Adding this comment from ig post because it’s too good to pass 😂:
Coming back 4 years later with an upgrade
Don’t you just want to go batshit
Padawan in Shadows By Jake Bartok, an illustrator and comic book artist at Lucasfilm
jeez man what’d you say?
Like everything we've learned about Devon Izara indicates that she checks every box for "dark side curious" but you know what above all else really makes her catastrophically vulnerable to it?
There is absolutely no need for Maul to turn her against the Jedi as a concept in order to turn her to the dark side.
There is no need to convince her that the Jedi Order is bad. Because it's gone. It doesn't exist anymore. It was destroyed. That's WHY Devon is so vulnerable, because her still-living master is her only remaining tether to what came before, because her grief at surviving Order 66 and the loss of her family and culture, her fear of just how easily she could be hunted down to, is why she's going to be receptive to being offered a new path forward, because the one she was on was destroyed.
But she's not getting recruited by the Inquisitorius here. She's not being turned into a Jedi-hunter. There is no need to convince her that from her point of view the Jedi are evil. Because they're gone.
And they won't be around to save her from herself.

Welcome to the home of the Tales of the Clones Zine!
I go by Nini, or also known as @twinsunstars, and this is the home of my zine, Tales of the Clones! I plan for this to be a digital free-to-the-public and a non-profit zine, though one of my goals in the future is to do something for charity. For now, I have hopes for the creation of this zine to go well. Thank you to those who voiced their support on my idea, and I am excited to co-create with others!
Now in the early development stages, below is a linked form for the zine if you wish to be part of it and submit something for approval to be featured in the zine. For this zine, you may create and submit:
Fanfiction
Fanart
Collages
Creative/mixed media
LINK TO CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FORM
The form will close on July 20th, 2026, and those selected for the zine will be notified (aiming to) by August 10th. Have fun, and please help me spread the word!
Hi friends! The blog for my collaborative zine project I proposed a while ago is now open!! Come by and check it out, and if you're interested in helping and being part of the zine, come apply to be considered for work on the zine! SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN UNTIL SAID DEADLINE!!
tagging those who requested, but to anyone, please help spread the word of the zine: @daidrm @heyitsmacee @unconsciousxreality @aurelintheelleth @livyscuteurl @singingit75 @fwitoley @dragoncat1313 @dreamingdraig

better call maul
okay yes we've all gone crazy over the scenes of lawson staring intently at maul's projection and maul doing the same to him but now i need to say my piece. lawson tirelessly pursues maul and only finds shadows of him -- holograms and camera footage. he doesn't think anything of when they first met in the prison or that maul spared his life. "lucky me, right?" but that meeting was all maul needed to enact his plans.
lawson first sees maul as a hologram captured by a police droid and makes a fatal mistake when he learns that the empire wants maul: he doesn't call them in. he says no, we can handle this ourselves, this is a local matter. and that mistake is how everything unravels for him, and how everything comes together for maul.
it's maul's idea to attack the prison to get vario. rook is well to question the idea because attacking them IS public, it WILL draw attention, but maul already knows it doesn't matter. if the police captain didn't call in the empire the first time, he won't again. maul gets vario, and he gets devon. he kills everyone there in his way -- except for lawson. he plays perfectly into maul's scheme and he doesn't even realize it. he thinks not alerting the empire is the best decision because maul's presence, compared to them, is the lesser of two evils. and that's how maul wins.
maul doesn't need to be physically present to control the situation: he's a shadow, always pulling the strings. he meets lawson a second time as a hologram, and although he's not there in person like their first meeting, he controls it all the same. maul uses the same tone with him as he did with devon, and he uses the same tactic: he offers a truce, lets them become agitated and refuse, and uses it to his advantage. he had always intended for devon to pick up his lightsaber because he wanted devon to fight. he had always intended for lawson to deny his offer and for their groups to fight so that he could duel daki and devon uninterrupted.
maul is a shadow. he's there when he's not even in the room. lawson thinks he has control, but that, too, is a false image.
