neurogenders are honestly really dehumanising and basically trivialising mental illnesses and mentally ill ppls experiences by turning them into a gender label. turning symptoms into genders means that anyone who experiences anxiety can suddenly claim to be anxiousgender how is that even remotely a good thing?

like all of these micro identities made it even more difficult for me personally to figure out my identity because there were so fucking many and i had all of these different people and sources telling me i was (x)gender due to one specific symptom. neurogenders are bad and perpetuating the idea of them is taking advantage of confused mentally ill people.

Here’s sorta an explanation on why I personally am super uncomfortable with neurogenders/sexualities is the whole thing where it’s like… I’m a bipolar schizophrenic man, and by definition of “Schizosexual” you only feel attraction when you are having a schizophrenic meltdown or something. That’s fucking terrifying.

Plus labeling yourself with being “Schizosexual” also implies you are attracted to schizophrenic persons, which kinda fetishizes us. I don’t know, the whole thing makes me uncomfortable.

Neurogender is an umbrella term to describe when someone’s gender is somehow linked to their neurotype , mental illness, or neurological conditions. There are many different neurogenders related to most, if not all, neurodivergencies. Not everyone who is neurodivergent has a neurogender, but each neurogender is exclusive to certain neurotypes. Oftentimes there are similar terms available to neurotypicals who have similar experiences and don’t wish to appropriate.

Like…some neurotypes, like autism for example, make it extremely hard for you to know what you are feeling if you’ve never felt it before, or it skews your emotions. I’m synesthetic and often feel my gender in color. I personally don’t id as synethgender, but I know other synethetics who do. Like if certain neuroatypical people want to id as something bc if the way they experience their own gender that’s their business. Why are exclusionists so similar to anti-sjws oh my lord.

i use autismgender because my sense of gender is heavily influenced by my autism. having a word for my experiences is extremely comforting because without it i feel as though my feelings are fake, and having a word is confirmation that my feelings towards gender are valid even though i’m autistic.

Okay so. It took me about four extra years to find out that I’m just a plain old gay trans man because of mogai microidentities because of the way they’re “marketed”.

Basically, mogais outright state that being a well known gender or sexuality is just about the worst thing you can be (because attention equals basic human rights somehow), so they sell a bunch of nonsensical bullshit to vulnerable mentally ill teenagers and children who wanna feel special, and act acting like that’s progress instead of manipulation.

You have zero idea how many fellow trans mlm have come out of the mogai community scarred beyond belief because of how grossly insulting you are to the “popular” identities. I’d feel so much more comfortable with the mogai microidentities if y'all just minded your own businesses instead of trying to brainwash people into your transphobia, homophobia, and ableism.

You can call us bigots as much as you want to but the facts are that the vast majority of us have been there, in your community, so we know what we’re talking about.

I’ll elaborate if I’m asked to but these are my main thoughts.

also there doesn’t need to be a specific word for everything, people can feel like their gender is influenced by w/e condition they have without having to have a specific word for it. and tbh there shouldn’t be specific gender and sexuality names being made up that mean “my gender/sexuality is influenced by this, and i feel it in x way” because that’s not what gender and sexuality are? my sexuality and gender are influenced by a lot of things, especially my mental illnesses, but that doesn’t mean they’re a different thing to other gay or genderfluid people’s gender and sexuality, i just experience it somewhat differently. literally everyone experiences gender and sexuality differently and we don’t need to come up with a separate word and identity for each of those situations like jesus h christ.

i don’t know if i’m making sense rn because i’m too much medication but. things like gay, straight, pan, aroace, etc.? sexualities! male, female, neutrois, agender, etc.? genders! “my gender feels kind of vague to me because i dissociate a lot”? a perfectly valid and understandable feeling, but not a separate gender in its own right. “my sexuality is influenced a lot by my mental illness”? also a valid feeling, but not a separate sexuality in its own right.

again i don’t know if i’m make sense but basically mogai takes every single different feeling and factor in gender and sexuality and splits it up and makes it into its own separate identity because ????. it doesn’t make sense and it definitely isn’t helpful to a lot of people

the genders and sexualities based off of mental illnesses and neurotpes also feel kinda creepy and othering but that’s another rant for another day tbh
