focusing on arcane recovery is somewhat tricky when you have friends
Liz Toohey-Wiese, 2024.
"A sign installed in the largest wildfire burn I’ve ever seen, along the BC/YK border. Borrowing the aesthetics of BC Recreation Site signs, once again pointing to the overlaps of outdoor recreation, resource extraction, and the consequences of the climate crisis. Most recreation sites in BC exist along previously built logging and mining roads.
“Forced into a great and difficult transformation” was a line I heard in a lecture on Buddhist philosophy I was listening to on my drive up north. But it became another mantra I thought about while living in a place that’s been utterly transformed by resource extraction over the past century, and as I thought about the burnt landscapes I drove through."

By the time we left Italy I was playing dangerous little games with mortals. I’d see a man, or a woman—a human being who looked perfect to me spiritually—and I would follow the human about. Maybe for a week I’d do this, then a month, sometimes even longer than that. I’d fall in love with the being. I’d imagine friendship, conversation, intimacy that we could never have. In some magical and imaginary moment I would say: “But you see what I am,” and this human being, in supreme spiritual understanding, would say: “Yes, I see. I understand.”
— THE VAMPIRE LESTAT | Part VI - Chapter 2
I wandered the world with him until very late in this modern age. Time eventually destroyed our love for one another. Time withered our gentle intimacy. Time devoured whatever conversation or pleasures we once agreeably shared.
— The Vampire Armand, Anne Rice (1998)
The best quality a fictional man can have is being deeply, pathetically, wretchedly in love with someone, I think

In a world where you've met Ethrand and you think Julien is a better option, I need you to meet more people. What? Sir Julien is extremely handsome. Have you talked to him for more than five minutes? No, but it's been three to five, a dozen times. Yeah, he's solid in three to five, I get that. Anyone's good in three to five. Not Ethrand Tachonis, is not.
hey, don't cry. fictional character in dire & perilous situations. ok?
poster I did for Critical Role's Berlin live show PROJEKT FUNBALL! Thank you Maxwell James and Adrienne Cho for the trust, this was such a fun project to work on!

problematic rage gap. one partner tries to bring nuance and understanding to a tough situation. the other wants to blow up the earth about it.
