would curl up on a couch somewhere and just watch it all play out like it was an observational study, often giving commentary and ranking people and their drunk dancing out of 10.

“I feel like we’re the mean girls in the corner of the cafeteria who just sit and silently judge everyone around them,” you would giggle, nuzzling yourself further into his side.

“That’s because we are the mean girls in the corner judging everyone around them, sweetheart” he would reply, in a slightly buzzed drawl.

But tonight was not one of those nights. And Harry had ended up standing on top of the dining room table scream-singing ABBA at the top of his lungs.

That’s what you were supposed to be doing tonight. You’ve been stressed out about the article that was due in less than a week and you were in need of a night out with your friends.
