So since our beloved fandom is in the doldrums and heading for maybe a drought, is it time to unmask on here?

I'm K. I write Doctor Who fic. I've been doing it a long time. And a fair bit recently (hello escapism!). Do you like Doctor Who fic? Do you particularly like Ten/Rose (and/or TenToo/Handy/whatevs / Rose)? Because I've written a LOT of that.

Most is adult-ish. As, you know, a plot point.

Been noodling on a fic a little out of my comfort zone for a while (technically not a ship I’ve written before, er sort of). And suddenly it’s the longest thing I’ve ever written? By a significant margin. I mean it’s not *long* by today’s standards, but if I ever post it, it will be multiple parts. It might even reach 5-digits on words. 😂 I don’t even know who I am anymore.

No one get excited. It’s a long way from done and that’s IF I even ever finish it. But it’s an interesting exercise.

Too many songs about love, not enough songs about Specific Places

If I were In Charge, I would make a law requiring all popular musicians to record at least one good song about their hometown. If it's a band, all band members' hometowns must be sung about. This would cause the number of songs about Specific Places to naturally build up over time in a pattern loosely correlated to population density. This is a good plan.

Though admittedly, my good plan would also increase the oversaturation of songs about LA specifically. Which will be annoying. But it's a small price to pay for any song about Uclulet

Better idea: given that LA already has a disproportionate number of songs, LA musicians will be assigned a randomly selected small town with no famous musicians. They will be required to spend 3 weeks living in the town, after which they must present a good song about their experience. This will be good enrichment both for the town and the musician.

Though unfortunately, I must concede that 'LA musician required to go to Nowhere, Idaho to write a song about it' is the set-up for a Hallmark movie that absolutely writes itself.

Behind the Scenes of The Girl in the Fireplace - Part 12

Trivia from Doctor Who Magazine's "The Fact of Fiction" article on The Girl in the Fireplace by David Bailey - issue 434

The series outline gave this episode's title as Madame de Pompadour. Writer Steven Moffat's draft scripts had titles including Every Tick of My Heart, Loose Connection, and Reinette and the Lonely Angel. "I've seen a scary thing," the Doctor said [to child Reinette] in lines cut in the final edit. "Want to know what the scary thing is? Your clock. It's broken." Reinette replied: "My brother, probably. He's always breaking my things." The Doctor is pretending to be drunk [in the scene where he saves Rose and Mickey from the clockwork droids]. In early drafts the Doctor was more obviously inebriated, but Moffat sobered him up after comments from showrunner Russell T. Davies.
