I don't have Epilepsy, but I have Psychogenic Non Epileptic Seizures. Which basically is just a fancy way of saying I wasn't born with epilepsy, I got it through somewhere else, such as sickness, head trauma, etc. I get all the same triggers as epilepsy does and maybe more.
Whats worse is that no neurologist is willing to treat me with medicine, because it supposedly "can't be treated."
I have been locked in multiple chain seizure episodes, and have permanently lost feeling in the left side of my face, and my right pinky finger. I also have a permanent hemi-sensory deficit that I got over a decade ago from my seizures, and the feeling has never returned.
I also just got over a months worth of chain seizures. Constant, almost every day excluding a measly 4, from mid January to late February. My psychiatrist is the only one willing to try and help me through them by providing me a sedative to keep them down. But my insurance just denied a dose change for it because managing my seizures is not considered a good enough reason.
I can no longer drive, I can't play some games for more than an hour at a time if i'm lucky, I have to wear biking sunglasses everywhere I go because sunlight and artificial light can trigger my seizures. Sometimes I can't even read physical books or papers because it leaves me horribly nauseated.
I'm incredibly lucky that my seizures did not manifest as fainting convulsion episodes. But I lose a majority of cognitive functions. I can't just 'get over it' I can't regain my ability to speak, I lose complete ability to move my limbs, neck, eyes at times. I'm unable to take care of myself, dress myself, brush my own hair, or even prepare food for myself some days. Yet i'm lucky because mine are at a lower risk to kill me in my sleep.
Please make the internet a safer place for people with seizures. Don't just throw us to the wayside based on logic like "if you don't like it just look away/scroll past". It takes just one second, one moment of rapid flashing and someone could be in serious trouble.
It can end in hospitalization, or death as brought up in the post above. Permanent damage that can never fully heal. All for peoples bright flashes in videos.

None of us asked for Seizures, and all we want is to be able to live normal lives, despite everything against us.
